    Thanks to strict new laws turning unauthorised migration into a criminal offence and a controversial deal with Libya, Italy is cracking down on immigration.
    " Look at them - ugly mugs! " A citizen patrol group is targeting immigrants. Groups like these are now legal and meant to help the police fight drug dealers. Some residents are sceptical: "We should integrate those people, not hunt them down." But others welcome the new laws. "No more Mr Nice guy, we' re fed up! " Negative press has turned immigration into a devil in the public 's eye but it seems Italians no longer need to fear: the government has closed the gateway to Europe. Libya is preventing migrants from leaving and Italy's pushing back boats intercepted near Lampedusa. The need for political asylum is not considered. Most drastically, doctors are now obliged to report migrants without documents to the authorities. " I think it's a stupid law ," says this MSF doctor, "almost all of us will take no notice ."

    If they put as much energy in fighting their problems back home as they do fighting deportation, they would still be there and happier. All they did back home was stand around, smoke and dodge the odd bullet (supposedly). Now in the new host country all they do is stand around and smoke, asking where their food and house is. Unbelievable sense of entitlement.

    Cultural identity is important and vital in human development and progression. Most liberals today say that a conservative country are usually backwards and do not progress but look at Japan and South Korea. Their population is homogeneous and yet still manage to progress even more than most european countries.

      neither japan and korea are conservative in any matter and they are 100% against religion being ruled in a country

      I don't want economic migrants, refugees I'll take them but tell me: what should we do when they call the navy saying they're going down? Should we let them die and ignore the sos calls?

      Simple, go to their aid, take them off their boat and give first aid/water/food on the navel vessel, then sail vessel back to where they came, let them disembark. It's not rocket science! Taking them to Italy is simply encouraging more and more to die.

      Celtic Saint You can't becasue all libyan "Governaments" have said they would consider the entrance of Italian and foreign ships an act of war and invasion. The italian consitution prohibites declaring war or engaging war. If it were that simple we would have done it already, genius. Try again

    Imagine the country as a family household. No one, of sound mind, would blame the inhabitants of that household rejecting, even fighting of the foreigners.

    The Northern League is just as anti-Southern Italian, so how does this prove Italy is "anti-immigration?"

    • @ArmandoBellagio
      @ArmandoBellagio 8 лет назад

      True. I guess they say this because they are in government.

    I hope you realize this video is from 7 YEARS AGO!!! I mean, what's the point in re-uploading that now? The northern league is not a big party in Italy, what you see at the beginnig of the video is something which happened for a couple of months in a city ruled by the northern league, but now it's over and it doesn't represent the way migrants are treated in Italy. Come here, and see how many migrants live in hotels, completely destroying turism (of course it's not their fault, but the government which decided to put them there) or in assistance centres...talk about those who put on fire some italian centres in order to protest or throw italian food in the bin because "they are not accostumed to pasta, pizza and the italian food in general" and they want something better. I mean, I thought that italian food was not that bad for people escaping from starvation but ok (let alone the fact that the same food is eaten by the poor italians at caritas so, it's not that we give them shit). The italian government needs to wake up and understand that if you take so many immigrants all at once in a country with a crappy economy and increasing poverty like italy, the result is a war between the poor people, especially when northern countries start building walls to block the immigration. If they are refugees ok, but sorry, I think the economic mingrants have to be taken back, at least for now, otherwise the social tension and intolerance is gonna increase day by day. Immigration is good, but you can't assimilate all these people in such less time in a country with so many problems.
