Just becareful to NOT upload your island to the dream address. I understand you want people to see what you did to your island with the modded items but you know how Nintendo is strict about that. Think about to the Star Tree Controversy when disgruntled people reported the islands as "cheating". They can do that so just beware that anything can get you banned if you choose to mod your switch while still using the Online service.

It’d be nice if Nintendo made an official modding platform for Acnh that allowed people to download mods officially. It’d make it much easier to mod and people would stop banning each other. They’ve done it with Minecraft and it’s really taken off. Best thing is that they’d never have to drop an update again (even though they won’t anyway) because players will be self sufficient.

I think having a little area to make 3D objects in (able to be priced 0-25,000). it wouldnt be preset 3d models you paint on like dresses and all that and it'd probably have to get verified first and then upload a day after you posted it if it follows nintendos rules (eg. no innapropriate content).
the sizes would be 0.5x0.5-4x4, providing 50 slots. there'd be 10 extra slots that can be sizes 4.5x4.5-6x6

i kinda wish they’d make a feature for community contributions. like custom packs / furnitures that you could import Via the online service or smth. or where you could make custom furniture by making it with a “3d model software” made specifically for animal crossing. // to make sure no assets are stolen from other games etc, they’d have one for animal crossing *specifically*.
this is like 100% too much anyone could ask for but would be kinda cool ngl. still, wishful thinking but man. the stuff the community could create with that.

I've noticed a difference in modding trends between games. Acnl was more plants on rocks and public works projects on beaches+furniture outside when it came to mods, where as new horizons lacks so many plant items the modding community basically said "fine I'll do it myself" and added amazing furniture. Even with 2.0 adding additional items (most still being one item with up to 8 recolors) I never felt like there was enough item diversity in new horizons so I'm glad the modders are showing off their creative item sets.

I have an idea. What if nintendo made an option in the next game where you can make your own furniture? Like with custom designs but furniture. You could choose a chair from the game and give it new paint or new fabric, or even give it a complete makeover. There should definetely be more plants, i agree.
And being able to establish an entire ecosystem in a pond? Theres nothing i want more. I want to let my ponds and rivers quite literally blossom with different kinds of lilypads, shrubs, mangroves, and bugs too. It would be so awesome if they added more wildlife in the next game, since it is based around nature.
Animal crossing helped me learn a lot about some bugs and fish that i wouldnt have known anything about if it wasnt for that game, so if they could help spread awareness on some more endangered species (like minecraft did), that would probably bring a lot more attention to them. Theres a lot of things that Nintendo are missing out on.

I'm gonna be honest. I have gone through and modded my switch about six months ago. And honestly, I've gone back to playing vanilla.
Personally, if I have everything at my disposal for a game, I don't feel like playing it: especially animal crossing. It was amazing to be able to call items into my inventory instantly, and speed up animations. But it felt very stressful because suddenly I felt like I needed to make a beautiful island right away. But of course, that's just my experience, yours might be different. If I were to fire up hacks again, I'd probably just do a few cheats of speeding up animations, immediate nook shopping items to your inventory after ordering, and instant text. I wouldn't want to hack in anything else because it would feel like I had nothing else to play the game for.

I don’t think it would affect you. If they did model swaps you only see the original items from your point of view. You’d see weird things like items in water that isn’t possible though. I don’t think it will harm your game. The modder that opened their island for a visit puts themselves out there to Nintendo. I’m too chicken to lift the safeguards that custom firmware has put on my my modded Switch though to invite anyone over for a visit . lol

@@KoraAperture I guess they assume it will hurt their sales (like their attitude with emulators for games AND consoles they refuse to produce or sell anymore, even if the person using it obtained the game legally), but look at what it's done for Starbound, for Skyrim: It kept bringing money IN (so much so that Starbound got multiple updates years later, and therefore had an influx of new players) because it was able to reach a wider audience, because people could continue to add content well after the launch at no expense to the company, and therefore no expense to the playerbase unless they could and wanted to show their support.
I think the only feasible argument might be that they are afraid of 1. the community creating something that destroys their vision for the IP in general, (which is literally impossible for any single entity, you will always have opposing and contrasting interpretations because PEOPLE are complex and they are what's playing your games. If worried about being associated with some ideal or concept they don't agree with, it's absurd. Adult mods for Skyrim or Starbound do not prevent children from enjoying the vanilla experience, nor anyone from any age, for that matter.) or 2. they are afraid the community will start holding them accountable for their anti-consumer choices. Like their latest habit of launching games in an unfinished state, continued issues with never lowering prices for games older than 10 years with no improvements (still contain bugs), etc.

I've had a troubled history with modding Nintendo products so, as fun as it would be to inject some new content to get me back into playing New Horizons, I'll probably pass 😅 (My Switch is most likely a patched version anyway 🤷‍♂)

personally i am SO thankful that the acnh modding community started popping off, i haven’t played the game in months, maybe almost a year. mods however made me interested in this game once again and i’m currently back to playing every day! (that is, until splatoon 3 comes out)

I’m tempted to mod my switch cause I got it December 2017. But I’m afraid something will happen to it. In the next game, we should be able to customize the buildings and have a wider range of colors on furniture. I also liked that in the original AC, villagers would paint your roof. I want some rudeness back.

I love ACNH but I can't risk modding it. I use my switch to stay in contact with my friends after moving to the city, so I can't risk getting banned. But man... this all looks so good. I haven't played in almost a YEAR due to school and I'm afraid of what I'll find when I go back. But also, I miss my sweet little island. It looked like trash because I can't terraform, but I loved it. I still do. I'm just... scared to go back.

Should just get a steam deck. It officially let's you do everything you'd probably want to do on a modded Nintendo switch without being potentially banned from all your legitimate purchases forever,Just because you wanted to play Gameboy advanced games that nintendo won't sell to you for some god forsaken reason.
Mother 3 fans will understand my feelings.

But I'd wait to get one. Some ppl can't shell out another 300 on another gaming console, and the steam deck is a GREAT idea but right now, needs major fine tuning. But for sure, in the future models it'll be more than worth it

  • @KaguyaH
    @KaguyaH Год назад

It's worth mentioning that emulation is a good option if you have a decent PC. Given these mods are single player only you're not losing anything with an inability to play online multiplayer.
Games can be legally dumped or illegally obtained of course. Depending on your moral viewpoint, you may either have zero issue with that or view it as being fine as you've bought the game.
Yuzu and Ryujinx both have excellent compatibility with Animal Crossing and have things such as resolution enhancement. If you're the kind of person that likes playing your Switch docked, then running the game at a higher res (1440p in my case) looks amazing.
Modding via emulation also has zero repercussions as you're not at risk of being banned by Nintendo over anything.
Final thing to note, newer Switches, Lites and OLEDs can be modded via modchip. It's just expensive as heck to have done and you'll have lost any warranty in the process.

I got my Switch in April 2017, so I'm sure that the system version wouldn't be a problem for me. Though, I am a bit worried to do anything with modding on my Switch in case if I get banned from online play or anything like that. Recently, I have been playing some Wii U and Wii games with mods, though. I'm just finally getting used to playing popular fan projects from other Nintendo game communities like Project M and Mario Kart Wii CTGP.

one thing thats been agreed upon between people who know how Japanese companies roll is that Japanese devs dont get the concept of how to cater to the audience, they dont get the concept of what would make a game truly shine and just stick to things that have always worked for them, which sucks because they lose all that wasted potential

Modding, cheating, whatever you wish to do with the product you bought should be ok, as long as you keep it to your console and don't dump anything online, "ruining" the game experience for legit players.
Every online game should be fair for everyone, that's what I think. Sadly most people don't agree with that and prefer an online experience where hacking is permitted and justified.

I say hacking online is okay as long as you're hosting the server and everyone gets the hack. Like making a fun lobby is okay in my opinion. Now joining someone's random lobby and killing everyone is a different story.
