  • Artificial intelligence has emerged as a transformative technology, with tech giants increasingly investing in its development. Semiconductor companies like Nvidia (NVDA) are some of the biggest beneficiaries. Futurum Chief Market Strategist Cory Johnson joins Market Domination Overtime to share his insights on Nvidia's prospects ahead of its upcoming earnings report.
Regarding Nvidia's sustained growth trajectory, Johnson states, "we've never seen anything like this." He highlights the company's ability to continuously innovate, introduce new products, and sell everything it manufactures, solidifying its position as a powerhouse in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. Johnson also notes that Nvidia has substantial pricing power, contributing significantly to its margin growth. However, he points out one concern: tech giants themselves are actively pursuing projects to replicate Nvidia's chips in-house.
"When all your customers are trying to invent a competitor to the product that you are selling them, you might wanna worry about that," Johnson tells Yahoo Finance.

Waste of time. Nvidia is going nowhere but up for the next 10 years. You can bet your life on it.

"When all your customers are trying to invent a competitor to the product that you are selling them, you might wanna worry about that," There's not enough foundry to manufacture them chips so it is not going to happen anytime soon. You'll have to wait till those TSMC and Intel fabs are up and running but, by that time NVDA would be at $10K per share.

There's no competition for Nvidia Chips in AI.

Even if they (microsoft, google,..) want to create their own chips it'll take them for the Best-Case Scenario, 3-5 years

Other competitors can ABSOLUTELY make AI chips as good or better than what Nvidia has. What these competitors are having major trouble with is the software, the ecosystem, and the entrenchment of AI developers that have used Nvidia's products quietly for over a decade and the CEO's willingness to strongly support and invest into that community even when some of Nvidia's own big-time investors considered it a waste of resources. However, as datacenter revenue was growing, investors thought perhaps Jensen was onto something. Then ChatGPT happened... running on Nvidia's chocolatey chips and now everyone wants some of that candy. Well played, Jensen. Well Played!

NVIDIA's chips and software are both far better then any competition.

@@jeffrose5622 AMD's MI300 chips have larger built-in HBM and memory bandwidth than Nvidia's H100, which means less wasteful swapping of data between DRAM and the built-in HBM for very large models on MI300. However, robust and stable software to make efficient use of your hardware is what's most important and that's where Nvidia shines and AMD fails. You can't just claim Nvidia is superior everywhere without a good explanation why.

@@jackchoy6969 The final finished product is what matters Jack. Not pieces and parts. NVIDIA has a huge moat and years head start on all competitors and they won't catch up. Yes, AMD will get 5%-10% of the pie, but NVIDIA is going to get 80%.

Nvidia: we have the best chips.
    Companies: Can we get one?
Nvidia: we dont have at the moment.
Companies: Well, we are buying from others even if they are slow.

Wrong. NVIDIA had $18 Billion worth last quarter and will have $22 Billion this quarter and will have $26 Billion next quarter. The competition is getting like $1 Billion per quarter (split between all of them). Don't fool yourself. NVIDIA is the clear winner.
