Another great tutorial Geoff and fortuitous for me as I want to build a small bridge support for my upcoming project! It was good to see pictures of the viaduct in Durham too as I have many happy memories of sitting in the park above the station watching the trains go by back in the 80s! Ian.
Welcome back, glad everything is working out for you, exciting times ahead with the new layout looking forward to seeing it gradually coming together, regards.
Great set up really enjoyed catching up on your uploads, great stuff and well explained, my eyes can just make out "00" perhaps if i had started 30 years ago i may have done n gauge 👍
Hi Geoff, great work mate, really like the use of the slaters brick, it makes a change from using brick papers and you have got some lovely effects with it. Looking forward to the next episodes, cheers John
Cheers John. I really like the Plasticard it makes it much easier when using wet material such as ballasting and it’s much easier to keep clean and dust free. All the best, Geoff
Thanks for this update. Great result on the retaining walls. I grew up near Bishop Auckland and used to walk along Newton Cap Viaduct before they built a road on top of it! I manage to avoid the white marks on card models by covering in gloss varnish first. I think the base is absorbed into the raw card and leaves the white matting agent behind.
Sounds like you grew up near where I did, I spent many a hour on that viaduct on my bike. Good memories! That’s good to know, I use a Matt artist acrylic now on card models, it’s not cheap but works well. Cheers Geoff
Great job done on that...I have some to do at some point and had to watch a channel to get the Cotswold stone effect too. You smashed that, thanks for sharing, Chris

Interesting to know what was used to glue plasticard to card, also with everything glued to one side do you have any problems with distortion
