Here is episode 4 of what everyone is wearing in New York. Look at this as your New York guide on what to wear in New York and of current street style 2019. This is not about the latest outfits in New York, this is not about New York fashion week, this is about real people's individual style and finding your style but still seeing fashion trends worth trying in 2019. You'll get ideas on how to dress casual, how to dress smartly and how to dress on a budget and also how to make cheap clothes look expensive.
If traveling to New York this may help you on how not to look like a tourist! I hope you enjoy episode three of New York street wear.

I love the fashion diversity in NY. You can wear anything and no one is going to look at you like you're strange.
exactly and age wasn't even a thing in terms of style and being individually stylish!
I wish that was the case where I live 😂 I also love that Karen captures the different styles. She has her own but still appreciation and love for other people's fashion
@@hereisajakualin4344 I know, I live in Colorado and the style and fashion is so boring.
I live in the second largest city in south germany. And the conformity is soporific. I'm sure Karen wouldn't stop me on the street but here I get starred at for wearing colourful socks. I'm also a mum, but like short skirts (bum covered though ✌) ...so can you imagine? Once two old guys had a go at me on the tube for wearing teared up jeans (they ripped on the knee and thigh at work but I still wore them cause they looked cool) oh my god so scandalous 😲😲😲 same where you live?😂 thank God we have Karen ❤
I am from Brooklyn but I have lived in Alaska, Hawaii and now Washington state. No matter what, I dress the way I did in NYC. I get looks sure but who cares. They always try to make me conform but I won't lose myself to fit in again. My friend's call me extra and I always reply, have we met? According to their standards, I'm extra....according to NYC standards its just Friday.
Before leaving the house I like to ask myself "would Karen stop me on the street?"
Just be unique and she'll stop u
OMG was literally thinking that...need to step up my game.
🤣 me from now on
Not me!
Me too!! And the I practice in the mirror what my spiel would be in regards to what I am wearing. Lol.
Karen complimenting people in New York: "I love that dress!"
People in New York: "I know, right?"
I'd be so happy if someone complimented me like that I wouldn't know what to say😂
Maia Barone say thanks
ixamthestranger they don’t know how to say thanks
This is very different from the female characters on HBO Girls. All these women should have been in Lena Dunham's TV show. I love her, like my own sister, but seriously Lena . WTF ???
Maia. You could say "Thank You, I love what you're wearing too".
I love how she goes around town an hypes everyone up!!!
That's just for the camera. Otherwise it would be pretty vanilla.
That woman who re-tailors clothes is flipping fabulous!!!!!
Yeah she is so cool! 😍
Yes she's got flippin skills😎
Awesome
Please,write her Instagram!
why was her handle not visual?
i love how everyone knows they look hella cute
Amazed at the girl who cut apart thrifted clothes and made custom pieces for herself. What a cool talent.
Yeah, pretty inspiring :)
It is not a talent, this is something you can learn in a month
"These are just from France" ok rich lady
lmaooo and the cartier band. i just knew she was rich
@@VanessaAttah "they're real pearls" lotsa rich ladies walking around, lol.
I have said it before, but I will say it again: Karen I believe among your many fashion talents is a talent for film-making and the visual art of film, because your videos capture things that are pure cinema - like the shot from subway stairs up into the light with almost silhouettes of people passing slow motion. I feel like I have just had an afternoon in New York. Wow.
You never feel like you overdress in NY. That's how I love NY!
You think so the two times i was in new york dressing some what outlandish i got a lot of people looking at me oddly and an insult
Maybe it’s cause I’ve always lived in nyc, but I still feel insecure about dressing more boldly here
Mahiyat Alam I’ve been in NYC 6 years and I feel weird dressing boldly, but I want to dress more like a NYer so this summer I will step up my fashion game.
@@Aisha_Davis yeah I agree, I want to get out of my comfort zone with fashion too
Well not exactly, people from NY can tell you're not from there so you always have to be careful going to the wrong places😅👍🏻.
I cannot express to you how refreshing it is as someone who doesn't live in NYC to see videos like this to draw inspiration from. I don't feel the city I live in is known for their style and people dress quite safe and conservative, so it's nice to see people on the other side of the world being bold, yet simple, sustainable and just owning their identity. Thank you Karen!
Liz Yeah exact same here
Same. I feel like I was born in the wrong state
I feel like I just traveled to Manhattan today. A beautiful sunny day. And met tons of interesting people. So inspiring!
Heidi J this is why I watch these lol!!
Heidi J- Absolutely! Very unlikely I'll ever get to NYC, but Karen makes me feel like an insider! And watching her for years has helped me find my own style and being an old woman has finally made me not care what anyone thinks...Hooray!!
Did she do an episode in Tribeca ?
I know right..
I honestly don't understand what the woman is talking about that "LA is more ahead of fashion than NYC" NYC is one of the fashion capitals and way ahead of LA in my opinion.
She said she finds it easier to find trendy pieces in LA, which is true. NYC vintage shopping is more unique in my opinion and less trend oriented.
Totally agree. I've been to both cities and I noticed LA was most definitely fashionable but much more "trendy" whereas New York's fashion scene was much more unique and timeless
That girl who made her own outfit, is amazing. Love her outfit.
karend169 she looks like scarlett johanson
@@suides4810 It does. I have to say, I think they were popular in the 70's. I loved it.
What’s her insta?
@@unknowntrash167 valeriaxelvira
I recognized her from another video in winter she made cut her coat too and customized her bag
what i love most about these videos is the fact that a lot of the outfits you spotlight aren't what you'd necessarily call high-fashion or "exclusive", but just people who are wearing interesting things that are visually appealing and personal to their tastes. sometimes it can feel disheartening when i see someone super gorgeous piling on a bunch of brands together and calling it fashion, because it feels like there's a sort of barrier of entry that someone like me with not a lot of money isn't able to move past. but your videos make fashion feel accessible and fun! thank you.
This video honestly brought me to tears. I wish every city was this creative and confident in personal style. I'm definitely inspired!
Bella yeah! Wearing what everyone else is wearing trying to fit in is so boring and uncreative! I feel like i've been doing that all my life.
Bella That's right, my love! Let's be bolder!
Ieman Gillians I live in nyc and went to virgina for a weekend and it really is a cultural change lmao
Genèvieve Puglissi Oh wow! Which do you prefer??
okay, you did NOT cry let's not be overdramatic here...
I've stopped wishing for Karen to have her own show... I'm just gonna manifest it into existence #Netflix #Hulu #Amazon #karenbritchick
Yesss . . . On point !!
YOU with the manifestation...yasssssss!!!!
It may lose its essence
myaleeza A spot on Wendy Williams for starters
@@sarayan.3467 I''ll bet a small wager that she would shut anything down that would change what brings her joy, which is doing exactly what she does for youtube. I know some youtubers haven't made a great transition from youtube to other media. Karen has maturity, vision and wisdom on her side
Seriously can’t get enough of this series I’m OBSESSED!!!!
same!
This has reminded me why I love street style. I love when people dress for themselves and I love it when other people appreciate that!
How many of you hit pause and run to your closet and start putting stuff together in new ways? Love you Karen, great seeing the world from your perspective!
Doesn’t this series feels like we are back in the days Karen? Remember 2008-2013 when style/fashion blogging was so riveting! I love that you are staying with your aesthetics and thank you for keeping the fire burning! I feel like pioneers Susie Bubble, Bryan Boy, The Sartorialist, Garance Dore and the list goes on...kinda lay low a little bit. But you stayed. Starting to see everybody getting active again. See them often in instagram. Karen please please make a book of visuals! I’m not sure if you have one that you authored but I will definitely buy your book of Where Did You Get That
Yes totally agree
seaofshoes is more active on ig:) love her also!
I love how you pick all ages and sizes. They all have unique styles and look fantastic!!
Just bought that fabulous croc bag from the french woman you ran into. It's the bag I've been looking for for ages. I haven't been able to find The One and suddenly, there it was! The two of you didn't even speak the same language yet were able to connect through a common passion. Pure art
aimee just bought one too! paused the video, clicked the link and purchased asap! when you know you know!
being born and raised in new york i kind of take advantage of the fact that this is all around me always. its nice to look at people's style and fashion from someone else's objective eye.
This series helps me turn my eyes to my own style and examine my message to the world. Instead of buying buying buying, I'm curating my style's identity and getting inspired by the people of one of my favorite cities. I ❤️ NYC.
Mini Wolfang I just love the way you phrased this comment “examine my message to the world”... “curating my styles identity” ❤️
Iamjavonne yup
Mini Wolfang same
I love that you don't go for the obvious. Such a mix and appreciation of individual styles. You make people smile.
Getting secretly filmed by KarenBritChic = fashion/style goals.
People who are slaves to fashion trends have no true identity, they are ants walking in line, love seeing people wear what they feel ❤️❤️❤️
Everything here, the video, the talk is like it’s from Mars to me! In Sydney I never hear people talk about clothes or what they’re wearing. I couldn’t tell you what my friends wear or what style they are. I don’t even know what I’m wearing atm. I just add a scarve, a jumper if I get cold! And I love this ! Ie, there’s more important things than clothes to talk and think about! No one here really must spend $$ on clothes. Sydneysiders put their $$ into their homes, creating creative environments, or entertaining, and even that doesn’t matter, no one cares how u spend ur $$, or if you even make much or less. When the clothes get dirty doing this they get washed snd no one cares what they put back on! I love that about here! I think they only care if it fits. One less thing to think about, so we can get on with what’s more important : work, friends , family , physical and mental health, eating and exercise, and fun! And balance! All we care about here is a good conversation! And unfortunately we spend a lot of time on stopping , avoiding, getting past that 2% of people who make trouble for us and that part of the environment and just life that does the same. But we’re basically happy and not thinking about clothes
this made me cry people are so friendly I wanna move to new york
It’s nice seeing people describe what they’re wearing! They kind of light up
The girl who revamps her clothes into something new spoke to my soul because I do the exact same ❤️
Chelsea Sheets....so much sunshine. The best of the entire video.
I love these series! Everytime i watch one of these i feel as if my style is so boring! haha This is inspiring me to be more adventurous.
😂😂😂😂🙄🙄🙄
I love that style is so individual no matter size, shape, or ethnicity.
Some of these people's personalities really shine through their striking clothing🌹.
The amount of fashion in NY is ...... INTENSE!
This is what separates NYC from everywhere in the world ... it’s unique style ...a feast for the eyes . Everyone is allowed to be themselves with no judgement, Love it!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
ixamxmsright i wouldn’t say it’s different from ‘everywhere in the world’ but they certainly have their own thing going on
I love that you are so inclusive. That is one of the reasons why I started following you. Thank you.
the girl at 23:13 (Difie!) was just so beautiful! I couldn't take my eyes off of her, I mean anyone who can wear a headscarf and a long dress like that makes me so jealous! Really simple and elegant look! 😍
Hola Karen! The woman in white with the bagvfrom Colombia 🇨🇴 it’s called a Molchila and it’s made by indigenous women of the Wayuu tribe on the eastern coast of the Guajira region of Colombia. I support these women and the artesanía of my country. I’m so glad you featured and appreciate their handiwork. 🇨🇴😘🤗saludos from Medellin - Catalina
I’m a photographer, and I absolutely love to people watch. You’re videos are so fabulous and I love watching them because of your interviews about the fashion you see. So great!
I people watch all the time. I imagine their lives, admire their clothes, makeup, etc. It's one of the best hobbies. I love your videos. God Bless.
it's so refreshing to hear your positivity, walking around our city and making everyone feel creative and beautiful!
I love the style of NYC. The lady in the white dress with the dog was one of my favorites. Who doesn't love a dress with pockets?
I don’t understand why you don’t have a million subs already...... brilliant as usual 🤩
. . . riiight?! 'Must' be the creature/monster that 'is' RUclips as it makes zero sense.
I really loved that pretty girl that tailored her clothes to her slim size. She is so adorable and attractive. Thank you for sharing.
I love how it so clearly makes people’s day
I’m from Atlanta and I never got stopped or complimented when I went out only stares. It wasn’t until I went to San Antonio and NY last summer that I was constantly being complimented and stopped. I guess people are very to themselves in ATL
I get a lot of compliments on the street here in Atlanta, much more so than when I lived in NYC. It's prob just coincidence or personal style being more appreciated in different places. Who knows?!
I live in Atl n I have people all the time ask me where I get clothing from. I make most of my own clothing n have a very different style from everyone. I also starting to see all kinds of different fashion styles on the streets here. I guess more people are moving here from all over
I could never get enough of these videos. They inspire me so much. Some people are just naturally creative. I love imagining what these people's lives are like by looking at all their different styles. This brings me such joy.
I really like how your personality puts people at ease so not only are the clothes amazing but they are an extension of the lovely people...
I lived in the East Village in the 1970s and it was SO much fun! We dressed up every day! It was not just punk it was just about everything you could think of. When I watch these episodes I am taken right back to those days and remember a lot of the reasons I hated and loved New York. Thank you so much and DO keep up the great work. Thank you, Karen!
Karen... It is actually getting ready to snow up here in Northern Norway, so this (your channel) is my new go-to happy place to imagine that there is still a fleck of sunshine at least someplace in the world! Your little Street interviews are incredibly delightful‼️🤗
I love the cowboy hat and his jewelry!❤️
I love people’s Instagram handles; they’re so interesting. That Issey Miyake jumper was everything.
Omg. The lady walking her dog with the 1940’s vibe, yellow dress, black heels, and great hat! also slouchy bag 🤩
People in nyc will still look at you weird but people in nyc don’t care and wear what they love and that’s what makes it so special.
Karen, your style documentaries are fantastic! To me they are award-winning. Thank you for the virtual trips to New York. Perhaps I'll get to visit there one day. Thank you for what you do. ;-)
I just love how you're always so excited about clothes! When you say..."It's so good!" I know exactly what you mean...Like, My God! How gorgeous! Lol! Love this show!
Oh my gosh Bandits on The Run! Never heard of them but just listened to a bunch of their songs...in love now
I love how a lot of ppl mentioned their outfits being comfortable and easy to wear... Ha! Comfortable🙌🏾
i love how everyone wants to show how spry they are in their clothes. doing a twerk or a random kick lol . this was so much awesomeness i didnt know i needed
I just love how well you connect with complete strangers, Karen! You are a total fashion journalist. You remind me of this Canadian fashion show from my childhood, FashionTelevision. It was mostly focused on runways, but it had the same charm that your series has.
HEYYYYYYY Karen BritChick!! I love, love, love your street style videos. Please keep them coming.
1. My favorite style was the the lady with the blond-ish hair, the white oversized
dress, the small black & black aztec woven bag & the rose quartz necklace. Her WHOLE look was GOOD.
2. Then the lady (You snapped her from a distance) with the all black outfit-- with the short grey hair cut--- she was effortlessly very stylish.
3. And last, but; not least --- the young lady that alters/re-do pieces to fit her body---her style was too cute
Much love Chrissandra
People watching is my absolute favorite. It’s something that’s free and you can do it absolutely anywhere in the world!
I'm obsessed now with that Sleeper brand.
Loving the confidence and optimism of New Yorkers
The table near the window is always mine - adore to watch people walking by the streets. It's my eternal inspiration. The style mixology and layering is the best in here.
That girl that made her own clothes! Wow!

this series is amazing. you're so personable and kind! can't wait to see a the fall looks next month!
I love this because I feel educated and never guilty or like I am wasting time when I watch your street style series. It is about people not just fashion.
Literally binge watching this series from episode 1. It's great to see all the different styles and people especially now that most of us are still staying home majority of the time.
Such a fresh take on fashion which is so individualized. People are incredibly friendly and excited to share!
I love these videos! I’m a people watcher ! It’s like me walking threw New York! I love the individuality of New York street style!
Love this fashion series! I also love to people-watch, I've have been doing it since I was a teenager! When I find a very interesting look on someone passing by, I often wonder what kind of Life they lead.
Yes people watching is a fabulous thing to do. I find that I do it in NYC and LA more often than any other place but I did do it while I was in Italy. You see the most interesting and spectacular people when you just stop and take everything in.
I love love LOVE these videos! I like how Karen doesn't only shoot people who dress like her, she really gives us a look into many different styles and subcultures. Always new and interesting people.
cant wait for a version of this when the weather gets colder! love them so much
I love how care free you are. Relaxed and approachable. Also, your background music in between street shots!
Love New York Street fashion. My favorites... gentlemen with yellow socks on bike, Young man with yellow hoodie smoothly walking the streets, and both ladies in White dresses that Karen spoke with.
Massive smile of my face throughout this video. So inspiring!
This series is amazing! Thank you Karen!
So in answer to your viewer question Karen.... yes, yes, yes, I am 100% a people watcher and since a child I was always so fascinated with watching people. That also fueled my passion for the appreciation of each individual & their unique personal sense of style!!! 💟💜💟
I live in Chicago and last year had the pleasure . of visting NYC and I literally stood outside starring at people some of the best fashion ever .
Thanks Karen....keep bringing a view of the street styles
Yeees, I feel like it's Christmas 😁 So happy ☺️
Didn’t want this to end! 😊
Brittney K01 I know right ⁉️
So glad I found you.Love love love the way how you show that people can create their personal style through inspiration from things around them thereby showcasing their unique selves.I’m watching and sharing.
The lady in the cream Zara dress, Chloe slippers, h&m scarf, and tan bag....perfection 😍
I already wanted to move to NYC, watching this makes the feeling so much stronger!
I love these videos. Seeing people be creative with there everyday attire is inspiring. Like walking pieces of art.
As someone currently stuck in a small town where the clothes inspo is very, very slim, I am eternally grateful for these videos.
I love watching some of these designer pieces. Like the Issey Miyake Jumpsuit. So easy to make and i could imagine it in a longer leg and made of burgundy crushed velvet. With a shawl for that lovely stevie nicks vibe i love.
Omg Karen I am just so addicted of watching this (street styles/interview). Giving me good vibes everytime. And so much tips and inspirational ideas.
Your content in street wear continuously aid in my move to New York goals. Just Love it all. I love the black asymmetrical romper❤️❤️❤️
i watched this over the course of a week. what strikes me most is your generosity of spirit, even to people i would consider 'pretentious'. you have a great eye! :)
I just love the ingenuity of New Yorkers.
I loved these videos. Stopped another video to come here!
same
I love these episodes, you're great at this btw.
I always love these! I bought that brown croc bag myself! And I always smile when I see your friend pop up in these videos. I also loved how people mixed thrifted outfits with designer. Loewe bag, Chloe slides, Gucci sneakers....
Bought the JW Pei bag in black. In love with it ❤️
