So beautiful!
When the last album came out I was staring death in the face. I had been on medications and they hadn’t worked. The drs said they couldn’t do anything. I embraced that album, particularly Swimming With Crocodiles, as I embraced my leaving this world. The statement, “It’s the safest place to stay,” comforted me so much.
Years later and here comes Finn with just the right song as I am embracing my victory over death three times, and finally looking forward to the future.
I hope this band knows just how much they touch us and live in our souls.

I'm so moved by this song. Once again Finn has proven to be not of this world. The Veils are just incredible.
Just managed to hear this quite by chance. Something new to explore! Love this taste. Reminded me of ‘Jesus of the Moon.’
Well my first thought was: this is so different from the "Andalusia" version of last year's advent calendar; I wasn't even sure if it was the same song.
After that I thought about it all day, it stirred something deep inside me. I don't understand English perfectly so I cannot tell if this is exactly what this song is about, but here are my thoughts.
I remind the times when, as a kid, I could sit for hours looking out the window at the night sky; a "simple" time I would say. It makes you think about what was different then.
I don't know if it's exactly related to the title of the upcoming album, but I see a connection with the "void" mentioned. I see it now as our inner emptiness, the one that is insatiable, that we all carry, that we fill with a little bit of everything that seems relevant to us. This void much more vast than our daily life made up of small, incessant battles, power struggles, stress, and anxiety about all the problems that the world throws at us. Aren't we too blinded by all this? We lose sight wit hthe years of what is really essential for our happiness.
But also I don't see this void as a purely negative thing. More like a Pandora's box. It is also about the essential search for what gives meaning to our lives, in our own personal way. I see how much people around me can neglect this even though it seems vital in the end. I do not believe that we are born only to learn, to work, to live only within the mental constructs of our society. One by nature aspires to something much more absolute, more sublime. Of this we all have a part to play that is truly ourselves in our very unique way. We might be "great". The 'void' does not swallow everything, it can also give a lot.
We can feel completely dispossessed of our existence, alienated by our condition, and the only fact that we pause for a moment in front of the infinite, limitless sky can make us relativise a lot, make us reflect, and perhaps put us back on a more peaceful path. Correct the course, I mean. Our existence is short, truly as says the song, and we may not always do the right thing with it. I think that in this sense, from this "void" can come an infinite love, at least for a moment or perhaps for much longer if we cultivate these rare moments in symbiosis with the universe when a breach opens up, consciousness expands, space and time melt, peace invades us.
Things as simple as the infinity of the sky and more vastly the surronding nature that surrounds us have more truths to tell us than all our little fictions/fights of the day. There are many things worthwhile. Let's live them.
But maybe I'm missing the point.
Anyway, in short: bravo. Brilliant song. I can say that the way you write has greatly influenced my life.
How can a song break and heal your heart at the same time? Finn knows how.
