He always made it look so easy. A piano genius if ever I saw one.

To anyone who might complain about all the racket/background noise: In the history of "Jazz" music, 99% of all gigs were this type, even for the top-level cats. Reality. The adoring focused hushed audience of acolytes, rarely or never exists or existed in the real world of gigging,

Thanks for this one. He grew up with my Dad. My Father's nickname was Red. Everytime he and my Mom wandered into the Copley shows, Dave would break into Red Sails at Sunset...

Busy place, I wonder how many people knew how lucky they were just to be in the same place with such an excellent pianist. I hope they paid really high music charge..........
Dave is in his element, he always claimed he was just a saloon piano player but nobody ever played "saloon piano" any better!
    Thanks for sharing!

My mentor. I had the honor of hanging with him. The Bar Room piano a rare breed.

No one can slip into the next tune quite so seamlessly.

Dave McKenna is not "a pianist". It's a band leader in his own full right, conducting a complete ten pieces combo (more, if you count the feet too) in a Unique Superb Way.

It's so nice to have a front row seat to hear and see the amazing Dave McKenna, who spun flawless improvisations at the keyboard. He was extraordinary! Thanks so much for posting this priceless clip.

It seems that they know how to use the avaible space of the place to the maximum, Good Dave got lucky that the Grand was not traded for a Rhodes 😅

Not that bad. I've been to plenty of places where good musicians were completely drowned out. Also, the people nearby seem to be paying close attention, even maybe appropriately amazed.
