A lot of the humour in Debiteuren Crediteuren can’t be transferred through subtitles. Mostly it’s based on very typical Dutch mannerisms, which add up into a hyperbole of how lame the typical office life is. I love this show, but I don’t think it was a good suggestion for you to watch.

I agree, because there are some episodes which are very rude, with a lot of sexual language. I never liked that kind of humour.

I also agree......Jiskefet i(in general) is excellent with their physical humor but a lot is lost in translation here or has a cultural aspect that you need to be somewhat aware about to "get" the joke.

Imagine if he had picked the episode with Hans Teuwen as Sinterklaas.. or the one in which they 'taught' Edgar how to play 'stiften'..
I guess it'd be inexplicable to anyone who hasn't been raised dutch what makes these episodes hilarious to (many) dutchmen.

Jiskefet was a comedy team (the 3 guys) which had a tv sketch show. At some point they added this Debiteuren Crediteuren bit at the end. It was so successful they made a separate show of it. It is a spoof on a generic Dutch office. They way they say good morning for example, everybody jokingly said that at the coffee machine. These things and other nuances are a bit lost in translation I'm afraid.

Debiteuren Crediteuren is the best Jiskefet has ever done. So funny 😄 They always start in the same way with a joke about the tramstop and their lunch box contents. It's really easy to start connecting with the characters even after watching only one episode. So the more you watch, the funnier everything they do gets ;)

like others say, Jiskefet, either Debiteuren Crediteuren or Lulllo's have many references to typical Dutch accents, expressions, or customs. Debiteuren Crediteuren als make use of repetition every show, when the employees start "working", to emphasize the repetition of doing the same thing every day, like you see with typical administration officer/civil servants jobs. So its a persiflage or parody of the boring 9 to 5 job and doing nothing. "Storm", the big guy is their typical alpha boss, always bragging, claims he was at the commandos. My fav scene is from the show "Stiften".

Loekie de Leeuw (Loekie The Lion) is a Dutch tv mascot that showed up when commercial blocks started and ended. It was a real puppet, kinda like the Muppets, that was a 30sec sketch on its own. Always doing something that reflected what was happening at the time like World Cup, Olympics or seasonal things etc.

Great show, "Debts and credits" by Jiskevet.
The key thing is that, like in 'every' office, virtually every day the same thing happens again.
"Debts and credits" took this concept, and took off with it: every time the same thing actually happens, but with a different twist.👴👌😁

I think you also should watch one of Jiskefet - De Lullo's. For context: It's about a couple of guys who are everlasting students. Loekie de Leeuw (lion) was years ago used as an intermission in between commercial breaks on national television, some sort of a mascotte. There are several clips posted on RUclips.

Loeki de Leeuw (Loeki the Lion) were ultra short comedic stop-motion intermezzo's featuring a puppet lion between commercials on Dutch public television between 1972 and 2004. There were some (not many) commercial blocks on Dutch public television, and every now and then Loeki de Leeuw would have a 5 to 10 second appearance in between commercials. They always ended with Loeki saying 'Asjemenou!' in surprise. (Loosely translated 'well, have you ever!' or 'what the heck!')

    Jiskefet - Clown met Chauffeur.
I don’t know if there’s a translated version of it. Or if it will translate at all, but it’s in my opinion one of their best sketches. It’s basically portraying everything wrong with today’s attention economy, in a hilarious way. In my opinion of course.

You should really try to find some 'Van Kooten en de Bie' unfortunately not many available with English subtitles. They were the absolute top in television satire. For decades. So much so that they invented words that are staples in the Dutch language to this very day. Words and sayings like 'doemdenker' (doom-thinker), 'regelneef' (literally: arranging cousin, meaning someone who always manages to arrange something to the finest detail more often than not to the great annoyance of others), kneukfilm (a movie with sex and violence), 'mag ik even een teilje', 'op hun pik getrapt', and so many more

Think you must be Dutch to understand the humor. When they made it they used the lifestyle of 15 years earlier, generic Dutch office, wearing generic clothes, mannerisms of the 'proper' -conservative- middle class, boring lives -a time where the job you had was for the rest of your life-, a time where many Dutch people prepared bread at home and took it to their work (read: their wives prepared the bread) and threw half away in the bin as it was too dry, etc... And the one with' Sinterklaas', as recommended by others, was most memorable. Throwing bread away and working at such an office (probably also dated clothes) was also part of my life in Groningen from age 19 to 25.

Yeah it's a parody of a generic office. Every episode had the same routine. The guy on the left with his daily "i was waiting at the tram platform" joke, and then checking out what their wifes put on their bread, throwing the fruit away ("toedeledokie!") because supposedly it's lame to bring fruit or so. And then their boss (Storm) comes in, taking out a random binder with papers from the cabinet, telling exaggerated stories about when he was in the commandos. And miss Jannie bringing coffee, sometimes with strange cookies on the side. And Edgar often telling a story that leads nowhere, with an abrupt ending. And Jannie telling a story, but she's always completely ignored. That pretty much sums up every episode. And their laughs and accents are funny, ghe ghe ghe ghe, whenever someone laughs like that, everybody still immediately thinks of Jiskefet. The translated subtitles don't really do it justice, a lot of expressions with their over the top accents are difficult to translate. But you get the point. 🙂What a great show. And no, miss Jannie is not a guy haha. The actress is Annet Malherbe, if you want to look her up. Regarding Loeki de Leeuw (Loeki the Lion), he's a stuffed animal, in the Netherlands he is shown on the public broadcasters with short 5 second funny clips in between commercials. Just for fun, there's nothing commercial behind it or so. He has been there since the 70s. Just look for Loeki on youtube, you'll find a ton of examples. He was gone from tv for 20 years, but he was reintroduced a few years back so you can find newer clips as well.

Storm is a failed ex commando/green baret always bragging and exagerating and juffrouw Annie is too sweet to be taken seriously. It always starts pff with the same morning routine. 'Goede 's morgens. Edgar.' 'Ik stond daarnet bij de tramhalte.' The disposal of 'wat moeder de vrouw nou weer gemaakt heeft'. Juffrouw Jannie die koffie met iets lekkers komt brengen. A lot of it is playing with language. Laughing everything away. Keeping up the spirit. It's advanced simpelmindedness a la Monty Pyton.

Many of the jokes require some deeper understanding of Jiskefet - including clear (repeating) use of antihumor at the opening of the sketch (ridiculing bad comedy - with that poorly timed 'laughing machine' at the background.
Jiskefet were always masters of capturing very subtle societal phenomenons that are easily overlooked by comedians - to then create full-blown stereotypes of a previously missed group (in this case low-ambition people with irrelevant office jobs). They also master various regional Dutch accents (in this case Brabant southern dialect).

(Repeating joke is also that Edgar - first appearing character - is mentally incapable of even understanding the simplest jokes - so he's laughing but then repeating a sideline instead of the punchline. It's all much more subtle then it appears. Here they are just trolling bad comedy in general - as their hidden joke...)

You have to learn Dutch before you can really grasp most of the the absurdist Jiskefet humor. A lot of it is lost in translation.

Yeah no.. Jiskefet was a bad recommendation.. the humor does not translate at all. It's about how lame office life is, especially in the late 80's early 90's in the Netherlands.. at a time where memes did not exist and people had nothing but alcohol, cigarettes and vacations in Spain to keep themselves happy. Remember when Peter Griffin from family guy hurts his knees and sits there for way to long complaining about how it hurts by making noises? This is the comedy equivalent of it.. way too drawn out beyond becoming uncomfortable. Not my type of humor, I could never get into it.
Watch the entire playlist of all Rundfunk episodes in sequence instead if you want true modern day comedy!

The translation is atrocious, not doing the show any favours.

It is about the very boring office culture and the same lame jokes they make. Actually those people are living a very automated life and experience nothing besides that. The ceiling in this office is very low according to Dutch standards: our ceilings are almost always about 2 feet above the door, so much higher than in England or the USA for example. The same way our houses are build. This very low ceiling symbolizes the narrow mindedness of the work environment and the way of thinking as alike behaviour of the office personal living their so very boring lives, in that space.

It was a very mediocre performance. Not very funny either. For some inexplicable reason it was hugely popular though.
I never got more than a smirk out of this series.

this show is the parody of itself. Its at time crinchy. akword, funny, weird, socialy incorrect at some points. it is on a office where they do absolute nothing work related. The men are showing off to each other but in real life their a bunch of softy's
