As always, thanks for watching! I loveee Jayde's house and she got it for a great price, just minutes from the beach. Would you live in Puerto Plata? I'd love to hear your thoughts below✨
Hi Mills! My fiance and I are planning on moving to the DR in a few months, Cabarete area specifically. We plan on staying for 1-2 years, depends on how it goes. Can you speak to the "tourist card"- I've watched several of your videos & I know you mentioned if you don't go the Residency route, that you will just be charged extra money when you leave the country depending on how long you overstayed- does that still ring true? I hope so! Also, can you lmk of certain item you would recommend on bringing that you just cant find in the DR? Anything would help as we start to prepare for this new chapter! Muchas gracias!
Can you please please please give me info of those apts or that area it looks sooo relaxing i am so very interested with moving to DR very very soon but i am having trouble with contacting a reliable and safe realtor within DR. Thank you so much for sharing
I'm in the same boat. Financially, my wife and I are in a very good place, but we still have to wait until we can touch our retirement money. In the meantime, I watch videos like these! 😂😂
$345 a month for a 2 br 3 bathroom HOUSE in Toro Alta with a garage and someone tried to tell me that $300 for a 1br apartment in Puerto Plata might not be realistic.
And it's not like it's an all Dominican neighborhood. They said there's a lot of expats around. Usually in neighborhoods with a lot of expats the price is higher. She did say she got a deal at $345/month but even without the deal it would have been $434/month. Crazy. That's how much I pay in HOA fee and Property taxes for my townhouse in the DC area.
Hello i just saw your youtube video on apt in Puerto Plata. I live in Santo Domingo and am looking to move to the Puerto Plata, Cabarete Sosua area in May. I will pay a finders fee of $500 Dollars to whoever can help me find an apt. I am looking for a non furnished apt 1-2 Br for $400-$500 / month long term at least 1 yr lease. Thank you very much,
I am very interested in buying a house in DR. I will be moving to DR full time once my Son is 18. It does not have to be a tourist town. Something affordable.
I'm From Philly and I have my five yr retirement plan in play... I will be moving to the Dr. So I'm doing my research, I'm familiar with the the area I've been going back in forth 6 yrs 3 times a yr. The US has to much going on right now I'm sick the bs.
You mean that all your water supply is from a truck delivery for the tank? What about hot water? Can you recommend ( not resort hotels) quiet hotels in the Puerto Plata area near stores and restaurants for people without a car who want a quiet visit?
Mom and dad were born there so I’m Dominican to but I was born in the United States but yeah not every place that looks dangerous is dangerous just some thing just want to put down
I love this house and neighborhood. The lady is so cute. She even looks Dominicana! Can you please make a video with a house with a little yard for having a garden?
the vibe I get from this gal is she is supremely pampered and looked after by others and my bet is if she did start to sweat, or deal with power disruptions, she will throw temper tantrums until she got all these people looking out for her to fix it.
HI..And blessing to you and your family.....Question....what is the name of the area in Puerto Plata that you live in? It looks Like a quiet and calm place to live....thanks
Great video. I'd like to know what neighborhood this is in Puerto Plata City.(Cuidad Puerto Plata) I don't mean the province of Puerto Plata .I mean specifically the city
My daughter and I are hoping to relocate to the Dominican republic in December. Due to Covid I am now a permanent remote worker and no longer have to go into an office. I was born in La Vega Dominican republic but live in the States. Our moving to that area solely depends on the strength of the internet. I’ve heard the capital has the best internet, including fiber. But I’m a Cibaeña at heart. Is the internet in Puerto Plata or Cabarete reliable? Reliable enough for zoom calls, interfacing with networks in the States etc.?
yes it is!! you can always get a backup connection as well, a generator in case it goes out, and a portable hotspot! i used to do lots of calls with the US and was fine.
Great video! Listening to the experiences of other expats is so important to me. I do want to hear more about her remote work and the decision to give birth there. Will the baby have American citizenship because of the mom...or dual citizenships?
Me too!! I love seeing other experiences. Baby will probably have dual, they’ll need to apply based on both parents! what would you like to know about the remote work?
I love it! very nice video and exactly what I am searching for (Puerto plata). do you guys know if there is any Association/ group/Expat club can help new people want to move to DR?
there is a facebook group called expats living in the dominican republic where you can ask questions, deff some hostile people in there though lol. i also do consults if you need help!
Very useful and valuable video. Lovely home! Thank you so much for including pricing too. I’m visiting the island in January, and this will give me a sense of the living standards in Puerto Plata. 🌹
Beautiful home. Can I ask you how were you able to work remotely? I currently work a remote job here in the states and will like to move to DR but can't find any remote jobs. Any info would be greatly appreciated. 😊
Thanks! I am self employed and have my own clients. When I was in DR I would just tell them I lived there. In Jaydes case she got approval from her US employer to work remotely from the DR!
Love your videos! My husband and I actually moved to the DR in January. We are still looking for a good place to rent. I’ve heard of Torre Alta but haven’t been to the neighborhood yet. Would your friend Jade be willing to give us her listing agents info so we can rent a place there? We are staying in Cabarete now. Keep up these helpful videos.
My aunt lives in Torre Alta she has a beautiful house overlooking the ocean and everytime we visit I’ve always felt safe there it’s a really good neighborhood just like the Caobas in Puerto Plata
Is there any way you can connect my wife and I with the lady in this video? We are actually from Cincinnati as well lol. We are seriously considering relocating to the DR and the area she's in looks great. We would love to pick her brain. Thanks for the content!
yeah for sure! funnily enough she lives back in cincinnati now so maybe you guys could connect there! shoot me a message on IG at @rebeccamillsss and i’ll send you her page!
Great video. Mills you are the best. This is actually a great concept, having other expats give a breakdown of the life in DR as well as cost of living. One thing to keep in mind when it comes to electricity, the cost goes up dramatically as you use more kilowats. so keep an eye on your kilowatt hours per month.
So I’m still waiting on a few things but still leaving. Friends are asking about credit and I know my US credit won’t go with me so how does it work there? Can you show us something on transportation since I still don’t know if I wanna take my car full time?
Hey, I don’t live in the DR but my family are from there and if you have credit in the US it helps a lot. The only thing is that in order to get a bank account in the DR it is very helpful to be able to get residency and the ID from there.
a lot of crap talk, living in torre alta, and to your opinion RD its ok, what about safty? I want to see another video in two years time,.... the dom rep cost of living its higher than europe... dont believe any of this,. punto
