A lot of people who skip the entire video and only see the final list will surely misunderstood about the niche tier and comment in disagreement with it.
Hopefully with natlan rumored to have mechanics that buffs melt/vape reactions, cryo may have a comeback the same way dendro made alot of electro characters turn from niches to must haves
Cryo has the worst reaction in this game-superconduct. Electro is easily one of the best in the game and running a cryo unit causes weird anti-synergy. Another problem is dendro requiring far less investment value vs hypercarry comps. The fact that cryo, like geo, has limited and weaker elemental reactions is also holding them back. They need to rework both cryo and geo, but this is Genshin side of HoYo, they’re some of the most stubborn devs in gacha.

I would Switch Klee and Yoimiya. Yes Yoimiya is single target, but she is so easy to play, she attacks so fast that you almost don't need to move around to clean multiple waves of enemies. On the other hand, klee is too clunky to play. Even though I switched my yoimiya for arlechino for every much all the content, yoimiya has been cleaning all the content for me for the past 2 years
THANK YOU! The only thing you need to do with Yoi is throw a shielder on her team, put in an Anemo shredder and a Hydro applier for Vape, and you can wreck anything without worrying about animation cancels, HP levels and whatnot. She's SO comfy.
I will not read the rest of your comment. No, JUST NO! Klee is way more powerful than Yoimiya 😭 It doesn't matter how "comfy" she is when she can't clear anything that introduces a DUST of AoE. If you don't like Klee, that's fair, but she's better than her and so is every other Pyro DPS. And you have so many to choose from too! You have Diluc, Gaming, Yanfei, Hu Tao, Arlechino, Lyney and obviously Xiangling. You can even play DPS Bennett and he would be better than her 😭

Thats because they need very specific teammates while the decent tier works in a bunch of teams. for example can run melt, vaporize, vaporize plunge or mono pyro. Vaporize plunge is far superior to the others but there are options. Childe can run international or taser effectively but is a worse taser driver than sucrose. Nilou has by definition no options beside her nieche and xiao really got it rough if you dont build specifically his best teams nowadays. Faruzan and or xianyun are kinda required which heavily limits his teams aswell.thats right there. Is the definition of niche.
@@Riwulthis is such a nothing bagel though. Playing a B tier team isn’t flexibility you are just choosing to be weak. Varrs rated the higher tier placements by the strength of their best teams. Do you really think zhong is S in a world where Neuv doesn’t exist? No. So Zhongli is “niche” as a nuev bot from a meta strength perspective. This flexibility cope is only relevant if you have a weak account with limited options. Nilou for example can sometimes have more real team options then someone like hu tao because of how many dendro and hydro units she can use. So is hu tao niche now? It’s all just laziness on y’all’s part to have a niche tier.
tbf both childe and xiao require very high investments while still not being top dps. Childe is only as good as your Xiangling, and Xiao is very dependent on a set that no one should really be farming, and again the damage aren't the most impressive
@@wilburforce8046 IMO Zhongli isn't niche. He's a top tier option for Neuvillette (at c0), and he's still a premium option in many cases for Hu Tao, Arlecchino, and others. So yeah, without Neuvillette, Zhongli would still be S both for strength in role and flexibility. Just like with every version, I'm sure there will be meta DPS in Natlan that also prefer Zhongli on the team.
+ dont forgot about how his skill and burst were the easiest way to break abyss mages shields in the early game without needing to swap teammates (plus needing to build said teammates with low resources).
This, I was able to 36* the remainder of 1.X patches since 1.3 because of Anemo Traveler. Her Tornado Burst blocked by a wall deals so much damage as well.
I started playing after a long break (I stopped playing around when Dehya came out) , my best team was Ayaka+ Shenhe freeze team. Since I stated playing again I hardly use that team at all. Luckily I have Nahida so now I just play hyperbloom for everything it is crazy to me how bonkers dendro element is.
I knowwwww I'm still sobbing about it, all my favorite go-to characters are cryo and if it's not cryo it's hydro and I'm so sad about it. I came for the exploration/story, but I stayed for Kaeya - he was my first main and I love him to pieces even now. Wriothesley was my first 5* and I also still love him to pieces. First real shielder I built and began to use reliably? Layla. First 5* healer that I got and built and used? Qiqi. I don't know why I have such a soft spot for cryo characters, but I do love all my cryo children and I am still waiting for the day cryo and freeze (my favorite reaction) finally get some love and attention
One is that it has an inherent link to physical which is in a terrible state [if only superconduct shred both phys and cryo; could eveb sub for VV eith superconduct], freeze being exclusively focused on raw dmg carried by MVs and buffing them, and melt having a dependence on the very fee pyro applicators we have and only one good pyro sub dps OPPA
Chlorinde's main advantage over cyno is bcs she is a skill dps imo. I have both cyno and CL with their sig weapons, and CynoBaizhuFurinaNahida did more than CL overload. However, one uses burst while the other uses skill. So theyre kinda very similar in terms of overall dmg output but CL is slightly more efficient bcs she doesnt suffer from er issues. And i love them both!❤
I think the niche tier kinda ruins this list. There are too many overlaps between the tiers when you put all these characters in niche. Xiao/Bennett teams deserve to at least be in decent if we are comparing to standard 5 star characters in decent tier. Childe being in niche while lyney is in two tiers above is very inconsistent as they both use the same characters and lyney has more dps loss with his charge shot playstyle. Both of them should at least be decent tier and held to same standards, according to your rules. I think this is probably just recency bias. Nilou is “niche” but is still powerful and extremely accessible compared to any other dps. She can run completely f2p characters and still do good damage without farming high quality artifacts and investing in talents. That is enough to make her excellent for anyone who pulls her.
The only point I would disagree with is Childe being powercrept by nuvie considering there teams dont even clash in anyway. If anything Nuvie increased childe usage a lil bit by making him a support.
i think the one who suffers from powercreep from neuvi is ayato since childe has that a team where he works best in while ayato doesn't(maybe nilou but kokomi is also there.)
Well, Childe is a one trick pony, he is only great on National in any other team he is below average. So yeah they definitely dont clash cause Childe better in national (and that is mathematically talking, in actual gameplay i would say neuvilete is better even in national, so basically better than him in everyithing xd).
To be fair Keqing's main selling point is her excelent uptime. Her dps is not reliant on her burst like Cyno, and its CD is low enough to accomodate to the current mutivawe content in abyss. Clorine does more damage, but without the OG electro artifact her CDs can be a bit iffy. If they ever release a character that can reset Skill CDs that might be Childe's ticket back to the meta. I would definetly had put Yae one tier lower. Her kit is way too clunky, and considering she is supposed to be an off field character, she is out way too much. Putting down all 3 turrets, then ult, then putting them down again...
No Yae is arguably the best electro for her versatility, she has 100% uptime and huge range especially at c2 and if she’s clunky for you that’s skill issue because all yae users know not to “eeeqeee” and you can use her e to dash from atks easily, don’t even compare keqing to the limited line up she just doesn’t compete in all their best teams like cyno quickbloom, clorinde aggravate and yae in general out dps any of her teams and ofc if u have multiple cons on her she would feel better than a less invested electro dps. Yae is the most flexible electro dps we have since she can also be sub dps and she’s very future proof in that regard
@@Marz333 Yae's problem, is that her E dash is not just slow, but it doesn't give you I-frames either. If you wanna use her on field, then she is subpar bcs of her weak normal and chrged attacks. If you wanna use her as an off-field dps, then she takes too much time to set up correctly. Fischl is almost always a better choice, bcs you can just press one buttin and she is basically at ful usefulness. Yae is nowhere near being the best electro, stop simping. Cyno quickbloom is just an okay team. His burst cancels if you swap out, so any time a new set of enemies come you will fck up your rotation bcs you will have to put dendro back on them. You can either use DMC, but then you are just back to circle impact and fcked the moment an enemy goes outside of it, or pull for Baizhu, who is just not worth it to be honest, not to mention his ult does not have that consistent of a dendro buildup. Funnily enough Clorinde quickbloom is better bcs all of her attacks are aoe and her cooldowns are much more friendly then Cyno

His skill CD is fine and lineup with the team rotations anyways if you stayed on field with him for the right amount of time. Which is 9 to 11 seconds that is the same as most on field carry like hutao,yoi,wrio,raiden,Itto,diluc,klee who all stay on field for 9-11s and i don't see people complain these characters are quickswap. If anything childe is more flexible in the fact that he can extend his skill to match 15-18s like xiao,cyno, or reduce it to 5-8 navia,clorinde. Mainly what i want to say is that his ticket back to the top meta is a better xiangling and/or bennett so that his team can do more dmg. His skill CD is something that you as a player can easily work around. But doing more dmg is not
You know how they can fix Cryo? Release a character that increases Shatter Damage multiplyer like an Overload for Chevy or Bloom with Nilou. That way players are incentivise to do freeze shatter without making freeze overpowered.
I believe that Raiden's got ideal versatility for electro in general. Her E ticks with so many different kinds of attacks, I personally really love using the combination of her with Nahida and Neuvillette for extremely easy hyperbloom reactions, have the 4th slot be Zhongli for the sake of having a strong and dependable shield, and boom. Strong team that can take down almost anything. Given her burst, using Nahida's E makes it a healthy alternative for anything immune to hydro in case Neuvillette can't take it down.

In fairness, in the Childe section I had the same thought of putting Childe in excellent too. Also, Lyney can use a range of supports to round out his team while Childe can only use bennett/xiangling/kazuha to complete International. He can't swap out any of them, whereas lyney's only obligatory pairing is bennett (xiangling is paired because she's bennett's best friend). And finally - as a reminder this tier list also takes pull necessity into consideration. Childe international is one of those teams where OG players who already have him will use him, but I don't think it's really a team you want to go for in the modern day anymore.
@@VarsII it's most definitely a team that you still want to play. look up Childe international speedruns in abyss. it's still one of the strongest and most consistent teams in the game. Lyney is far more niche because not only does he require the same teammates to do good damage but he also has to worry about not being interrupted so he often performs a lot worse than he does in sheets because you either have to replace Kazuha with Zhongli which is a huge DPS loss or you have to dodge which is also a huge DPS loss
@@VarsII The only reason why now I can imagine skip Childe is because we still don't have any support or sub dps pyro so I skip everyone who use Bennett or Xiangling. I don't regret having him, but I am so bored of Xiangling and Bennett. I know a characters who need a pyro support/sub dps will not improve as much as others characters because they have a obsession to only release pyro on field dps. I didn't realise before. Hu Tao got better supports everytime because she use hydro sub dps instead and she doesn't use Bennett or Xiangling. So no, Lyney is a hard skip and he is harder than Childe to play too.
Lyney really is a beast of a dps but most people dont like his playstyle (or just dont like him) making him one of the five stars with lowest owner rate. Its so fun to one shot bossess with him and actually he's okay with aoe too because his best team is bennett xiangling and kazuha which most of us already have
neuv didn't powercreep childe. he powercrept ayato. childe is still preferred for internat even if neuv has greater value overall whereas ayato's final niche is bloom which neuv isnt far behind
Neuvillette didn't even powercreep Ayato since Ayato has a COMPLETELY different role than Neuvillette. Neuv is a hypercarry. Ayato is an on-field Hydro *drive* and off field *AoE Hydro applier.*
Neuvilette did not powercreep childe, he powercreeped the entire international team xD in speedruun I have seen better times from neuvilette teams than international teams today. but come on, it's a 3 or 4 year old team that has aged well.

Pretty good tier list all things considered. The “niche” tier kinda makes zero sense; I get that you felt like you had to add it because the list has no stipulations, but some of the characters in niche can easily be added to other tiers if you just built in stipulations to the list. Since having Itto and Xiao in the same tier is both confusing and not really good design; Xiao being by far and away the better unit when both have their premium “niche” teams.
I'm Pleasantly surprised. probably the best tier list I've seen to date. there isn't any glaring issues, while I do disagree with a few choices, there is nothing sacrileges Great Work Vars II
Please remember with this, pull for who you want. If you love a charachter, pull for them and use them. For example, I like to use dps Kirara. Is she the best dps in the world? No. Would Alhaitham or Tighnari or (fill in the blank) be a better dendro dps? Probably. But don't consider those questions unless you want to dedicate your playstyle to highest numbers possible. I like Kiraras playstyle, her charachter, and story. Remember, Genshin Impact is a game. So PLAY it and ENJOY it. And if someone else says "that charachter is garbage this one is so much better" blah blah blah, don't listen! Enjoy the game and the characters you love, don't feel ashamed for doing so!

Overall a decent list, but I strongly disagree with puting baizhu and xianyun as top tier. If you compare them to other in that list, nahida neuvilete, furina, they are not even close. Baizhu is more like a comfort pick, he is not core for any meta team. Xianyun enables weaker character, but thats it. Im not even sure if they deserve to be in ''excelent'' tier.
Baizhu’s value is huge , he’s op with neuvilette , with all dendro teams , in superbloom , with clorinde , in burgeon , in meltburning , he’s really as useful and powerful as nahida , and this is also from my experience and the experience of his havers
You say this as if any other character didn't have a condition to even be used, Furina's condition to be used is to have a healer, for Nahida it is to have a type based on proficiency and strong elemental reactions related to dendro, the value of yelan in a team that doesn't take advantage of its potential is simply ridiculous, and you can extend this to all characters, the fact that Furina's condition only requires a healer to work 100% is actually to its advantage, as the healer just allows her buff to work better and more consistently, which makes her the most versatile character in the game, entering LITERALLY any composition, from solo hydro with a hu-tao to an arlecchino or Nilou, they may not be teams that take advantage of 100%, But they are strong enough teams just because of Furina and a he@@akumatsubasa6727

I moved Nueve down to excellent. He's clunky on controllers which is how I play. No spin to win and quick reposition. But yeah can't argue with S on keyboard and mouse
nonsense to me, tarta niche and liney excelent, both need bennet xiangling (and anemo but easy to have any for international ) and international is less restricted by having 3 elements, if any element appear it is pretty much ok but if just one pyro ennemy is in a room you are stucked or loosing lot of dps with liney
Overall a good list, but some things i would change are: -Baizhu should be in niche. For most dendro teams he is never bis because he offers only defensive support (his application is too bad and reaction buff too insignificant). He is only bis in the premium c1 Neuvillette+Furina team and there are a lot better dendeo drivers (Nahida/Alhaitham). -Clorinde and Yae Miko should be in decent. Their damage compared to other dps characters is not very high and they are usually carried or replaced by Fischl. -Nilou should be in excellent for the reasons you mentioned. Her team building restriction is not hindering her pull value, in fact she is one of the most f2p friendly characters. -Klee should be in Average. Her damage is too low and her playstyle too clunky, even in her better teams she can be replaced. -Sigewine should be subpar. She is basically hydro Qiqi. She has basically no application, insignifficant damage and offers nothing but healing. Her synergy with Furina is pointless when their teams are still worse than other Furina teams.
@@ryancorro-sp6gv Problem is all baizhu gives is minimal application and buffing which is comparable to sigewinne's. He is more so on the level of jean where they both provide healing but jeans larger VV buffs are contrasted with biazhu's inter res and more.
I mean honestly i agree with most of this, it just kinda sends me that baizhu and xianyun are above alhaitham and arlechino. Xianyun is just slightly better jean, what she provides is good but really when you look at the numbers its not s teir worthy imo, and baizhu, his buff is additive so its not all that insane. Alhaithem is like an onfeild nahida, and does SO MUCH damage. Baizhu is one of my most used characters and i can say, hes not all that. Hes great at aggravate teams but thats really it, he doesnt apply enough dendro to reliably keep up with much else other then burning, but why would you bring him for that yk? I also think Yelan should be down one teir, because of xingqui being crazy but i think that argument is much more subjective.
At this point you should just erase the niche tier, you're using it for the characters that only have one popular or meta team but thats the same case for most of the characters in the game, even the ones that you have on other tiers, for example Alhacen/hyperbloom lyney/monoPyro (Ayaka, Ganyu)/Freeze Diluc/Plunge (Keching, Yae)/Aggravate Cyno/Hyperbloom Hu Tao/ Vape Xianyun/plunge Tignari/Spread. And its the same case for the lower tiers. Also, I think that you're overating Jean, she is decent but she is only usable with Furina and even then she is never the option that you want to use. On mono hydro you better use Kokomi or Siswine as a healer in order to have kazuha for VV and for raiden doble hydro or any other team Xianyun with TTDS will be better even if you don't use any plunges. And Sayu does the exact same job Jean does
As a triple-crown diluc main, thank you for putting him in the decent tier. I've seen so many diluc haters throughout the years that keep calling him trash all because they lost their 50/50 to him. I never really liked hu tao, lyney, and yoimiya's playstyles which kept me from pulling for them. ever since I started the game until now, I still use diluc and he fits right perfectly in the tier that you put him in. also I find it kinda funny how most of the units I play are all on the decent tier
Can you do a tier list on the best characters to pull for each element theater? I assume it would be characters who don't rely on other characters to function at the top
That's a fun idea especially if in the future they increased its difficulty so non dps oriented characters cant cheese though it. A good example of someone who has a different standing in theatre compared to other game content for me atleast was venti. Many chambers had only suckable mobs and especially in the defense of the monolith one he was a much greater use even compared to my top dps arlecchino (basically solo-ed 3 chambers with only his Qs).
@@agiant5715 They can't inscrease the difficulty if we have to play 3 dps on the same team and you are forced to play trials characters (look at their builds) if we don't have them too. For now, everyone can be good enough. The best are the one who can be play on field and off field, because they will be great if you don't have a dps or if you have to play 2 or 3 dps together.
For me, it's just a bad approach calling itto/xiao niches. I mean, if you say so, why is Ayaka not niche as well?? She has one viable team, Wich is freeze. She can play at melt as well xiao can play taser, but they are just bad at it. You can change the hydro/cryo.options, the same way you can change between xianyun/zhongli/furina/bennet in xiao teams. It just not make sense at all to call xiao/itto/Klee niche and then put Ayaka at not niche

I think the problem with the niche tier is where it is placed, characters in the niche tier seem to be a majorily better than the characters in decent so I think if he swapped the tiers it would be pretty much perfect
The dehya ranking is soooo outdated 😭 sure she's still bad but she's not QIQI or ALOY level bad she can actually be a decent pyro defensive option for neuv, wrio, arlecchino, chlorinde and lyney, this I feel makes her at least above the bottom tier. Assuming with cons also, furina buffs the hell out of her damage so she can be used as a decent on field dps

If you require a very specific character to be relevant, you are not decent, you are niche. Diluc should not be decent tier. You defined niche immediately after saying "they only have one team". Well Diluc only has one team. Putting Childe in niche is WILD. Childe's national team is still incredibly meta. His taser, hyperbloom teams are all servicable. Nobody pulls for childe because he's had very few banners recently. This is more of a Neuvilette problem where Nuevilette is just too strong and overshadows all hydro DPSs. What's even more wild is putting Ayato as decent. There aren't issues that Childe has that Ayato does not . The only thing Ayato has going for him is that if you build him with Er he's a cope off field hydro applicator. Where are you getting this information that Xiao has a top 5 team? There are so many teams out there that I'm calling complete cap on this. Also, Bennett can comfortably replace any of his "required" supports and he'll be fine. I agree with your ranking but not your reasoning. Xiao is aweful in domains where enemies spawn on opposite side if the map, which is what is what abyss chambers have been spawning as. Xiao's only way of dealing with this is using E dor mobility instead of damage, which greatly nerfs his personal damage and energy generation. I think you need to be more consistent with who you consider niche. There's a lot of other instances of this too. You put Lynney in excellent while he suffers from only having one team. You justify this by saying "who doesn't have Bennett and Xiangling" while this pair is also exactly what Childe wants on his "only team". Not to mention his glaring weakness of being the squishiest 5* in the game, and his dpc completely tanks when he can't get his charge attacks off due to agressive enemies. And Cyno as "decent" is laughable, because he also has extremely low pull value. He needs a specific team to be relevant, and even then, he has to work so hard to get mid results compared to other characters. His ceiling is low, but his floor is rock bottom. I rate this tier list B- tier
for chiori you can run her in double geo comps alongside zhongli and use that as a core for a bunch of teams like with hutao and yelan, neuvillette and litterally anyone, tighnari and yae miko, dehya and bennett, heizou and furuzan, yoimiya and xingqiu, keqing and nahida, raiden and kujou sara,tartaglia and xiangling, xianyun and diluc/xiao/itto, ganyu bennett or shenhe, aloy and bennett, ayaka and kokomi(youll need to build crit ayaka), gaming and bennett, yanfei and xingqiu, ningguang and bennett, darksouls beidou and fischl, arlecchino and bennett, ayato and xiangling/bennett, xinyan and bennett, ayaka and rosaria, amber and bennett, klee, diluc, eula, wriothesly, lyney(id save him for the other half of the abyss) and theres prob more that i missed. Now by no means are these the best teams but ive gotten 36 stars using most of these teams with the chiori-zhongli base. so if you started resonantly and found yourself the proud owner of a chiori dont be discouraged and think you made a bad choice by this video.

Klees main problem was the fact that she cant vape, cause of the stupid amount of hydro she applies, now with kasuha,benneth,xiangling,furina,yelan etc. She is really good, plus her c2 makes her one of the best supports for showcases
Eula sadly suffers alot in AOE content maybe thats why atleast? Got a freind who c6-ed her (his only c6 so not really a massive whale just a diehard eula main) and took 2 days to 36* this abyss with her because of how bad she did in the waves chambers. Im sure klee with that much investment what have no problem 36* both AOE and sgt stuff atleast.
@zhuofanb childe is ofc better. The only content in the whole game his national team is remotely checked by is golden wolf cus u are forced to run a geo guy to break the mask phase. Otherwise no elemental check/dmg check/health check/aoe check thing can beat him.

I feel like niche is not the right way to describe these teams (Nilou in particular). I feel like the word ‘Specialist’ comes to mind, because all her teams can compete with the top teams in the game consistently. While her team building is restrictive, her teams absolutely are not niche or situational: they’re great for all sorts of content (except where there’s Dendro immunity or a cryo shield involved). To me, niche is more describing specific content the team/character excel in, not the specific or restrictive teams they excel in. But that’s more just a reframing of the word niche cause I’ve just seen a lot of people say niche characters aren’t good to invest in because they’re niche, but in reality those characters or teams excel in all the end game content.
As a Klee Main who equally enjoys Nahida, Furina and Navia, I respect the comments regarding the characters. Being a Klee main for so long, actually taught me to be more patient with DPS usage and character building. So, I am now honestly just sitting on some primogems waiting for Natlan.
Ganyu and diluc above xiao is a crazy take when xiao has so many teamates that do so much better damage than ganyu. Pyro xiao with c6 bennet cooks ganyu. Xiao with furina and jean cooks ganyu. Xiao can work effectively in a xiangling bennet core to clear abyss. Xiao works with many subdps. I hate this narative that xiao needs faruzan and xianyun to deal lots of damage when xiao has a variety of cores to clear abyss which sure aren't his best in slot but are very good bases to have when building up a team to clear abyss. Xiao deserves decent he's not that niche when he has atleast 6 teams to clear abyss
Ganyu prob the most overrated character in genshin imo. Her best team bennet nahida and xiangling barelly reaches 55k dps which is 2.0 levels of damage. Unless you run her at extremely high investment she is just not good.
I think Eula should go in niche with Itto because they have almost the exact same issue in terms of needing supports, their teams perform similar in terms of dps and lets be real, geo is just yellow physical.
A friend of mine got huge value from Venti in some of the imaginarium theatre rooms, and I'm really hoping for Venti to make a comeback in swarm heavy rooms in this new gamemode. Would honestly be on par with the Keqing comeback back in 3.X if it were to happen.

Ive had a question about the communities stance on Zhongli being a dps loss Is the dps lost so drastic that it negates the fact that you not longer lose dps when dodging and can focus your full rotation on the enemy while having def reduction?
Sadly many people are still thinking with spreadsheet numbers mindset. Nvm how the people most expert in the theorycrafting part of the game are usually the same ones that find joy in doing crit fishing showcases with like 10:300 ratios so they are biased in having high tolerance to restart a domain/abyss chamber 10s of times if they fail a dodge or 2. Reminds of the saying of take caution when asking a pro player about a non pvp game meta as their advice may actually lead you to have a worse experience overall.
@@agiant5715 I've always wondered that. His dps loss can't be so bad that it isn't made up for by the benefit of not having to dodge or not being staggered. Unless having that 3rd buffer makes your team THAT much stronger, but I'm not deep in the community so I'm genuinely curious
he doesn't reduce defense he just lowers resistances by about 15% iirc. and yes if you are a good player the amount of time that it takes to dodge a few times or just time your bursts right so that you can abuse the I frames on them is so little that it actually does make Zhongli a pretty significant damage loss. There are some characters however that really want to finish an animation that they can be interrupted during like Eula, Wanderer, Yoimiya, etc. but that's part of what makes them so bad in the first place.
I think it kind of depends, there are characters like yoimiya who have their strongest basic attacks at the end of their combo and having that resistance to interruption will help you get that, if you’re using characters that don’t have this issue it’s probably just better to run something else
@@zedith6045 I do agree that better players will be better off not using them since I've gotten accustomed to dodging and i-framing (thanks Bloodborne and Souls games), but I think that lies on the rng you get that specific run. My main thought is that the convenience of his shield makes up for it due to not needing to use as much stamina, consume resources (like burst and healing), and having continuous pressure makes up for the loss of dps, but I do understand what you're saying. It's more like a case-by-case thing, but stronger characters don't necessarily need him (Edit) Zhongli reduces all resistances by 20%
Tier lists are so subjective. I would not pull Childe now either but if you have him then you will likely use him even if you have Neuvillette. In current usage rate Childe sees far more use than characters like Ayaka, Navia, Xiao, Wanderer, Ganyu, Ayato, etc. Basically sees more play than most dps characters ranked higher tier than him regardless of patch or version most of the time. He even sees more use than Hu Tau and Wriothesley. It is rare Childe international is not in the top 10 teams used in Spiral Abyss. Sometimes top 4. So yeah. If you have him you will use him but I would not pull for him just like I would not pull for Hu Tau either despite being somewhat evergreen characters who are always pretty good. His team is so flexible that he has the most consistent split of usage on either floor of the Spiral Abyss. I think no other team in the game does this as consistently. It is like when you are not sure what team to use you can just throw in Childe International for the other side because the team can cover every need be it element coverage, AoE, single target, multi wave, or bosses.
Nilou should definitely be above niche, assuming it’s more about having to pull for characters to make them work rather than what characters are available to them in general. There’s plenty of only 4 star teams you can use that can relatively easily clear abyss 12 (dmc/collei/barbara, yaoyao/candace/collei, etc.) and while she is relegated to just dendro and hydro characters, you can still use pretty much any of them as long as you have the proper teammates. You could even argue that she enables more teams than she disables, considering the way her elemental application and damage works to begin with. Also healers are given way too much preference solely based on the fact they enable furina, when they’re kinda mid otherwise (the most flagrant offense in this list being Xianyun). That being said, it’s basically impossible to make a perfectly unilateral list when you consider pull value and dps contribution/general efficacy at the same time (nilou being the biggest indicator of this, I don’t think anyone’s gonna argue she doesn’t still have tier 0 teams), especially when you don’t play certain characters a lot (idk how much you play nilou, but it’s one of those things where you really have to love the playstyle and have a ton of experience to have a complete grasp of her flexibility and damage), but I think you did a very good job for the most part. Tl;DR: niche tier kinda nuked the list, but you still did a good job in spite of that
You saying that Diluc is not niche when his only good team is the same as Xiao's is really inconsistent of you. Also, There is no way that Eula and Yomiya are worst than Diluc or Itto.

@Saren_5 still, Vars is making the argument that Xiao is only meta in one team, it goes the same for diluc since it's the exact same team only with Benny instead of Faruzan. Also, I would argue you could play Xiao in an elemental soup team and that's probably about the same as Diluc in any other Pyro reaction team. So yeah, I'd argue they are both pretty much the same.

Agree on the first part. He is too high becasue of that team being very restirctive and expensive. But this team is so much better than Yoimiya or Eula. Better ST than Yoimiya and of coruse worlds ahead in AoE. And Eulas overall damage is just not that good. Plunge Diluc does really good damage. 150k to 200k are easily rechable with an R5 Rainshlasher. Like my Eula reaches roughly 300k at C0 with her burst. That's less than 2 - 3 Diluc plunges which are done significantly faster. Keep in mind this is at C0. With cons Eula gets better. Diluc not (LUL). But Xianyun and Furina cons are insane so his high Investment still can keep up.
Okay but the fact I wished for kokomi mostly because I liked her being kind of a “mermaid” when everyone said she was useless and now she is above so much chars and also is in literally 80% of my teams LOL
“Niche tier” is such a copout for lazy people. You know dang well S tier is based on some imagined restrictive OP meta team core that just gets the pass. Zhong is literally there with Neuv in mind.

Chiori is more useful than the niche category, I would say. Sure, her only meta team at C0 is Itto Mono Geo. However, she is definitely not restricted to that alone (or Navia teams). Case in point: I can run Zhongli and Chiori as a Double Geo pair in almost any team and clear the hardest content. I find them particularly useful for Vaporize teams when paired with Yelan and [Insert favorite Pyro DPS here]. Chiori does a TON of off-field Geo damage when her two dolls are active-hence why Zhongli is such a good partner for her since he creates constructs to bring out her true potential. I’ve even run Double Geo Double Hydro or Double Geo Double Pyro and done well. This tag team Geo pair is really slept on imo.
I don't think Xianyun is must pull unlike the other top tier in your tier list Yes she's strong, but must pull and build? Idk, maybe Excellent tier? Her buff isn't as universal as Kazuha and Furina. But Baizhu is still top tier even though he's niche character because his dendro reaction dmg amplify is absurd, has a shield and also healing your team at the same time (100% damage boost for dendro core damage and 40% damage boost for quicken is crazy).

Most polearm character are playing charged attack so.... The only character that fits with XIanyun are Diluc, Xiao, and maybe eula? but she need constant hit to maximize her burst so yeah... only Diluc and Xiao

I'd say the main thing holding Raiden Shogun back is that she's not f2p friendly AT ALL. She has so many stats to balance and her best weapon options are either locked behind a lot of fishing or are 5 stars. But going by just her abilities and flexibility, I'd say she's still a contender for the Top Tier. Good driver with decent damage and excellent team-wide energy generaion, easy rotations and a nuke is just crazy. Not to mention she can also be a great hyperbloom support as her aoe and uptime are a lot more consistent than Kuki's and got more range too.
I 100% agree. Not f2p myself but I like to hyper-horizontal invest with having no extra cons or signature weapons but trying to overcome it by having different characters cover for those defects (like plunge hu tao as replacement or c1 and zhongli nevuillete for the same). Sbougn is a big boost for dendro teams both althaium and classic quickbloom + other stuff like national. But i tried so hard trying to make her hypercarry at c0r0 and even with all the best supports including c6 sara/kazhua/c6 chevreuse, shes only doing ebough damage to clear up to weekly bosses lvl stuff not even close to abyss f12 lvl.
As a still relatively new player, Raiden was what helped my account get 36* for the first time using Rational without any 5* weapon and only notable con being Bennett C1. She requires a lot of investment into stats and whatnot, but that doesn't really make her any less f2p considering everyone else on that team are characters you get 100% free. We're in 2024 now and if you haven't farmed a R5 Catch at this point then you are definitely trolling.
@@agiant5715 I have her c3 r1 so my damage is already boosted significantly but even when I had her c0 r0 I farmed the Catch on her and got a crazy build along with it. Tho I am skeptical if my c0 r0 Raiden from back the wpuld be able to clear the current abyss that easily
@@lastorderx20001 I don't know how you're building her but even before I had her c3 r1 and before Chevreuse was released, she was able to hit around 250k in her former hypercarry team. Her build used to be a lot worse back then too, but I never really struggled with her. Given that I have her c3 r1 now, I can't really judge how good she'd be at c0 in the current abyss tho... According to my friend who has her c0 r1 with his Chevreuse c0 too, she still seems strong enough atm.
Dehya being in subpar is so outdated. She is at the very minimum a viable option for ganyu, yoimiya, neuvillette, arlecchino, clorinde, emilie, kinich, lyney, wriothesley and at some extend can be used with hutao, wanderer, eula and cyno and she is standard banner. Chevreuse and furina and emilie gave dehya so many opportunities to be slotted in teams. She is one of the very few characters with off field pyro application and paired with the sustain and IR she provides she is definitely average if not niche since she can solo sustain burning teams. She is a terribly desinged character and doesnt really use her burst in any of these teams, but she is miles above qiqi and alloy, being an f2p character that works with 70% of the main dps character at some extend. Also arlecchino is def top tier, even with her teams not being that good rn she still has the highest dps ceiling in the game, and she isnt fragile at all unlike popular belief.
I have full star this period of Abyss with Dehya burgeon lol. It's really Hoyoverse really don't know how to even design her. If she is kinda good like Thoma at least make her kit focused for Burgeon like Nilou for Bloom. Not sure why Hoyo didn't find this and only Dehya main found out Burgeon is her easy build and top build too...
Good list. I really only disagree with Nueve and Diluc. Diluc in average, he gets out performed by 4 stars in teams that want a pyro damage dealer because of his low scaling, slow animations and being claymore. His plunge team is niche and Gaming has higher damage and easier to play. The other characters in niche don't have better four star options for that niche. Nueve to excellent. I'm on controller, which makes him clunky to reposition and really hurts his AOE potential (no quick aim).
I think she's put in niche because her most comfortable position in any team is bloom, yes she utilizes a lot of free characters and there are a lot of options considering dendro and hydro are stacked, but they're still dendro and hydro, and that really is the only place nilou will thrive

Insted Xiao for example, what can u use? Fischl, Furina, Bennet, Zhongli, Xianyun, Faruzan, Albedo (not too good of an option tho), Jean with C4 and maybe that's all?. Like everything else u put there is kind troll, maybe some side option like rosaria+diona combo (for 15% crit and diona shielding) or yelan but it's a lot of power lose. Since Nilou's team almost work by only having dendros and hydros u can use almost all of them and the team damage will not vary too much. Furina, kokomi, Ayato, Candace (with a character using bassic attacks to apply hydro like yao yao which is really good here), xingchiu, yelan are all viable hydro applicator, even neuvilette is good cause he heals himself to survive the bloom explosions xd. For dendro u have Kirara, Baizhu, Yao yao, Collei, dendro traveler, Nahida and Kaveh. Idk i feel like Xiao is way more niche if we talk about making a team that can pass the abyss.
She is Niche in the broadest since of the term because she can only be used with dendro and hydro characters and only functions in one team. She is probably the most niche character in this list but I disagree that the niche tier is placed where it is. It should be more a separate and isolated tier that isnt comparable to the other tiers. What I mean by this is I don't think by any means Diluc, keqing are better than her tartaglia or xiao.
I think it’s strange to not really include main DPS characters in the top tier cause “they’re replaceable” as if Sub-DPS characters aren’t. You want a strong electro sub-DPS? You have Yae Miko, Kuki, Fischl, Raiden (depending on the team), Beidou and Lisa. That’s 6 different units. If you want to have a dendro main DPS for a double dendro team, you have like 3 units in Kaveh, Alhaitham and Tighnari… and those are also different teams in the end anyway. Realistically both main DPS and sub-DPS units are replaceable, just some are far less so than others. A pyro sub-DPS just is going to always be Xiangling, that’s because her role is so well covered by her and not many other characters can fill it and certainly don’t fill it as well as her. Replaceability comes down to each unit individually. You can swap Jean with Xianyun and vice versa on a Furina team despite them filling mostly the same role. You CANT replace Lyney on his team cause other characters don’t really synergise as well with Mono Pyro.

I still remember when Cryo was the beta was in 1.x-2.x. Coming back to the game after so long and realizing Cryo's poor state was shocking.
Cryo has the worst reaction in this game-superconduct. Electro is easily one of the best in the game and running a cryo unit causes weird anti-synergy.
Another problem is dendro requiring far less investment value vs hypercarry comps. The fact that cryo, like geo, has limited and weaker elemental reactions is also holding them back.
They need to rework both cryo and geo, but this is Genshin side of HoYo, they’re some of the most stubborn devs in gacha.

I would Switch Klee and Yoimiya. Yes Yoimiya is single target, but she is so easy to play, she attacks so fast that you almost don't need to move around to clean multiple waves of enemies. On the other hand, klee is too clunky to play. Even though I switched my yoimiya for arlechino for every much all the content, yoimiya has been cleaning all the content for me for the past 2 years
THANK YOU! The only thing you need to do with Yoi is throw a shielder on her team, put in an Anemo shredder and a Hydro applier for Vape, and you can wreck anything without worrying about animation cancels, HP levels and whatnot. She's SO comfy.
Yoi is pretty much meant for bossing and there are many bosses in abyss. Also, her teams are very flexible.

It doesn't matter how "comfy" she is when she can't clear anything that introduces a DUST of AoE. If you don't like Klee, that's fair, but she's better than her and so is every other Pyro DPS. And you have so many to choose from too! You have Diluc, Gaming, Yanfei, Hu Tao, Arlechino, Lyney and obviously Xiangling. You can even play DPS Bennett and he would be better than her 😭

Thats because they need very specific teammates while the decent tier works in a bunch of teams. for example can run melt, vaporize, vaporize plunge or mono pyro. Vaporize plunge is far superior to the others but there are options. Childe can run international or taser effectively but is a worse taser driver than sucrose. Nilou has by definition no options beside her nieche and xiao really got it rough if you dont build specifically his best teams nowadays. Faruzan and or xianyun are kinda required which heavily limits his teams aswell.thats right there. Is the definition of niche.

Playing a B tier team isn’t flexibility you are just choosing to be weak. Varrs rated the higher tier placements by the strength of their best teams. Do you really think zhong is S in a world where Neuv doesn’t exist? No. So Zhongli is “niche” as a nuev bot from a meta strength perspective.
This flexibility cope is only relevant if you have a weak account with limited options.
Nilou for example can sometimes have more real team options then someone like hu tao because of how many dendro and hydro units she can use. So is hu tao niche now?

tbf both childe and xiao require very high investments while still not being top dps. Childe is only as good as your Xiangling, and Xiao is very dependent on a set that no one should really be farming, and again the damage aren't the most impressive
@@wilburforce8046 IMO Zhongli isn't niche. He's a top tier option for Neuvillette (at c0), and he's still a premium option in many cases for Hu Tao, Arlecchino, and others. So yeah, without Neuvillette, Zhongli would still be S both for strength in role and flexibility. Just like with every version, I'm sure there will be meta DPS in Natlan that also prefer Zhongli on the team.

+ dont forgot about how his skill and burst were the easiest way to break abyss mages shields in the early game without needing to swap teammates (plus needing to build said teammates with low resources).
This, I was able to 36* the remainder of 1.X patches since 1.3 because of Anemo Traveler. Her Tornado Burst blocked by a wall deals so much damage as well.

I started playing after a long break (I stopped playing around when Dehya came out) , my best team was Ayaka+ Shenhe freeze team. Since I stated playing again I hardly use that team at all. Luckily I have Nahida so now I just play hyperbloom for everything it is crazy to me how bonkers dendro element is.
I knowwwww I'm still sobbing about it, all my favorite go-to characters are cryo and if it's not cryo it's hydro and I'm so sad about it. I came for the exploration/story, but I stayed for Kaeya - he was my first main and I love him to pieces even now. Wriothesley was my first 5* and I also still love him to pieces. First real shielder I built and began to use reliably? Layla. First 5* healer that I got and built and used? Qiqi.
I don't know why I have such a soft spot for cryo characters, but I do love all my cryo children and I am still waiting for the day cryo and freeze (my favorite reaction) finally get some love and attention
One is that it has an inherent link to physical which is in a terrible state [if only superconduct shred both phys and cryo; could eveb sub for VV eith superconduct], freeze being exclusively focused on raw dmg carried by MVs and buffing them, and melt having a dependence on the very fee pyro applicators we have and only one good pyro sub dps OPPA

Chlorinde's main advantage over cyno is bcs she is a skill dps imo. I have both cyno and CL with their sig weapons, and CynoBaizhuFurinaNahida did more than CL overload. However, one uses burst while the other uses skill. So theyre kinda very similar in terms of overall dmg output but CL is slightly more efficient bcs she doesnt suffer from er issues. I think the niche tier kinda ruins this list. There are too many overlaps between the tiers when you put all these characters in niche. Xiao/Bennett teams deserve to at least be in decent if we are comparing to standard 5 star characters in decent tier.
Childe being in niche while lyney is in two tiers above is very inconsistent as they both use the same characters and lyney has more dps loss with his charge shot playstyle. Both of them should at least be decent tier and held to same standards, according to your rules. I think this is probably just recency bias.
Nilou is “niche” but is still powerful and extremely accessible compared to any other dps. She can run completely f2p characters and still do good damage without farming high quality artifacts and investing in talents. That is enough to make her excellent for anyone who pulls her.

Well, Childe is a one trick pony, he is only great on National in any other team he is below average. So yeah they definitely dont clash cause Childe better in national (and that is mathematically talking, in actual gameplay i would say neuvilete is better even in national, so basically better than him in everyithing xd).
To be fair Keqing's main selling point is her excelent uptime. Her dps is not reliant on her burst like Cyno, and its CD is low enough to accomodate to the current mutivawe content in abyss.
Clorine does more damage, but without the OG electro artifact her CDs can be a bit iffy.
If they ever release a character that can reset Skill CDs that might be Childe's ticket back to the meta.
I would definetly had put Yae one tier lower. Her kit is way too clunky, and considering she is supposed to be an off field character, she is out way too much. Putting down all 3 turrets, then ult, then putting them down again...

No Yae is arguably the best electro for her versatility, she has 100% uptime and huge range especially at c2 and if she’s clunky for you that’s skill issue because all yae users know not to “eeeqeee” and you can use her e to dash from atks easily, don’t even compare keqing to the limited line up she just doesn’t compete in all their best teams like cyno quickbloom, clorinde aggravate and yae in general out dps any of her teams and ofc if u have multiple cons on her she would feel better than a less invested electro dps. Yae is the most flexible electro dps we have since she can also be sub dps and she’s very future proof in that regard
@@Marz333 Yae's problem, is that her E dash is not just slow, but it doesn't give you I-frames either. If you wanna use her on field, then she is subpar bcs of her weak normal and chrged attacks. If you wanna use her as an off-field dps, then she takes too much time to set up correctly. Fischl is almost always a better choice, bcs you can just press one buttin and she is basically at ful usefulness. Yae is nowhere near being the best electro, stop simping.
Cyno quickbloom is just an okay team. His burst cancels if you swap out, so any time a new set of enemies come you will fck up your rotation bcs you will have to put dendro back on them. You can either use DMC, but then you are just back to circle impact and fcked the moment an enemy goes outside of it, or pull for Baizhu, who is just not worth it to be honest, not to mention his ult does not have that consistent of a dendro buildup.
Funnily enough Clorinde quickbloom is better bcs all of her attacks are aoe and her cooldowns are much more friendly then Cyno

Which is 9 to 11 seconds that is the same as most on field carry like hutao,yoi,wrio,raiden,Itto,diluc,klee who all stay on field for 9-11s and i don't see people complain these characters are quickswap.
If anything childe is more flexible in the fact that he can extend his skill to match 15-18s like xiao,cyno, or reduce it to 5-8 navia,clorinde.
Mainly what i want to say is that his ticket back to the top meta is a better xiangling and/or bennett so that his team can do more dmg.
His skill CD is something that you as a player can easily work around. But doing more dmg is not
You know how they can fix Cryo? Release a character that increases Shatter Damage multiplyer like an Overload for Chevy or Bloom with Nilou. That way players are incentivise to do freeze shatter without making freeze overpowered.
I believe that Raiden's got ideal versatility for electro in general. Her E ticks with so many different kinds of attacks, I personally really love using the combination of her with Nahida and Neuvillette for extremely easy hyperbloom reactions, have the 4th slot be Zhongli for the sake of having a strong and dependable shield, and boom. Strong team that can take down almost anything. Given her burst, using Nahida's E makes it a healthy alternative for anything immune to hydro in case Neuvillette can't take it down.

In fairness, in the Childe section I had the same thought of putting Childe in excellent too.
Also, Lyney can use a range of supports to round out his team while Childe can only use bennett/xiangling/kazuha to complete International. He can't swap out any of them, whereas lyney's only obligatory pairing is bennett (xiangling is paired because she's bennett's best friend).
And finally - as a reminder this tier list also takes pull necessity into consideration. Childe international is one of those teams where OG players who already have him will use him, but I don't think it's really a team you want to go for in the modern day anymore.
@@VarsII it's most definitely a team that you still want to play. look up Childe international speedruns in abyss. it's still one of the strongest and most consistent teams in the game. Lyney is far more niche because not only does he require the same teammates to do good damage but he also has to worry about not being interrupted so he often performs a lot worse than he does in sheets because you either have to replace Kazuha with Zhongli which is a huge DPS loss or you have to dodge which is also a huge DPS loss

Pretty good tier list all things considered. The “niche” tier kinda makes zero sense; I get that you felt like you had to add it because the list has no stipulations, but some of the characters in niche can easily be added to other tiers if you just built in stipulations to the list. Since having Itto and Xiao in the same tier is both confusing and not really good design; Xiao being by far and away the better unit when both have their premium “niche” teams.

Please remember with this, pull for who you want. If you love a charachter, pull for them and use them. For example, I like to use dps Kirara. Is she the best dps in the world? No. Would Alhaitham or Tighnari or (fill in the blank) be a better dendro dps? Probably. But don't consider those questions unless you want to dedicate your playstyle to highest numbers possible. I like Kiraras playstyle, her charachter, and story. Remember, Genshin Impact is a game. So PLAY it and ENJOY it. And if someone else says "that charachter is garbage this one is so much better" blah blah blah, don't listen! Enjoy the game and the characters you love, don't feel ashamed for doing so!

Overall a decent list, but I strongly disagree with puting baizhu and xianyun as top tier. If you compare them to other in that list, nahida neuvilete, furina, they are not even close. Baizhu is more like a comfort pick, he is not core for any meta team. Xianyun enables weaker character, but thats it. Im not even sure if they deserve to be in ''excelent'' tier.

You say this as if any other character didn't have a condition to even be used, Furina's condition to be used is to have a healer, for Nahida it is to have a type based on proficiency and strong elemental reactions related to dendro, the value of yelan in a team that doesn't take advantage of its potential is simply ridiculous, and you can extend this to all characters, the fact that Furina's condition only requires a healer to work 100% is actually to its advantage, as the healer just allows her buff to work better and more consistently, which makes her the most versatile character in the game, entering LITERALLY any composition, from solo hydro with a hu-tao to an arlecchino or Nilou, they may not be teams that take advantage of 100%, But they are strong enough teams just because of Furina and a he@@akumatsubasa6727

I moved Nueve down to excellent. He's clunky on controllers which is how I play. No spin to win and quick reposition. But yeah can't argue with S on keyboard and mouse
nonsense to me, tarta niche and liney excelent, both need bennet xiangling (and anemo but easy to have any for international ) and international is less restricted by having 3 elements, if any element appear it is pretty much ok but if just one pyro ennemy is in a room you are stucked or loosing lot of dps with liney

Overall a good list, but some things i would change are:
-Baizhu should be in niche. For most dendro teams he is never bis because he offers only defensive support (his application is too bad and reaction buff too insignificant). He is only bis in the premium c1 Neuvillette+Furina team and there are a lot better dendeo drivers (Nahida/Alhaitham).
-Clorinde and Yae Miko should be in decent. Their damage compared to other dps characters is not very high and they are usually carried or replaced by Fischl.
-Nilou should be in excellent for the reasons you mentioned. Her team building restriction is not hindering her pull value, in fact she is one of the most f2p friendly characters.
-Klee should be in Average. Her damage is too low and her playstyle too clunky, even in her better teams she can be replaced.
-Sigewine should be subpar. She is basically hydro Qiqi. She has basically no application, insignifficant damage and offers nothing but healing. Her synergy with Furina is pointless when their teams are still worse than other Furina teams.
Don' forget according to tgs calcs zhongli is an upgrade in the neuv team.
I agree with klee. She’s strong with new units and is flexible in multiple pyro teams but learning her cancels puts her lower imo
Actualy, baizhu is onenof the best healers for teams with furina lol, jean competes with kazuha for the anemo slot, same for xianyun, so yeah
@@ryancorro-sp6gv Problem is all baizhu gives is minimal application and buffing which is comparable to sigewinne's. He is more so on the level of jean where they both provide healing but jeans larger VV buffs are contrasted with biazhu's inter res and more.

I mean honestly i agree with most of this, it just kinda sends me that baizhu and xianyun are above alhaitham and arlechino. Xianyun is just slightly better jean, what she provides is good but really when you look at the numbers its not s teir worthy imo, and baizhu, his buff is additive so its not all that insane. Alhaithem is like an onfeild nahida, and does SO MUCH damage.
Baizhu is one of my most used characters and i can say, hes not all that. Hes great at aggravate teams but thats really it, he doesnt apply enough dendro to reliably keep up with much else other then burning, but why would you bring him for that yk?
I also think Yelan should be down one teir, because of xingqui being crazy but i think that argument is much more subjective.
At this point you should just erase the niche tier, you're using it for the characters that only have one popular or meta team but thats the same case for most of the characters in the game, even the ones that you have on other tiers, for example
Alhacen/hyperbloom lyney/monoPyro (Ayaka, Ganyu)/Freeze Diluc/Plunge (Keching, Yae)/Aggravate Cyno/Hyperbloom Hu Tao/ Vape Xianyun/plunge Tignari/Spread. And its the same case for the lower tiers.
Also, I think that you're overating Jean, she is decent but she is only usable with Furina and even then she is never the option that you want to use. On mono hydro you better use Kokomi or Siswine as a healer in order to have kazuha for VV and for raiden doble hydro or any other team Xianyun with TTDS will be better even if you don't use any plunges. And Sayu does the exact same job Jean does
As a triple-crown diluc main, thank you for putting him in the decent tier. I've seen so many diluc haters throughout the years that keep calling him trash all because they lost their 50/50 to him. I never really liked hu tao, lyney, and yoimiya's playstyles which kept me from pulling for them. ever since I started the game until now, I still use diluc and he fits right perfectly in the tier that you put him in.
also I find it kinda funny how most of the units I play are all on the decent tier
Can you do a tier list on the best characters to pull for each element theater? I assume it would be characters who don't rely on other characters to function at the top
That's a fun idea especially if in the future they increased its difficulty so non dps oriented characters cant cheese though it. A good example of someone who has a different standing in theatre compared to other game content for me atleast was venti. Many chambers had only suckable mobs and especially in the defense of the monolith one he was a much greater use even compared to my top dps arlecchino (basically solo-ed 3 chambers with only his Qs).

For now, everyone can be good enough. The best are the one who can be play on field and off field, because they will be great if you don't have a dps or if you have to play 2 or 3 dps together.
For me, it's just a bad approach calling itto/xiao niches. I mean, if you say so, why is Ayaka not niche as well?? She has one viable team, Wich is freeze. She can play at melt as well xiao can play taser, but they are just bad at it. You can change the hydro/cryo.options, the same way you can change between xianyun/zhongli/furina/bennet in xiao teams. It just not make sense at all to call xiao/itto/Klee niche and then put Ayaka at not niche

The dehya ranking is soooo outdated 😭 sure she's still bad but she's not QIQI or ALOY level bad she can actually be a decent pyro defensive option for neuv, wrio, arlecchino, chlorinde and lyney, this I feel makes her at least above the bottom tier. If you require a very specific character to be relevant, you are not decent, you are niche. Diluc should not be decent tier. You defined niche immediately after saying "they only have one team". Well Diluc only has one team.
Putting Childe in niche is WILD. Childe's national team is still incredibly meta. His taser, hyperbloom teams are all servicable. Nobody pulls for childe because he's had very few banners recently. This is more of a Neuvilette problem where Nuevilette is just too strong and overshadows all hydro DPSs. What's even more wild is putting Ayato as decent. There aren't issues that Childe has that Ayato does not . The only thing Ayato has going for him is that if you build him with Er he's a cope off field hydro applicator.
Where are you getting this information that Xiao has a top 5 team? There are so many teams out there that I'm calling complete cap on this. Also, Bennett can comfortably replace any of his "required" supports and he'll be fine. I agree with your ranking but not your reasoning. Xiao is aweful in domains where enemies spawn on opposite side if the map, which is what is what abyss chambers have been spawning as. Xiao's only way of dealing with this is using E dor mobility instead of damage, which greatly nerfs his personal damage and energy generation.
I think you need to be more consistent with who you consider niche. There's a lot of other instances of this too. You put Lynney in excellent while he suffers from only having one team. You justify this by saying "who doesn't have Bennett and Xiangling" while this pair is also exactly what Childe wants on his "only team". Not to mention his glaring weakness of being the squishiest 5* in the game, and his dpc completely tanks when he can't get his charge attacks off due to agressive enemies.
And Cyno as "decent" is laughable, because he also has extremely low pull value. He needs a specific team to be relevant, and even then, he has to work so hard to get mid results compared to other characters. His ceiling is low, but his floor is rock bottom.
I rate this tier list B- tier

for chiori you can run her in double geo comps alongside zhongli and use that as a core for a bunch of teams like with hutao and yelan, neuvillette and litterally anyone, tighnari and yae miko, dehya and bennett, heizou and furuzan, yoimiya and xingqiu, keqing and nahida, raiden and kujou sara,tartaglia and xiangling, xianyun and diluc/xiao/itto, ganyu bennett or shenhe, aloy and bennett, ayaka and kokomi(youll need to build crit ayaka), gaming and bennett, yanfei and xingqiu, ningguang and bennett, darksouls beidou and fischl, arlecchino and bennett, ayato and xiangling/bennett, xinyan and bennett, ayaka and rosaria, amber and bennett, klee, diluc, eula, wriothesly, lyney(id save him for the other half of the abyss) and theres prob more that i missed. Now by no means are these the best teams but ive gotten 36 stars using most of these teams with the chiori-zhongli base. so if you started resonantly and found yourself the proud owner of a chiori dont be discouraged and think you made a bad choice by this video.

Eula sadly suffers alot in AOE content maybe thats why atleast? Got a freind who c6-ed her (his only c6 so not really a massive whale just a diehard eula main) and took 2 days to 36* this abyss with her because of how bad she did in the waves chambers. Im sure klee with that much investment what have no problem 36* both AOE and sgt stuff atleast.

I feel like niche is not the right way to describe these teams (Nilou in particular). I feel like the word ‘Specialist’ comes to mind, because all her teams can compete with the top teams in the game consistently. While her team building is restrictive, her teams absolutely are not niche or situational: they’re great for all sorts of content (except where there’s Dendro immunity or a cryo shield involved). To me, niche is more describing specific content the team/character excel in, not the specific or restrictive teams they excel in. But that’s more just a reframing of the word niche cause I’ve just seen a lot of people say niche characters aren’t good to invest in because they’re niche, but in reality those characters or teams excel in all the end game content.

As a Klee Main who equally enjoys Nahida, Furina and Navia, I respect the comments regarding the characters.
Being a Klee main for so long, actually taught me to be more patient with DPS usage and character building.
So, I am now honestly just sitting on some primogems waiting for Natlan.
Ganyu and diluc above xiao is a crazy take when xiao has so many teamates that do so much better damage than ganyu. Pyro xiao with c6 bennet cooks ganyu. Xiao with furina and jean cooks ganyu. Xiao can work effectively in a xiangling bennet core to clear abyss. Xiao works with many subdps. I hate this narative that xiao needs faruzan and xianyun to deal lots of damage when xiao has a variety of cores to clear abyss which sure aren't his best in slot but are very good bases to have when building up a team to clear abyss. Xiao deserves decent he's not that niche when he has atleast 6 teams to clear abyss

Ganyu prob the most overrated character in genshin imo. Her best team bennet nahida and xiangling barelly reaches 55k dps which is 2.0 levels of damage. Unless you run her at extremely high investment she is just not good.

I think Eula should go in niche with Itto because they have almost the exact same issue in terms of needing supports, their teams perform similar in terms of dps and lets be real, geo is just yellow physical.

A friend of mine got huge value from Venti in some of the imaginarium theatre rooms, and I'm really hoping for Venti to make a comeback in swarm heavy rooms in this new gamemode. Would honestly be on par with the Keqing comeback back in 3.X if it were to happen.
I'm kinda surprised that Traveler wasn't even considered, but Aloy, a 3* character, at least made a cameo.

Is the dps lost so drastic that it negates the fact that you not longer lose dps when dodging and can focus your full rotation on the enemy while having def reduction?
Sadly many people are still thinking with spreadsheet numbers mindset. Nvm how the people most expert in the theorycrafting part of the game are usually the same ones that find joy in doing crit fishing showcases with like 10:300 ratios so they are biased in having high tolerance to restart a domain/abyss chamber 10s of times if they fail a dodge or 2.
Reminds of the saying of take caution when asking a pro player about a non pvp game meta as their advice may actually lead you to have a worse experience overall.
@@agiant5715 I've always wondered that. His dps loss can't be so bad that it isn't made up for by the benefit of not having to dodge or not being staggered. Unless having that 3rd buffer makes your team THAT much stronger, but I'm not deep in the community so I'm genuinely curious
he doesn't reduce defense he just lowers resistances by about 15% iirc. and yes if you are a good player the amount of time that it takes to dodge a few times or just time your bursts right so that you can abuse the I frames on them is so little that it actually does make Zhongli a pretty significant damage loss. There are some characters however that really want to finish an animation that they can be interrupted during like Eula, Wanderer, Yoimiya, etc. but that's part of what makes them so bad in the first place.
I think it kind of depends, there are characters like yoimiya who have their strongest basic attacks at the end of their combo and having that resistance to interruption will help you get that, if you’re using characters that don’t have this issue it’s probably just better to run something else
@@zedith6045 I do agree that better players will be better off not using them since I've gotten accustomed to dodging and i-framing (thanks Bloodborne and Souls games), but I think that lies on the rng you get that specific run.
My main thought is that the convenience of his shield makes up for it due to not needing to use as much stamina, consume resources (like burst and healing), and having continuous pressure makes up for the loss of dps, but I do understand what you're saying. It's more like a case-by-case thing, but stronger characters don't necessarily need him

Tier lists are so subjective. I would not pull Childe now either but if you have him then you will likely use him even if you have Neuvillette. In current usage rate Childe sees far more use than characters like Ayaka, Navia, Xiao, Wanderer, Ganyu, Ayato, etc. Basically sees more play than most dps characters ranked higher tier than him regardless of patch or version most of the time. He even sees more use than Hu Tau and Wriothesley. It is rare Childe international is not in the top 10 teams used in Spiral Abyss. Sometimes top 4.
So yeah. If you have him you will use him but I would not pull for him just like I would not pull for Hu Tau either despite being somewhat evergreen characters who are always pretty good. His team is so flexible that he has the most consistent split of usage on either floor of the Spiral Abyss. I think no other team in the game does this as consistently.
It is like when you are not sure what team to use you can just throw in Childe International for the other side because the team can cover every need be it element coverage, AoE, single target, multi wave, or bosses.
Nilou should definitely be above niche, assuming it’s more about having to pull for characters to make them work rather than what characters are available to them in general. There’s plenty of only 4 star teams you can use that can relatively easily clear abyss 12 (dmc/collei/barbara, yaoyao/candace/collei, etc.) and while she is relegated to just dendro and hydro characters, you can still use pretty much any of them as long as you have the proper teammates. You could even argue that she enables more teams than she disables, considering the way her elemental application and damage works to begin with. Also healers are given way too much preference solely based on the fact they enable furina, when they’re kinda mid otherwise (the most flagrant offense in this list being Xianyun). That being said, it’s basically impossible to make a perfectly unilateral list when you consider pull value and dps contribution/general efficacy at the same time (nilou being the biggest indicator of this, I don’t think anyone’s gonna argue she doesn’t still have tier 0 teams), especially when you don’t play certain characters a lot (idk how much you play nilou, but it’s one of those things where you really have to love the playstyle and have a ton of experience to have a complete grasp of her flexibility and damage), but I think you did a very good job for the most part.
Tl;DR: niche tier kinda nuked the list, but you still did a good job in spite of that

@Saren_5 still, Vars is making the argument that Xiao is only meta in one team, it goes the same for diluc since it's the exact same team only with Benny instead of Faruzan. Also, I would argue you could play Xiao in an elemental soup team and that's probably about the same as Diluc in any other Pyro reaction team. So yeah, I'd argue they are both pretty much the same.

Agree on the first part. He is too high becasue of that team being very restirctive and expensive.
But this team is so much better than Yoimiya or Eula. Better ST than Yoimiya and of coruse worlds ahead in AoE.
And Eulas overall damage is just not that good. Plunge Diluc does really good damage. 150k to 200k are easily rechable with an R5 Rainshlasher. Like my Eula reaches roughly 300k at C0 with her burst. That's less than 2 - 3 Diluc plunges which are done significantly faster. Keep in mind this is at C0. With cons Eula gets better. Diluc not (LUL). But Xianyun and Furina cons are insane so his high Investment still can keep up.
Okay but the fact I wished for kokomi mostly because I liked her being kind of a “mermaid” when everyone said she was useless and now she is above so much chars and also is in literally 80% of my teams LOL

Chiori is more useful than the niche category, I would say. Sure, her only meta team at C0 is Itto Mono Geo. However, she is definitely not restricted to that alone (or Navia teams). Case in point: I can run Zhongli and Chiori as a Double Geo pair in almost any team and clear the hardest content. I find them particularly useful for Vaporize teams when paired with Yelan and [Insert favorite Pyro DPS here]. Chiori does a TON of off-field Geo damage when her two dolls are active-hence why Zhongli is such a good partner for her since he creates constructs to bring out her true potential. I’ve even run Double Geo Double Hydro or Double Geo Double Pyro and done well. This tag team Geo pair is really slept on imo.
I don't think Xianyun is must pull unlike the other top tier in your tier list
Yes she's strong, but must pull and build? Idk, maybe Excellent tier? Her buff isn't as universal as Kazuha and Furina.
But Baizhu is still top tier even though he's niche character because his dendro reaction dmg amplify is absurd, has a shield and also healing your team at the same time (100% damage boost for dendro core damage and 40% damage boost for quicken is crazy).

Also I have Xianyun and she's only good with Polearm and Claymore character. Most polearm character are playing charged attack so.... The only character that fits with XIanyun are Diluc, Xiao, and maybe eula? but she need constant hit to maximize her burst so yeah... only Diluc and Xiao

I'd say the main thing holding Raiden Shogun back is that she's not f2p friendly AT ALL.
She has so many stats to balance and her best weapon options are either locked behind a lot of fishing or are 5 stars.
But going by just her abilities and flexibility, I'd say she's still a contender for the Top Tier.
Good driver with decent damage and excellent team-wide energy generaion, easy rotations and a nuke is just crazy.
Not to mention she can also be a great hyperbloom support as her aoe and uptime are a lot more consistent than Kuki's and got more range too.
I 100% agree. Not f2p myself but I like to hyper-horizontal invest with having no extra cons or signature weapons but trying to overcome it by having different characters cover for those defects (like plunge hu tao as replacement or c1 and zhongli nevuillete for the same). Sbougn is a big boost for dendro teams both althaium and classic quickbloom + other stuff like national. But i tried so hard trying to make her hypercarry at c0r0 and even with all the best supports including c6 sara/kazhua/c6 chevreuse, shes only doing ebough damage to clear up to weekly bosses lvl stuff not even close to abyss f12 lvl.

Raiden hitting lower than a Xiao plunge is not a crazy nuke
As a still relatively new player, Raiden was what helped my account get 36* for the first time using Rational without any 5* weapon and only notable con being Bennett C1. She requires a lot of investment into stats and whatnot, but that doesn't really make her any less f2p considering everyone else on that team are characters you get 100% free. We're in 2024 now and if you haven't farmed a R5 Catch at this point then you are definitely trolling.
@@agiant5715 I have her c3 r1 so my damage is already boosted significantly but even when I had her c0 r0 I farmed the Catch on her and got a crazy build along with it.
Tho I am skeptical if my c0 r0 Raiden from back the wpuld be able to clear the current abyss that easily
@@lastorderx20001 I don't know how you're building her but even before I had her c3 r1 and before Chevreuse was released, she was able to hit around 250k in her former hypercarry team.
Her build used to be a lot worse back then too, but I never really struggled with her.
Given that I have her c3 r1 now, I can't really judge how good she'd be at c0 in the current abyss tho...
According to my friend who has her c0 r1 with his Chevreuse c0 too, she still seems strong enough atm.

Dehya being in subpar is so outdated. She is at the very minimum a viable option for ganyu, yoimiya, neuvillette, arlecchino, clorinde, emilie, kinich, lyney, wriothesley and at some extend can be used with hutao, wanderer, eula and cyno and she is standard banner. Chevreuse and furina and emilie gave dehya so many opportunities to be slotted in teams. She is one of the very few characters with off field pyro application and paired with the sustain and IR she provides she is definitely average if not niche since she can solo sustain burning teams. She is a terribly desinged character and doesnt really use her burst in any of these teams, but she is miles above qiqi and alloy, being an f2p character that works with 70% of the main dps character at some extend.
Also arlecchino is def top tier, even with her teams not being that good rn she still has the highest dps ceiling in the game, and she isnt fragile at all unlike popular belief.
Agree she should be higher but listing all those characters which their compatibility in a bit iffy is werid.

I have full star this period of Abyss with Dehya burgeon lol. It's really Hoyoverse really don't know how to even design her. If she is kinda good like Thoma at least make her kit focused for Burgeon like Nilou for Bloom. Not sure why Hoyo didn't find this and only Dehya main found out Burgeon is her easy build and top build too...
Good list. I really only disagree with Nueve and Diluc. Diluc in average, he gets out performed by 4 stars in teams that want a pyro damage dealer because of his low scaling, slow animations and being claymore. His plunge team is niche and Gaming has higher damage and easier to play. The other characters in niche don't have better four star options for that niche. Nueve to excellent. I'm on controller, which makes him clunky to reposition and really hurts his AOE potential (no quick aim).
i feel like nilou shouldnt be considered niche seeing as she is one of the only 5stars who can make an amazing team with exculsivley free characters
I think she's put in niche because her most comfortable position in any team is bloom, yes she utilizes a lot of free characters and there are a lot of options considering dendro and hydro are stacked, but they're still dendro and hydro, and that really is the only place nilou will thrive
@@ultimateobsesser Like team building is niche but at the same time is not. Like yeah she needs only hydro and dendro but she can use a lot of them there are more than 10 characters no doubt. Insted Xiao for example, what can u use? Fischl, Furina, Bennet, Zhongli, Xianyun, Faruzan, Albedo (not too good of an option tho), Jean with C4 and maybe that's all?. Like everything else u put there is kind troll, maybe some side option like rosaria+diona combo (for 15% crit and diona shielding) or yelan but it's a lot of power lose. Since Nilou's team almost work by only having dendros and hydros u can use almost all of them and the team damage will not vary too much. Furina, kokomi, Ayato, Candace (with a character using bassic attacks to apply hydro like yao yao which is really good here), xingchiu, yelan are all viable hydro applicator, even neuvilette is good cause he heals himself to survive the bloom explosions xd. For dendro u have Kirara, Baizhu, Yao yao, Collei, dendro traveler, Nahida and Kaveh. Idk i feel like Xiao is way more niche if we talk about making a team that can pass the abyss.
She is Niche in the broadest since of the term because she can only be used with dendro and hydro characters and only functions in one team. She is probably the most niche character in this list but I disagree that the niche tier is placed where it is. It should be more a separate and isolated tier that isnt comparable to the other tiers. What I mean by this is I don't think by any means Diluc, keqing are better than her tartaglia or xiao.
I think it’s strange to not really include main DPS characters in the top tier cause “they’re replaceable” as if Sub-DPS characters aren’t.
You want a strong electro sub-DPS? You have Yae Miko, Kuki, Fischl, Raiden (depending on the team), Beidou and Lisa. That’s 6 different units. If you want to have a dendro main DPS for a double dendro team, you have like 3 units in Kaveh, Alhaitham and Tighnari… and those are also different teams in the end anyway.
Realistically both main DPS and sub-DPS units are replaceable, just some are far less so than others. A pyro sub-DPS just is going to always be Xiangling, that’s because her role is so well covered by her and not many other characters can fill it and certainly don’t fill it as well as her. Replaceability comes down to each unit individually. You can swap Jean with Xianyun and vice versa on a Furina team despite them filling mostly the same role. You CANT replace Lyney on his team cause other characters don’t really synergise as well with Mono Pyro.
