Edward VII only had two sons. Princess May (Mary) was engaged to Albert Victor but never married to him. He died only 6 weeks after their engagement was announced. It was in fact illegal to marry your brother’s widow (after Henry VIII) until 1949 when the law was repealed. So if Mary had married Albert Victor, she couldn’t have later married George. The Bolsheviks were a political movement not a family. The October Revolution which brought them to power in 1917 happened after the Tsar’s earlier abdication in February that year so they didn’t replace the Romanovs but did murder them in 1918. George’s part in the withdrawal of the offer of asylum is unclear but he did change his mind about it probably (as you say) due to fears of Revolution spreading to the U.K. from Russia - which was a real fear while WW1 still raged & USA hadn’t yet entered the war on the Allied side. The inclusion of material about Edward VIII is confusing as he was George V’s son (not his sibling) & therefore belongs to a different chapter of history in my view. It’s an important part of George’s story, true but should rightly be told with those of his other children most notably Prince Albert (latter George VI).
@ Tragic, but cot deaths were common in the period & how does a baby of one day leave any room for further comment? The point remains Edward had only two sons who lived to comment on.
@@ianmacdonald9932 It's still inaccurate to say he had only two sons, you have to die in the womb in order to not count as a live birth. But yes, we only got to know two
I did not like Wallis Simpson much, but I understand he adores her and left everything for her. They seem happy together, which is important. The whole Monarchy is very different today. We have King Charles III and Queen Consort Camila, who are both divorcees. I must also admit that I absolutely love Princess Diana, yet I am aware that these two weren't exactly matches to be together. I am glad King Charles III and Camila are fine together, just that many years after all of this they do belong together.
Actually, all that is a manufactured "fairy tale" fashioned to keep the British Royal family from negative and very damaging gossip. Wallis loved Earnest Simpson who had pimped her out to support their lavish lifestyle. She did not want to marry 'David" but was blackmailed into doing it as she had been pimped out to a high-ranking Nazi officer also. Letters have surfaced where she wrote Simpson for the rest of their lives. Actually, Edward VIII had Nazi sympathies and because of that he was forced off the throne. Wallis who was only the last of a long list of mistresses who became a scapegoat to protect the British Royal Family's supposed "good name." Even though they appeared to stay together until the Duke of Windsor's death, both had multiple lovers and separate bedrooms. It was said Wallis could barely veil her dislike of the duke of Windsor. Many witnessed that.
I see my reply was deleted but if you do research, you will find out it was more about Nazi sympathies than his supposed love for Wallis Simpson. She was the scapegoat to save face for the BRF.
So King George V was a spare the became king and his son Berti also a spare and became King George VI. A spare with no definite role has some serious consequences. HRH Princess Margaret Rose had her charities but she was considered to aloof to stand in very often for her sister Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll. And Prince Harry, a spare chose celebrity over duty and sincere dedication to his father King Charles III and his awesome brother William the Prince of Wales. So a spare we no official role seems to be doomed!
You forgot Andrew was a spare too and look how he turned out. In reality Harry has fared better than either Andrew or Margaret by leaving and making his own life. BTW he did not choose celebrity, that was doomed to him by birth. I think if he could have lived some obscure little life, he would have preferred it. He wanted to marry Chesley Davey and do just that, but Chelsey knew he would never be allowed that life by the British media and broke it off with him in 2009. The only reason Harry was finally allowed to leave was because William had 3 children, three new spares for William.
@ Yeah forgot about randy Andy. And you are right about PH he probably could have done a quiet life but he chose a poisonous walk disaster to marry and got infected in the process! You’re right. He could’ve done a lot of stuff. But look what he picked. And she turned him in to a willing shameless hustler!
Great video. Thank you. Happy new year 🎉❤

There was a 3rd son Alexander John who only lived around 1 day

bad sound
Edward the 7th had two sons not three sons
He had three, Albert victor, George v, and Prince Alexander John
Prince Alexander John lived only one day which was very sad indeed
No. He had a third son, Prince Alexander born in April 1871. This son only lived for 24 hours.
He did have Prince John who died at birth.
Princess May if Teck was the FIANCEÉof Prince Albert Victor
bad video, bad research, very bad sound
“La morte della madre”???
The Bolsheviks were a political party not a family, but this video is otherwise well researched so I'm sure you just misspoke
terrible voice, sorry. Excellent video but get someone else to read stuff.

He was gay.
sure.
There's no evidence of that but even if he was, what of it?

And yet, despite getting that lesson over and over, the royal family has learned nothing
