Just got mine today. It's a beast. Not sure how it only got a C rating for dust pick up. I used it in the strongest setting (main brush) and it clamps to the carpet. Got 3 full tanks of dust/hair etc going back over where I'd vacuumed with my old Dyson.
Thanks a lot for video I was confused for assemble spend 15 minutes but after watch your video its took only 1 minutes to set up my hoover Thanks a lot
The colour scheme is growing on me. 😊 The hose/wand set up looks easier to use and bringing back the metal wand is a good move. I wish they added the shroud cleaner that would be one less thing to worry about. But it's a nice cleaner.
It looks very smart, especially compared to the Light Ball with it's yellow cyclone and shroud. It feels and performs much like the Light Ball, but the tools are an improvement.
I used to have the Vax Blade 32V which I thought was great. Then I started to get electric shocks off the handle. After watching this review I went and bought one of these. I could not believe the difference in cleaning compared to what is a very good cordless cleaner. I have mainly bare floorboards and this vacuum picks up everything from between the cracks of the floorboards. I have carpet in the hall and stairs and use the maximum setting, it makes it very hard to move but gives a very deep clean. I also adjust the suction to the middle setting when cleaning where the cat litter box is, this opens the suction doors on the cleaner head and allows it to pick up big pieces of debris first time without flicking it out. It also picks up brilliantly with its side suction vanes, getting right into skirting boards. Excellent review, I recommend this vacuum highly.
Just got mine to compliment my Dyson Cinetic big ball animal and V8. I love it. First time I’ve owned a new Dyson upright. It’s a far cry from the DC01 I was given 17 years ago!
I like this machine. I used my lightball on max and did 8 slow passes to remove as much dirt as I can. I will go over it one more time before the new furniture is in place
I like the fact they put a metal wand back on this machine, like they had to with the small ball, to stop the flexing and twisting of the spine of the machine when in use as an upright. This is something I never liked about the DC40 and DC41, and the DC50 was about the worst for its flexing of the plastic of the spine, due to the pole being made of plastic instead of metal. Its great that the Dc50 went back to metal wands with its successor, the Small Ball, and now the DC41's replacement, the Ball Animal 2 has a metal wand. A niggle I found with the Light Ball regarding the storage of the upholstery tool just sitting on top of the crevice has also been addressed on this model too. If I remember back to my DC15 Ball - the very first one, the exhaust on that one came out on top of the motor housing, under the bin - it didnt blow sideways across the floor. What seems very odd though is that although Dyson are including the epicyclic drive floorhead with the large debris gates on the UK uprights like the Light Ball and now this model, The Ball Animal 2, they did not include it on the new V10 in the UK - but they did for the US version of the V10 - how odd is that?
Hi. I'm debating the DC 50 with the 2 Tier Cyclones VS the Multifloor Variation. With the 2 Cyclone Tiers is the Suction actually better than the Multifloor. Thanks
Just unpacked my new Dyson pet ball 2 and thanks to this video realise I am not a complete numpty as I struggled to get the wand out again after assembly. Even with a light coating of PTFE lube on the "sticking points" I have decided not to fully enclose the wand and flip the cap :--)....on the upside - did a very large lounge rug, two stubborn bedroom carpets that I was going to replace and filled the container to max!! (my old pet cylinder has been deceased for 2 weeks now so lots of pet hair in the lounge unfortunately)...the upstairs carpets look really renewed. Me? Happy bunny :-D.
This is probably a response to EU regulations, the range of Dyson uprights looks completely different between the US and the UK. The US version is definitely more powerful but I would love to get my hands on this one, very sharp to look at and the articulating wand is a welcome innovation along with the suction settings on the cleaner head.
I could look into the cost of shipping one to the USA if you want, but of course it would be a 240 volt model and you would need some sort of transformer to convert the voltage to 120V. I can purchase one for £255 which is around $346. Obviously there would be shipping on top of that and I expect you would have to pay import duty.
Hey Roger, that's extremely generous. I have been looking at ways to import it but I can't find a seller. If there is anything you can do to help, I would sincerely appreciate it. I could return the favor for anything you might want from the US. I can certainly cover all costs but I know time is valuable.
I will need further details from you so I can get a few quotes for shipping. Would you private message me an email address on here or Twitter so we can discuss the arrangements. Thanks.
That's wonderful Roger, I tweeted you earlier about the NIB Dyson Blueprint. If you follow me there, I can DM you. If you prefer e-mail instead, I'm at mikekukielka@gmail.com Thanks so much!

I miss half an hour of Roger huffing and puffing! Anyway, great video as always. I can see why they have stopped developing corded, I don't think there's much further to go!
We are going to get a better understanding of your own you get a better quality of the only one that is good to be the only one who is a better understanding err the same period of a part time job and I was thinking that it is good to the same time you can pick up the only one that is a part time job for you can pick up a part of a part time job and efficient manner, but I'm going to be a few
100% Applauses for 2 reasons, 1. You are doing my favorite brand of Vacuums and 2. You just demonstrate a vacuum like a damn QVC announcer, have you applied for that job before, because I think you’d do quite well there!! 🤪😁👍🏻👌🏻
Surprised they didn't incorporate their Cinetic technology in this machine being a new model. The airflow looks like it's the best a Dyson has ever given. It's a shame they've stopped development of corded machines as I don't think the V10 cuts it compared to something like this. Great video as always Roger 🙂
I think the Cinetic is flawed and personally I prefer to have a pre motor filter. The Big Ball Cinetic is discontinued, but Dyson may bring out a sucessor to that. Aparently the retailer Very released this Animal 2 a month before they should and sold around 100 until they were told to remove it from the website. The V10 probably does nearly as well as this cleaner on Max, but obviously that will only be for a very limited run time. I think a cordless cleaner for daily pick ups and a mains powered one for a weekly or fortnightly clean is probably the best combination at the moment.
ibaisaic yeah that's what I do, I do the vacuuming in our house normally, if I see some bits on the surface, I'll grab my V6 and whip over it quickly and then I'll use my numatic James or our DC40 Animal Erp around twice weekly. You'd think the Cinetic would have been the end of the road for development for Dyson uprights as thats the ultimate thing ain't it? for a vacuum to have new vacuum like suction and airflow 100% of the time without the user Having to do a thing to maintain it. I've left our DC40 pre filter longer than a month accidentally a few times and I've never seen a loss in cleaning power with it, same with my V6. Think Dyson say to do them once a month so you don't get any dust build up on them That could cause a drop in performance.
The Cinetic Upright is still available in the US and no Dyson will still be developing corded vacuums. They just won't invest big quantities of budget for new technology on them, so they can put more emphasis on cordless.
Nice to see you getting more open to Dyson. Maybe it's just me studying engineering, but I do appreciate the design choices Dyson makes. But after having owned the V6, I cannot imagine going back to a corded model.
Many thanks for this demo as this is my 4th dyson never had a problem putting any together but this one the handle and hose I just couldn't get it, so thanks again.
Looks like an excellent machine, excellent improvment on those hose design. I still use my trusty DC04 at home which is still working flawlessly, but this model might force me to uprgrade. Question to anyone who can answer. How does this model compare to the older Dysons like the DC04? As the older Dysons were built like tanks in terms of quality. And is the ball design better than the plastic wheels for maneuvering?
I prefer plug in uprights. I want to buy one of these because I’ve heard some good things, and I like Dyson products, but I can’t find any for sale in the UK...
Great review Roger, as always. I’m tempted to upgrade from my Dyson light ball(which is a great machine) as I like the tool set up - much better storage and like the extra floor tool. How was the cable on the one you got as on mine it’s very very stiff.
Hi I’m really undecided on which upright corded vacuum to get. I currently have a Dyson v7 motorhead but the suction isn’t as good anymore and had to replace the battery twice in 3 years. Which would you recommend as the best upright please? Thank you in advance!
I have a question I have a dyson but it a DC18 slim I find it at goodwill I was lucky does the new dyson vacuum do a better job then the DC18 just curious
Wow they took designs from a lot of the older models. The shape of the handle is similar to the DC07’s handle. Metal wand for all older models, and having handle come out is like the way it does with the DC25
I quite like the look of that machine, I’ve not always been a big Dyson fan particularly where the price is concerned, but that’s not bad for the money
I noticed a blatant design error while Roger was vacuuming the kitchen floor. Because the exhaust leaves in a jet sideways, dust and particles get blown into the room air. This is bad not only for people who suffer from allergies. Why bother with a HEPA filter when the exhaust pollutes the room air with all the other dust which is still on the floor. On the other hand, one could use it as a leaf blower, hmm..
the difference between the UK variant and the US variant of the dyson ball animal 2 are: the cleaner heads. the Us variant had a belt while the UK version had a direct drive the colour scheme. the US version had a completely different colour scheme the motor. the US version is more powerful the fitting. the UK version has the newer fitting the wand release. the US variant had an instant release wand while the UK version had a telescopic wand the tools. the UK variant had an extra tool caddy and it came with a additional low reach turbine tool
I do envy this UK version of the Animal 2; the key two differences which the US version is missing are: 1) there's no articulating handle for the wand... there's no handle AT ALL, so I've been using a trigger-handle from one of their canister machines as smth to hold onto when using the wand.... 2) It seems to me that the wand in UK version transfers electricity, so that it can use motor-powered heads at the end (correct me if I'm wrong). That's pretty cool because I can imagine using, say, the "fluffy" motorized head from my V10 in combination w/ this vac. US version is just a plastic wand that can only be used with air-powered heads.
It is just a regular air powered turbo nozzle on the end of the wand. As Dyson say they are not developing new corded machines, this model is likely to be the best Dyson will offer in future.
So do you think this is going to be the more premium version of the light ball. Like they used to do with the older dc04s which had clutched and more basic non clutched models
I don't know. It shares a lot of similarities with the Light Ball, but after putting them next to each other I noticed the bin is slimmer and taller and of course the tool set up is different. As the Cinetic Big Ball upright is discontinued, Dyson may launch a new version of that which includes the new articulated joint.
I think this is the replacement for the DC41 MK2 / DC55 and Dyson Ball, which were all essentially the same machine, but were in excess of the 80db noise limit. Much the same way as the Light Ball was the replacement for the DC40. I wonder if they plan a replacement for the Small Ball, as this is also way in excess of the 80db noise limit. I gather the Cinetic Big Ball upright was in excess of the noise limit and also at 1300W was way in excess of the energy cap of 900W as well, and if they cant get the cinetic technology to work with less than 900W and get that noise level down, then the cinetic upright machine may be dead in the water. They did bring out a replacement for the Big Ball Cinetic cylinder though which met the 2017 EU regs, but the upright was not popular and it may be finished with no replacement. The fact that the V10 is not cinetic means that maybe Dyson might not carry on with cinetic technology as the pre-motor filter really is essential to cover for user error or overfilling of the bin, to protect the motor from dirt contamination. Cinetic was a good idea in principle, but it did not allow for user error, and people dont use vacuums religiously as Dyson would like them to.
Fantastic video as always. Really quite interested in a light ball but my felix isn’t even two years old yet. The wand set up is an improvement and I like the low reach head, almost reminds me of the DC07 low reach which cake with a low reach head.
Hello ibaisaic, First of all, thank you for all the great videos you are making. Secondly, i have a dilemma, which dyson has a better suction power: Big ball animal 2 cylinder (canister) or the ball animal 2 upright? Thank you in advance!
Thanks pal for showing us how to put it together. You were clear and very helpful - much better than the instructions in the box. Could you help the government with Brexit?!
Does the exhaust air get very hot? I have the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal and the exhaust air on that machine can get uncomfortably hot, especially if the machine is next to you whilst using the hose/tools etc.
Bought one of these a few months ago and am still waiting on Dyson to fix it! From the get go, straight out of the box the dust canister doesn't open when you press the button. I have had THREE replacement cyclone units sent to me by Dyson and they ALL exhibit the same problem. You press the button and the dust bin lid doesn't drop.open. the problem is that the button doesn't push the red rod of plastic which goes down the side of the canister down far enough. If I push the rod down manually the lid opens. This is a manufacturing fault and Dyson don't want to know.
@@Mr.D.Michael Just bought one and exactly the same, wont bother phoning them if they are all like it. The rubber seal of the canister lid seems "grippier" on this model than my DC41Mk2. I like the cleaner otherwise so not going to return it. Maybe some talc on the seal would help or it may loosen over time with use.
Quite surprised to see people in the UK/EU market getting an improved model, with adjustable gates on the motorhead (rather than the US/CAD model we have here where some people have complained about the auto-adjusting cleaner head not working well with thicker carpet), an articulated handheld vacuum arm, and being able to attach all vacuum attachments onto the Ball Animal 2 itself. A shame that we do not have that kind of model here, since they mostly transitioned to selling their cord-free vacuums, rather than selling newer uprights to fix the design flaws that the US model Animal 2, or other models suffers from. Maybe sometime, we could get just that. But for now, I shouldn't get my hopes up too much. Still, thanks for the informative video. It really is useful to see an in-depth video on these kinds of product!
what do you think about a Dyson Ball Animal 2 Refurbished from dyson any good or will it brake or not as good as buying it new as very low price for them on Refurbished as it xmas time.
Hi, I've seen this and cinetic animal videos. I need some advice, I can get Cinetic Animal for £200 and Ball Animal 2 for £240, which I want to replace my DC07 with. Which should I go for? According to your detailed reviews, BA2 would be better. Thanks.
That’s correct spoken with a family member who works for Dyson and Very/Littlewoods released then a full month earlier than they were supposed to. So for the moment I’m enjoying a rare Dyson that only 98 customers in the world have!!!
Now available on Dyson website for £299 www.dyson.co.uk/content/dyson/gb/en/products/vacuum-cleaners/uprights/dyson-ball-2-upright/dyson-ball-animal-2.html
Excellent video once again. Ive noticed Dyson sell a refurbished version of this machine on their ebay page, for less than £200. Have you had any encounters with Dyson refurbished machines? Im guessing theyre better than DirectVacumes.
I unboxed a refurbished Dyson on my channel and it was like new. I would recommend them if bought from Dyson’s official Ebay store. Direct Vacuums are very hit or miss.
So much better explanation than the one on Dyson's site. I wish I had seen this first. It would have saved me 3 failed attempts & 6 hours of despair

If you're not in a rush, I reckon it will be on offer within a couple of months. I get discount from Very so I got £50 off mine.

Now they do!
Thanks very much for this. You saved me lots of time on assembly for which I'm the least patient person ever ⚘

the fitting. the UK version has the newer fitting
the wand release. the US variant had an instant release wand while the UK version had a telescopic wand
the tools. the UK variant had an extra tool caddy and it came with a additional low reach turbine tool
This is alot better than the US version
Will this one be coming to the US?
Im excited for the 21/23 motorhead
The DC21 won't feature during Dyson week, but the DC23 will.
Ok cool
The 23 is better anyway with a much improved bin and the core separator root cyclone
Thanks. So obvious now! Thanks again.
Hi roger do you have a dyson Small ball
I do envy this UK version of the Animal 2; the key two differences which the US version is missing are:
1) there's no articulating handle for the wand... there's no handle AT ALL, so I've been using a trigger-handle from one of their canister
machines as smth to hold onto when using the wand....
Ahh I see - I had assumed the smaller brush-roller head was electricity-powered. Thanks for the quick response man!
How does this machine clean on medium height carpet?Does it clean as well as your mk41?
Cinetic was a good idea in principle, but it did not allow for user error, and people dont use vacuums religiously as Dyson would like them to.
wow looks good I might get one after looking at this video
That colour scheme is an interesting new turn. Not sure if I'm a fan though
I think the cleaner head is more powerful and has different brushes here in the US
Cool review!!!:)
Fantastic video as always. Really quite interested in a light ball but my felix isn’t even two years old yet. The wand set up is an improvement and I like the low reach head, almost reminds me of the DC07 low reach which cake with a low reach head.
Hello ibaisaic,
First of all, thank you for all the great videos you are making.
Secondly, i have a dilemma, which dyson has a better suction power: Big ball animal 2 cylinder (canister) or the ball animal 2 upright?
Thank you in advance!
Canister
Thanks pal for showing us how to put it together. You were clear and very helpful - much better than the instructions in the box. Could you help the government with Brexit?!
Does the exhaust air get very hot? I have the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal and the exhaust air on that machine can get uncomfortably hot, especially if the machine is next to you whilst using the hose/tools etc.
I haven't had it long so I've not noticed . It's only 700 watts so I doubt it will get too hot.
During the video, I did not see how to vacuum a hard wood floor with the brush not spinning. How do you do this?
You just turn off the brushroll motor using the switch next to the main power switch.
This looks quite good
Bought one of these a few months ago and am still waiting on Dyson to fix it!
Yep. Same thing here
@@Mr.D.Michael Just bought one and exactly the same, wont bother phoning them if they are all like it. The rubber seal of the canister lid seems "grippier" on this model than my DC41Mk2. I like the cleaner otherwise so not going to return it. Maybe some talc on the seal would help or it may loosen over time with use.
As an update to this, once the cannister was emptied a few times its working as it should now, not sticking anymore.
When are you gonna get the v10 absolute
IM GETTING THIS TOMORROW
It really is useful to see an in-depth video on these kinds of product!
what do you think about a Dyson Ball Animal 2 Refurbished from dyson any good or will it brake or not as good as buying it new as very low price for them on Refurbished as it xmas time.
giggity it is OK
Oooh, nice, I will have to buy this. How heavy is it compared to the Light Ball Upright please? (UK).
It is heavier than the Light Ball but don't know the exact weights. Check out Dyson's website for the specifications.
Thank you.
Simply amazing 😉 love you 😍I also got this home it’s great 👍
I need one and it reminds me of the old ones
Great Vid, i am in the UK, where can I buy this please? can you share a link?
Jake Jacobs so you don’t know how to use google?
Hi, I've seen this and cinetic animal videos.
I need some advice, I can get Cinetic Animal for £200 and Ball Animal 2 for £240, which I want to replace my DC07 with. Which should I go for?
According to your detailed reviews, BA2 would be better.
Thanks.
The Ball Animal 2 is better in my opinion and much quieter.
@@ibaisaic Thanks!
This model has 270 awatts?
I thought james dyson said he would no longer be making corded vacuums with heavy motors?
This would have been developed before that announcement was made.
@ibaisaic thank you i was wondering about that. You guys in the uk seem to have more interesting vacuums than the U.S.A.!
Hi, this was for sale on Very web site for £299.99, but now seems to have disappeared................... where else in the UK are they available
I have only seen it on Very. They have possibly sold out or put it on sale too soon and Dyson have told them to remove it.
That’s correct spoken with a family member who works for Dyson and Very/Littlewoods released then a full month earlier than they were supposed to. So for the moment I’m enjoying a rare Dyson that only 98 customers in the world have!!!
Now available on Dyson website for £299

Excellent video once again. Ive noticed Dyson sell a refurbished version of this machine on their ebay page, for less than £200. Have you had any encounters with Dyson refurbished machines? Im guessing theyre better than DirectVacumes.
I unboxed a refurbished Dyson on my channel and it was like new. I would recommend them if bought from Dyson’s official Ebay store. Direct Vacuums are very hit or miss.
@@ibaisaic Found the video! Ill give it a watch, but it seems like re-furbished from Dyson means new.
