I am old enough to remember a little free leaflet every month that I picked up in w h Smith in the 70's, listing all the new records that were coming out that month. It would be like a book nowadays! I absolutely love physical media, and in particular boxsets, of which I now have many. I love the calm way you present your channel. My tape collection has grown alot in the past 8-10 years from picking up demos at shows to reissues and loads of new stuff on tape (esp in Metal, Punk, Experimental musis scenes) Keep rockin man!

Hi Phil, I agree, in the Summer I started recollecting my old Vinyl collection which I gave to my brother in early 80s when moving south for work. Purple , Heep, Sabbath, Zep, Gillan, Maiden, Scorpions, Priest etc. I am over 100 albums now, it's expensive but I am really enjoying collecting. It used to be exciting, me and my mate going into town in the 70s to the record shop, not knowing what you were going to find and then coming back on the bus waiting to hear them when we got home. You learnt so much from album covers, band members, who wrote the tracks and photos. I feel a lot is lost for our youth when they just download a random playlist and they know very little about the artists. My tastes have changed slightly, with a blues rock, jazz feel interest, Beth Hart, Derek Trucks Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Gales etc but still love all my old stuff. A band that I have found recently which really excites me is Rival Sons, a fantastic singer and band with a raw edge and their last 5 albums are fantastic. Thanks for doing your channel and let's keep physical media alive!

I'm into coloured vinyl and got Giving The Game Away (Thunder), Blessings & Miracles (Santana) and Mojo (Tom Petty). Got the first two from Townsend Music for peanuts and, surprisingly, the Petty album from HMV which was £60 knocked down to £22. That in itself is bonkers and ties in with your recent video about vinyl charges. HMV in particular are starting to really put the prices up again, and here's me thinking they would have learnt their lesson from going bust previously!! Anyway I will get the turntable fired up in due course. Carry on the good work, Phil.

Have you heard anything from a band called Isenordal they are a progressive doom/death band who incorporate cello, viola etc into their music with clean and growling vocals, check them out, also Fen a great melodic progressive black metal band. I'm the wrong side of 60 now 😊 but my love of music has never waned, in fact my tastes have got heavier over the years, looking forward to more great content in the coming year. I do this sometimes with classical music releases that I can't find an used CD. Some sellers include a PDF of the liner notes, though I still prefer the CD. I look forward to hearing some recommendations for new music.
I appreciate your perspective of music and how that perspective has changed over the years. I am open to new music, but I find it is limited to certain genres and/or a specific "sound". I have been gravitating towards prog primarily as I get older I am (58). I find I have less space these days in my mind to be open to musics evolution.
Just a suggestion and apologies if you have already covered them but in my opinion the intriguing, quirky and unique band ‘ Pavlovs Dog are well worth reviewing. Not pay well known , hardly get any radio exposure, not easily able to define in terms of genre , style or influence but IMO a remarkable band .
I have to say that ,like Phil , and I suspect the majority of viewers my favourite period for music were the 1970’s when I was seeing live bands , collecting vinyl records etc. Having listened to BBC Radio 6 Music I find myself very underwhelmed by ‘ contemporary’ rock music . In my opinion everything I hear was done better the first time around and certainly would not bother purchasing CD versions as I can’t be doing with vinyl ( again) or streaming . I like to have the physical album
