Toss up between kid a and in rainbows for favorite rh album. A few thoughts.. Not sure if u knew or not but this album was recorded using equipment from the 80s.. Music for purgatory is the best way I've heard treefingers described.. Idiotech was the best song I've ever seen played live of any concert anywhere.. Morning bell reminds me of divorce. "Clothes are on the lawn with the furniture" "release me" and "cut the kids in half" could be a metaphor for a custody battle.. Motion picture soundtrack reminds me literally of someone dying and moving on to wherever "I will see you in the next life." Brings tears to my eyes every time.. Can't wait for more rh reactions!! XO
If you want to show him how great Radiohead is just let him listen and watch In Rainbows from the basement seeing them pull off all those intricate songs live will make a believer out of most music fans. As an added bonus there are no copyright issues with the whole performance.
thom was inspired by “aphex twin” on this album, who’s first 2 albums were ambient electronic music, which is why they made tree fingers and untitled. great vid as per usual, looking forward to the in rainbows reaction 🌈❤️
i kinda think you guys nailed almost every song meaning, or some approaching skdjsdjsk, but actually songs like the first one have no actual meaning, literally thom just grabbed some random notes from a hat he putted them in before and made the lyrics (i hope what i said has any sense, i don't speak english x,d)
About the first track, not entirely true. The song as a whole is abstracted but some individual lines does have its origin and meaning. For instance, "Yesterday I woke up sucking a lemon". Sounds funny, Thom finds it funny himself, but he was referring to the tart face he made throughout his depression OK Computer phase. (Thom's quote, paraphrased)
