I also think they should’ve given a made to move doll and make different skin tones and hair colors so you don’t get the same Barbie every year and can choose. That would make it worth the 30-40 dollar price range. ALSO random note but Mattel should make more BTS doll clothes and accessories or even an advent calendar surprise.
I got the other (pink-themed) advent calendar they have this year, and it's definitely more decent than the Dreamtopia one. I totally agree that the Dreamtopia line is super tacky, it's nothing like the older barbie fairy lines such as Fairytopia that was absolutely beautiful and magical.

Parents could pick a basic doll that they know the child would like and choose accessory packs to fill up the days. That would allow for some special additions if someone in the family sews or is extra crafty, too. You don't have to fill all the pockets with plastic stuff.

I wish they would make this Barbie advent calendar actually christmas themed.. you know with a little barbie christmas tree in number 24, christmas themed clothes and accessories.. pets with little christmas hats..maybe even something like a santa outfit for barbie herself. i think that would be actually pretty awesome..
The cake, teapot and teacups may be yet more plastic, but I have to admit I was excited to see them (the cake in particular) and I would’ve been delighted with them as a child-I had a strange fascination with any tiny food things for the play kitchens...And I still do to a certain extent. That cake really does take me back though; I had a take-apart layered cake that came with a Disney Princess doll (Aurora, I think) and that was one of my most prized doll-related possessions. I’m sure it’s still around here somewhere!
Just saw the last year's advent calendar unboxing and this year is a massive downgrade. Last year had way more clothes and nicer stuff. This year feels like a dollarstore item. Also funny how that line is called "Dreamtopia". Mattel totally missed the mark when it comes to dreams, since dreams are normally weird and fun.
Thank you for this review. I'd already decided against this Advent item. However, due to your positive words, I've ordered last year's Advent calendar for Barbie and I'm eagerly awaiting it to arrive!
Hi Joey I watched the 2019 barbie advent calendar beautiful hope you had fun at Disney Paris and I hope you and your brother Luca had a great birthday 🎈🎂
"...i will try to be as positive as i could : downgrade, tacky fashion, terrible quality !!..." OMFG u made me so laugh because it's true even if i like dreamtopia. anyway the first thing i thought was weird, the way the surprises are put in the box aren,'t very clever. they should had start with the doll and then whit a skirt at least. Any way great vid as alway !
Thank you so much!! I was wondering if it's worth it, but we have those barbies already, so...no. Indeed quality wise where are the 90's!! Btw you are so funny!!! Make me laugh every time with your comments!! So much talent that you have!!!
I just started but that intro is such a mood. Onto serious stuff. I wonder if the sharp drop in quality this year is because of covid. Also I was expectting there to be a chelsea doll at the end when i saw the tiny wings.
dang, last year's advent calendar was acttually quite cool, such a shame the quality dropped like that, for me the best of this line were the 2017 and 2018, they look so cool, and come with so much clothes and nice acessories
I did originally want this advent calendar but I’m glad I passed it up now, I hope next years advent calendar is a lot better. I want a calendar with lots of good fashions and some exclusive items
If I was a kid I would be soo disappointed with this. As an adult collector im mortified. For that amount of money you could go buy a cheap barbie at the stores, and make your own version. 70% of the items in this calendar sell on ali exp for a few dollars (shoes and necklaces).. which only means one thing..big profits for mattel. Time to engage our own creativity i think. Good review Joey..love love love your sarcasm 🤣
I think painted on tops can be good because there are parents that don't like their kids to have naked Barbies. My aunt and friend's mom for example only bought their kids painted on tops when there was a fair mix of painted and fabric tops because they hated the ability for the doll to be nude. I think that Barbies should have a painted tube top and underwear to avoid the nude Barbies but also that Mattel should not use painted on tops as a go-to. They should give us clothes completely made of fabric with better quality. ( Also they need to give us back the articulation, at least the snappy knees.)
For Christmas, I want the Fresh Squad :P Articulated male dolls! :O Here, I agree with your choice for best necklace! And the mermaid tail was cool, too. Other than that, I would be underwhelmed if this was a gift, too xD Hopefully, next year's is better! :D
Even though this is a flop, I've heard Mattel and the Barbie line is doing a lot better this year (probably because of quarantine and kids being stuck inside), so let's hope that maybe that with push Mattel to boost their quality next year. I totally agree with the molded/painted on tops. The ONLY time I've looked at a doll with painted on clothes and said, "Yeah, that's okay," are the super budget dolls with the painted on swimsuits, and with those ones the suit is just painted with no texture, so kids can put clothes over it, and since the swimsuit is painted on, you can't lose it. I used to be so upset when I would lose the only doll swimsuit I had. Wait, did you ever figure out what the smaller wings go to? The only thing I can guess is maybe the rabbit?
I kind of feel like Mattel is just saying they’re doing great with sells with no actual evidence to prove it. Like what have they released this year that’s rivaled MGAs dominance in doll releases alone.
Nice unboxing !🤣 your reactions are so sincere as I would have 🤣🎀💟 I agree.... I was think to buy it for my girl maybe she is going to choose Trolls 2 then lol

Can you have any more pets in there? They should rename their brand Petbie. Edit: You know I made this comment before you revealed the 4th pet! I'm crying.
Would Covid maybe have something to do with this years calendar prices being crap? Like people are buying less toys since a lot of people have struggled with employment. Or the amount of factory workers etc?
I'm sorry but I laughed through the whole video but only because of your very funny reactions 😂! That said I very much enjoyed this video and I am super disappointed that you were so disappointed at Mattel's on going decline in Barbie's quality and I see that you are a loyal consumer and certainly deserve better! the set is kinda pretty, but i think they should've added more detail to the accessories and clothes. the shoes are just one color, and the clothes are only of some pattern without any other details.
I don’t know if you like the lol surprise tots but they do have 3 different advent calendars full of tot sized clothes and accessories for 30 dollars on amazon. If you’re looking for a nicer advent calendar I’d pick one of them.
Oh my god, it reminds me of these awful fake lol surprise balls (you should open one of these btw), where they put random trash from different doll lines
I agree that they could put more effort on this bc the idea is so cool! It looks cheap for sure but i think it is so much fun to play with! The top are made of plastic so you can play in water or outside and don't care about to lose or damage clothes.
That makes sense! But I feel like Barbie uses that as an excuse to be cheap on almost every barbie. Not every barbie needs to have a plastic suit. They may even make a certain percentage plastic suits, so parents and children will eventually get fed up and go buy one of the barbies without plastic. (And not any other doll because then the clothing and accessories wont fit) So yeah it would make sense for some kind of water themed barbie to have a painted on suit, but not obnoxiously done on a large amount of barbies like this one.
@@whitneymiller3809 I understand you! I think they might have these plastic tops and painted underwear so kids can’t undress a doll, some parents find nude bodies inappropriate for their children. So, yeah, but it’s not that fun for sure.
@@whitneymiller3809 it would be cool to see a cute underwear that you can change and buy for sure. But i think it was much easier to paint it so children won't lose it, ripped it off and etc. But for me, of course, much better to see an underwear as clothes.
My daughter has this advent calendar and she’s just waiting for the rabbit now. You are right kids love the pets 😂 I’m pretty disappointed with the rest to be honest 😴
Wow...Definitely not a great calendar. :/ I am super excited for Christmas though! I’d really love to get the holiday Ariel from Disney Store, but I honestly don’t expect it because everybody is tighter on money this year.
When I don't have an Advent Calendar it's not Christmas...
🔔🎅🧤☕🔥☺🤶🎄🎶🐈📻
My heart sank when I saw it was dreamtopia lmao
Hi Joey I watched the 2019 barbie advent calendar beautiful hope you had fun at Disney Paris and I hope you and your brother Luca had a great birthday 🎈🎂
Such a funny feeling. I loved the video with commentary but absolutely hated the calendar and how they structured and chose the surprises. Thanks!
You remind me of my favorite baby cousin -- 25 years ago. XD I know I'm old now, because he just turned 50.
"...i will try to be as positive as i could : downgrade, tacky fashion, terrible quality !!..."
OMFG u made me so laugh because it's true even if i like dreamtopia. anyway the first thing i thought was weird, the way the surprises are put in the box aren,'t very clever. they should had start with the doll and then whit a skirt at least. Any way great vid as alway !
Love your videos, you always have me laughing out loud! ❤️
I think maybe the small wings are a bracelet for Barbie? That's the only thing that makes sense for the size of the clip on it.
I think the mini wings fit the bunny 🐰
Thank you so much!! I was wondering if it's worth it, but we have those barbies already, so...no. Indeed quality wise where are the 90's!! Btw you are so funny!!! Make me laugh every time with your comments!! So much talent that you have!!!
I just started but that intro is such a mood.
Onto serious stuff. I wonder if the sharp drop in quality this year is because of covid. Also I was expectting there to be a chelsea doll at the end when i saw the tiny wings.
I looked it up and I found out what the wing were for the bunny!
I can't say it enough: so glad i grew up in the 80/90s!!
dang, last year's advent calendar was acttually quite cool, such a shame the quality dropped like that, for me the best of this line were the 2017 and 2018, they look so cool, and come with so much clothes and nice acessories
I did originally want this advent calendar but I’m glad I passed it up now, I hope next years advent calendar is a lot better. I want a calendar with lots of good fashions and some exclusive items
In the Philippines our Christmas season start September and ends in first week of February. Is true
I love both calendars
Here, I agree with your choice for best necklace! And the mermaid tail was cool, too. Other than that, I would be underwhelmed if this was a gift, too xD
Hopefully, next year's is better!
Love your channel so much bro 😎🖤💖🥰✌
Thank you ❤️
@@BeautyInsideABox your welcome your the best doll collector 🖤🥰
When are you going to do the Barbie movie dolls video?
As usual mattel showed an amazing understanding of how to trick small children into buying their cheaply made toys
Jesus that's such a dip in quality.
I love how as soon i watched this a barbie add came on XD
Really appreciate the honest feedback, was going out to purchase this tomorrow for miss 9. I'll be looking for something more fun and value packed. Merry Christmas from Australia 😷🐨
In my opinion the best part of this calendar is the tea service and maybe a little dragon. But other things are.. Mehhh..
The tea cups and mermaid tail is by far the best
Can you have any more pets in there? They should rename their brand Petbie. Edit: You know I made this comment before you revealed the 4th pet! I'm crying.
Would Covid maybe have something to do with this years calendar prices being crap? Like people are buying less toys since a lot of people have struggled with employment. Or the amount of factory workers etc?
Barbie is pretty
Bad at quality control...but hopefully they fix it and provide removable fashions
Try the wing as barbies bracelet on her arm
I think I know what the weird tiny wings are for! I think they are actually a butterfly that you can put on Barbie’s wrist like it landed on her
I'm sorry but I laughed through the whole video but only because of your very funny reactions 😂! That said I very much enjoyed this video and I am super disappointed that you were so disappointed at Mattel's on going decline in Barbie's quality and I see that you are a loyal consumer and certainly deserve better! I hope you read this comment, so I was thinking what if you did a DIY and create something for each of those days that you would have wanted to open and see and share?! Anyway Ty for the video and for sharing 😉👍⭐
Oh nooooooo!!! I was really looking forward to the barbie advent calendar but this looks awful! Ugh. I’m so disappointed! Do you have any alternative advent calendar suggestions???
I was laughing all over the video. Mattel is always Mattel😹
It's sad that this quality is so horrible and I'm glad your honest about this and mattel needs to up the quality. They even lost the quality in the holiday barbies but I still collect them bc imma collector of the holiday barbies. I'll stick with mga tyvm
the set is kinda pretty, but i think they should've added more detail to the accessories and clothes. the shoes are just one color, and the clothes are only of some pattern without any other details.
I don’t know if you like the lol surprise tots but they do have 3 different advent calendars full of tot sized clothes and accessories for 30 dollars on amazon. If you’re looking for a nicer advent calendar I’d pick one of them.
I think my favorite gift was the teapot lol 😂
Plastic tat 🤣🤣 you’re amazing x
(And not any other doll because then the clothing and accessories wont fit)
So yeah it would make sense for some kind of water themed barbie to have a painted on suit, but not obnoxiously done on a large amount of barbies like this one.
@@whitneymiller3809 I understand you! I think they might have these plastic tops and painted underwear so kids can’t undress a doll, some parents find nude bodies inappropriate for their children. So, yeah, but it’s not that fun for sure.
@@AnnaGreenMoon Then they should just have underwear painted. Not painted with weird bumps, and patterns.
@@whitneymiller3809 I agree with but the choose the easy way to get that.
Oh, or the Rapunzel and Eugene set with her short brown hair. I have wanted a doll with her brown hair since I saw the one they released for the wedding short and kicked myself for not getting it when I saw it (as I never saw it again). I’d also be okay with the new Alice classic doll though. :)
Pretty sure the tiny wings are a ring for you to wear.
New subscriber. Nice video
What is here included is really a shame! Thank you for showing this 🤐🤐 🤐😤🤐🤬🤬🤐🤐🤐 - calendar. I know why I love your videos so much! and I am so grateful to see your videos! all the best from vienna / austria
If I had to pick which days get what I'd make the first week have clothing since for almost a full week she is sorta naked. The next would be getting the bunny and dog with the pillow for playtime. The food and tea set would be should be back to back and on Christmas day I'd put the horse.
When I was younger and we got molded on pieces (I'm 19 now) I used to slide on clothes over the molded parts
Thanks for the review ! So disappointed with this one . Why have an advent calendar That’s not Christmas 🎄 related ?!! I’m totally not getting this one. I’m gonna have to hunt for the Christmas one from last year !
When I was little I never appreciated the molded on shirts and stuff I always hated it and I really didn't want to play with those Barbies.
I’ll definitely get last years Barbie advent calendar. Luckily it’s still available here in norway.
Your intro was the mirror of my heart.
Im making an advent calendar for my friends Who collect Dolls and my DIY calendar is surprisingly better than this one - maybe because It was made with love and thought but anyway).
Good things of the doll: 4%
Bad things of the doll: 96%
adore ur videos so much 💕 love from russia
So honest review 👍👍❤️❤️
