it really depends on the craftsman. thats a vague answer for you.
machine-made will be overall very uniform. which is a great thing.
on the other hand, handmade could definitely be better. but thats all up to the craftsman and how much time they can allocate towards each project. if they are in an environment where they can work on perfection, their pieces would come out better than machine-made. but this is hardly the case. usually, they are just trying to go through as many pieces as they can to meet deadlines.
i currently have a machine-made 6mm cuban bracelet. quality is great. only thing that i can nitpick is one of the box lock clasps is on the looser side. its something that i can address so its not too big a deal. but everything else is top notch. it hangs straight when i hold it up. links are tight. all checks out. everything is very uniform.
ive seen handmade chains (daniel jewelry inc) that hang at quite a large curve. ive seen machine-made hang with a bit of curve too. it can be quite random, even in the case of machine-made. its hit or miss. but i would say that you can be more confident in machine-made because it will be much more consistent than manmade.
