The hubcaps really transform the Berlingo. Before I retired, I was working in a small IT department for a company that was out in the countryside, with IT being in a dedicated building surrounded by apple orchards. Long story short, we got ourselves a couple of picnic tables and shortly after, we bought a gazebo, prompting the obvious question: how many programmers does it take to erect a gazebo ? I have to say, it was a brilliant addition because every year from late spring to early fall we used it as an additional conference room. Project meetings while sitting outside are much less stressful.

Bringing your home with you when you travel to events or shoots is such a good idea! I’ve devoured all these camping videos today; it’s so nice to see it get more settled-in, getting more out of the space, and so on. I’m sure before long, Miss HubNut will have a mental database of all the best campsites near home and common far-away destinations!

As others have said, the wheel trims make such a difference. It was the same with my mother's Mk2 Ford Focus which was running bare steelies for months then got some original trims. Incidentally that has also had far more than its market resale value spent on it in repairs/preventative maintenance recently. I don't regret it though as even a 56 plate Focus deserves to stay on the road when they are now at an age of being scrapped regularly.

Loving these excerpts from Bob Life. One minor advantage of a caravan is that there's a higher roofline to cram stuff under. (Thinking of your query about how to fit everything into Bella when you're transporting Hublets and all their gear as well as yourselves). Enjoy the Bob life. Signed, an envious subscriber.

Top tip: buy from Halfords a few of their super strong tent pegs, to supplement the ones supplied with the awning. They can be hammered through the gravel of a pitch. I ended up buying a small lump hammer from a bargain shop for this purpose, and the hammer and pegs have stood us in good stead for many, many camping trips. You will need pliers or maybe a mole wrench to get them back out of the ground!
It's great to see Bella back to full fitness and looking spiffy with her new wheel trims.
I hooted with laughter when the dogs sent the picnic table flying! Been there, done that. Several times over......

Tottally agree with the towing. I recently started towing with our trailer tent. Just been away in it for the first time and enjoyed every minute. Tow car is a Skoda Octavia vrs so plenty of torque and power. Being the hatchback have the same issue as you with Betty. Thanks of the videos. Happy camping as well as motoring.

Roof box my advice, you would be surprised how much you can fit in one and with the new suspension should be ok to carry extra weight!
On another note, you were very lucky to pick up the folding camper at that price,,,i didn't know these existed, only though trailer tent was the only thing, the folding camper is ideal for us but can't find one on a poor mans budget!

Don't worry too much Miss Hubnut my mate once ordered a door ringer for his shop off of Ebay. When it turned up it was a scaled down version of a door ring made for a dolls house shop. Instead of cluttering the camper with stuff you can store it outside underneath the bed pull-outs. Find or make some large plastic or vinyl bags with zips. Lots of people - including me - ditch the wardrobe because it's near-useless and having the space is much better. You can get skirts to drape around the bed pull-outs, I've got them but don't use them. I'd offer them to you but they're the wrong colour for your camper.

I had a Conway Cruiser back in the late 80's and towed it all round Europe. It was a fantastic piece of kit, very comfy and very well built. I have very fond memories of sitting in it overlooking the Mediterranean in the South of France. You barely noticed that you were towing it.......unlike a caravan which obscures rear view and causes so much drag whilst altering the handling of the car. Not with the Conway though, braked trailer made for easy control and towing.

What a grand video, Ian. I love the interactions between you and Karley. You to are a priceless team. Bob is certainly earning his keep, and Bella is terrific. I do have to wonder about the reported fuel consumption with Betty. It goes to reinforce my dislike of 6 cylinder engines. The torque peak is okay, but the question is where it lands in the revs. My 89 Grand Marquis with the 5.8 litre V8 had 528 nm of torque at 2,200 rpm. A trailer like Bob was not even felt in the car, which was rated for 2½ tons metric tons of trailer. Not towing, or with a small trailer like Bob, the car would do 39-40 mpg on the motorway with no problem.

If the lid of your esky (coolbox) is just hollow blow moulded plastic.
Drill a small hole in either side and pump it full of expanding builders foam for increased insulation.
(Its best to place a flat weight on the lid whilst filling with foam to stop it bulging)

When you add the weight of the Hublets plus their "stuff" plus the temptation to add additional camping items, I wonder if the Berlingo will be a little underpowered ?
A more modern turbo diesel would have more power and torque and a bit more spent upfront might have been a better option. In hindsight of course.

Your Berlingo seems to be a very practical vehicle, despite the recent bills. Looking good, inside and out and seems to be a comfortable and pleasant driving experience for you. Looks to have been an excellent choice that has widened your possibilities a bit. Maybe you'll even have a continental motoring roadtrip with Bella and Bob sometime. That could be fun!
I rather took for granted the white Berlingo diesel vans I drove vast distances in for the utility company over a decade back, but in retrospect they were pretty good. They were basic and unglamorous, comfortable enough for 12 hour workdays driving all over Southern Scotland in all weathers, did their job well enough without fuss and I didn't have too many problems with them.

As someone with a Peugeot Partner micro camper these camping videos fascinate me. Every time I go out I try to take less stuff than last time and pare it down for more and more space and here you are buying more and more stuff :) Two different styles of camping with the same style of excellent Minivan. These Berlingos and Partners are the last bastion of practicality in a world of SUVs (and I would trust mine to get me out of a muddy field more than most wide tyred SUVs too).

You need a "silver mesh shade tarp" . We use a big one for dog agility days. It covers a gazebo and the car. The mesh allows a breeze as well as light through it. If you covered Bob it would be very pleasant to be in all day even in the recent heat. If you cover a car it will stay cool enough for the dogs with the rear hatch and windows open.

Much approval for the halogen oven, I don't camp, caravan or even fold camper but I do roast myself a chicken on a Friday to keep me supplied with cold chicken over the weekend. The halogen oven is a godsend in this hot weather too as it doesn't make the kitchen unbearably hot as it would if you put the full oven on, plus in these times the reduced use of electricity helps too.
