How do you get a dog to go in the crate to go to sleep for the night. My 9 month old Australian Cattle Dog pup will go into the crate if we pick him up and take him to the crate when he’s been asleep for a while. If he’s not ready to go down he’ll walk away. I want to be able to walk him to the crate and go to sleep for the night!! PS he looses interest in kongs sometimes after a few licks. And treats can get him excited. During the day on occasion he goes into the crate and will lie down for a bit on his own. Would also love how to teach him to relax in and out of the crate. Thank you!

I rescued a pup about 9 months ago and he has been crated whenever we leave till now! We do lots of crate games, he only get meals, Kong’s and Toppls and chews in the crate but we think he’s ready for some freedom! How do you feel about transitioning out of the crate? We plan on leaving the crate out so we can continue to feed all the yummy things in there!

Crate transition video would be a great one. I’ll have to do that. For now work on small periods of time. Like go check the mail then to fill up car with gas then to grocery store. Randomize the periods of time you are gone. They do make pet cameras these days to help you monitor while you are away too.
