Brain gave some of the very best job interview advice I've heard in years. Great point about asking questions. I think most young people in particular are a little intimated at the thought of asking questions and that's why they don't ask them. Great advice Brian.
Wise man, Mr. Mark Dwight says a lot about success is not necessarily just growth. Thank you for showing us the interview. Congratulations on being top 3 website! :)
The people who didn’t stay til the very end missed some good belly laughs. I laughed so hard I choked on my water. “We’ll you weren’t there Brian.” Your delivery was great, Drew. So funny. Thanks a lot guys.
That's fantastic on making #3 on that list. Well deserved to the whole Goulet Pen company led by Rachel and Brian.🎉 I was just telling my husband this week about the above and beyond amazing customer service given me from Adrianne. We both agreed that service like that just doesn't exist ANYWHERE else. It brought such a good spirit to my day.
As a business owner myself, and someone with quite a bit of disposable income that goes to my pens, this was quite possibly the most important, and valuable, pencast I have ever watched, and I have seen 100% of all 103 episodes! Thank you so much for this kind of content!!
Well, I didn't think I would be spending my evening Googling 'Mike the Headless Chicken', but thanks to you guys, that is exactly what I am doing😂😂. I am reading that he survived for 18 months after losing his head by being fed via an eye dropper. An eye dropperable chicken, during the turkey hammock zone. It can only be the Goulet Pencast, where hen-ything goes😊😊 I thank you.
Thank you for another beautiful, insightful, and hilarious pencast. @Drew- I enjoyed meeting you at the SF show. Your jacket is 🔥. Peter’s is where the SF Pen Posse meets up, which I imagine you knew, but I was thinking about the corned beef hash as you described the food and experience. I am in love with my Schon Monoc nib (I mentioned that I had just bought it when I got the privilege of meeting you), and I hope you guys are enjoying yours, too. Congratulations on being the number 3 website🎉! You guys have outstanding customer service, and the wealth of resources is unparalleled. Also, thank you for sharing your favorite nibs. I learned about things about nibs that I don't often use😊. I loved Mark’s interview and learning about the origin of Rickshaw Bags. His insights into small business was fascinating.
Rickshaw is such an awesome company. They did a special edition pen roll for Tailored Pen Co several years ago and I really loved the print, but wanted a different style of roll. Tailored Pen Co reached out to Rickshaw and they made a pen roll just for me with that print! And shout out to Tailored Pen Co because I wasn't even able to buy one of their pens. I was really obsessed with the print they commissioned.
I really enjoyed hearing the Rickshaw origin story! I first learned of their products through Drew showing his pen cases and since then have purchased a number of Rickshaw products. They are incredibly high quality cases and quickly became my favorite way to transport my fountain pens. This interview is yet another example of how you are building up this community - by making space for people to tell their stories.
Wow learn a lot more practical management tips and wisdom in doing business from this video than in paid courses that teach only theory. Thank you Brian and Drew for the insight, and for Mark Dwight for a humbling inspiration. These gave me new perspectives on life!
Brian: "...bug goes up toward the light.. too tall, can't reach it." Drew: "Bow & arrow! Hatchet! Throwing knives! ... So many options." ROFL!! Love the new Pirate pen! Just in time for Talk Like a Pirate Day on Sep 19! Thanks for another great pencast . . . and *congrats* on the high Newsweek ranking! You definitely deserve it.
Saw Drew’s cameo in the Yoseka stationery vlog about SF pen show-actually first heard his voice in the background and then saw his colorful shirt and it was so fun so see the mashup! Maybe one day you guys can do a combined show, like Nancy Drew x Hardy Boys books lol The show looked more chill than DC and also seemed great because so many people in the FP universe were there this year
Brian and Drew, always a good pencast. I really appreciated your response to interviewing and vetting the company as much as they vet you. Your discussion made me think that if I were to interview with the Goulet Pen Company, what question would I ask of you. So here it is... I have been a public middle and high school teacher for twenty years. We teach today in a highly digital world (lessons, textbook, and assignments are now or can be all online). However, I still see students in my classroom writing with a pen, and when talking to me, they express how much they still like to write notes and journals by hand with a good pen. This allows me to talk with them about fountain pens, and it often ends with me gifting the student with a Pilot Varsity. This young generation is still hungry to write by hand. How is the Goulet Pen Company team learning about the next generation that is growing up and how to inform them of something they want but do not yet know about...fountain pens? What is your outreach and education, based on what you have learned, to this younger generation?
I would like to attend a pen show, it's on my list. Enjoyed the interview with Mr. Dwight so much I ordered one of their pen rolls. From Goulet of course. Thanks guys hope you have a great week, and bring on the Fall weather! Congratulations on the online rankings.
The Mr. Rick Shaw interview was great! I could listen to him talk for hours! I have many Rickshaw products and they are high quality, well-made items that keep my items factory fresh!
Hi, guys. Puce is French for flea. The color was especially created to hide the fleas that French gentry had upon them (before the 20th Century). So the true puce color is a dark brown/purple. Excellent show, as always. Drew, if I make it to the San Francisco Pen Show next year, I’ll invite you to dinner. I can’t have you eating hard shell “tacos.”
Brian, your advice on questions to ask an employer during an interview is gold. Great advice for people to consider. I like how Drew described it: applied values. Motivational posters or HR/marketing fluff doesn't mean anything to current employees. How they are regarded/respected/rewarded matters a lot. Especially today with the big push for healthy work/life/family balance, it might be easy to assume that some employer esteems these values, but asking these questions outright is the best way to highlight the importance to the employer and gauge where the organization places these in their core values.
Brian: "Do you have any questions for me?" Applicant: *literally anything* Brian: "Well... it depends..." *30 minutes later* "Does that answer your question?"
Love the segment on good work environment. I have always had a feeling that you run a great work environment and this part of the video definitely cemented my belief. I wish more places had the integrity and professionalism that you display. Awesome job.
That intro gives me an idea - it would be great to see you guys play Just A Minute! It's a British radio game show where contestants (comedians, celebrities) would begin speaking on a given topic for one minute without hesitation, repetition or deviation - if you do any of these the topic switches over to the other person (repetition only applies to longer, less frequently used words - using 'the', 'a', 'and' etc. as you would doesn't count as repetition). Your dynamic is so fluid it sounds like it would be so much fun!
I’ve pretty much gone full fountain pen. I even took a Platinum Preppy with DeAtramentis Document Black to the pool for some journaling. 5:17 I always take paper notes then use them for minutes, action items etc. I’m a Hobonichi user. I was happy to find out my Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) workbook has reasonably fountain pen friendly paper, a little thinner than spiral planners if anyone is curious. I do use ballpoints or gel pens for signing things and underlining in books. Sometimes a Uni rollerball (only rollerball with permanent ink)
Friends ask me all the time-what do you write about? Like it’s a strange concept to many people. Which is odd because I’m in my 50s and have kept a journal my whole life….so friends my age group grew up very used to hand writing. For me, it’s the best way to keep memories, keep a schedule but most importantly to make sense of myself and the world. Everything I want to explore internally gets expressed on paper. Helps me to be more creative with my thoughts.
Listening to the feedback comments about peuce cargo shorts. 😂 Can’t help thinking this could’ve the next Goulet sticker: Turkey wearing peuce shorts standing by his hammock.
Completely unrelated to anything pen related, but I was scrubbing stains off my deck this weekend to prep it for staining while listening to the pencast. It felt strangely appropriate considering how often Brian talks about his dad's power washing company and how much you both discuss yard work!
DC is a much closer show to me, but I really want to get to the SF pen show at some point, both for the vibe and because I'm a huge stationery nerd. One of my fave Japanese stationery shops was actually there (Cute Things From Japan), and I wish I could have met them. Maybe in a couple years I'll make it out there.
Stubs are my favorite and I also love the Franklin Christoph Fine SIG nib. I’d have to say that is my favorite along with the Techo nib from Esterbrook and architect grinds. Custom grind and line variation is where it’s at for me!
Ok Drew. I bought the Pirate Party pen. I also got suckered into the Stealth Purple Pro Gear since it was the last one in broad. I was just going to get the Slim, but the blog post explaining the difference in nib feel and a little extra length making it more comfortable made me pay the extra $100. I hope it is worth it, as I've been eye balling the Purple since last year.
It was so cool to meet you, Drew! It was in line to get into the show on Friday, and I asked my mom to take a picture! Thank you for pausing to pose even though you were carrying like 3 drinks in one hand. It really made my day!
German "O" has two different pronunciations depending on whether it's long or short. In this case, it's long because it's followed by only one T, and that makes Brian's pronunciation closer to the German pronunciation than Drew's. Drew's pronunciation would be closer if the name were "Rottring". Neither of them sound German, but that's perfectly fine. While I appreciate people trying to pronounce foreign names correctly, I (a German) wouldn't pronounce German names exactly like I do in German when I am speaking English. That would just sound weird and pretentious. "Roe-tring" and "Rottring" would both be good enough for me.
I only own 2 Pilot Metros and Ive already started a spreadsheet. Just made my first purchase from you, so looking forward to filling that spreadsheet up with ink sample reviews!
Hi Brian and Drew. Since TWSBI has spent time and effort finally developing their own ink cartridges and converters, I think we can all see that they are not going to just stop with the Swipe as their sole cartridge converter pen. Looking to the future, my attempt at prognostication would be to say that as their new cartridge is everything that the woeful Standard International should have been, so a cartridge pocket pen with the existing Eco/Go/Swipe nib and feed would be viable. Such a pen would sit nicely in the product line between the Mini and the Vac Mini for people who don’t want a piston or vacuum filler. Most of the parts needed already exist to “Frankenstein” something. Think the Swipe and a Mini having a baby. My crystal ball also says that another possibility could be something to compliment the much overlooked Classic. Imagine the dignified, office appropriate lines of a Classic without the piston, fuelled instead by a cartridge/converter. Surely the Classic and a Modern Classic together would be a worthwhile offering? Again, most of the parts are already available. What say you, gentlemen?
Vac and piston fillers are great - until they break or you have to clean them. That new Jinhao 9019 has a gigantic converter. I'm hoping to see that in more pens in the future.
The favorite nibs in particular pens was a crazy fun question. It is a toughie, too. However, after much thought, for whatever it’s worth, I’d go like this: EF - Montblanc 220 F - Visconti HS Bronze Age F-M : Pilot Justus 95 SM - Pilot Falcon M : Pilot Custom Urushi B : Sailor KoP, Sheaffer Legacy I BB - Lamy 2k Stub : Stipula Florentia Opera (Stiflex nib) Italic : Aurora Talentum (Aurora’s is the best italic I’ve used, so far). Music: Platinum 3776 Choosing the Medium nib was the hardest one. There are a few other special nibs that I enjoy a lot: Pilot’s Waverly, Sailor’s Zoom and Naganata Togi, Aurora’s Goccia.
If I had unlimited money, I would focus on curating my collection. Vintage restorations, custom grinds, and one of a kind items. And I'd continually be adding and removing pens. Always striving for that "perfect collection," I know I would never achieve. This would keep the hobby endlessly interesting to me. Also, I would hire a "pen valet," who would handle any pen tasks I didn't want to do in a given week. From cleaning pens to photographing and posting ones for resale to searching and researching new acquisitions. But, since, I often like doing all those things, my "pen valet" would just handle whatever I didn't want to do at a given point in time. This sounds exciting. So, I better get going and start that endless money flowing so I can make this a reality! 😉
My favorite gold F nib is the one on the Platinum President. It is rigid, but amazing in every way. Soft Fine, I only have one it was my first gold nib, but the SF for the Platinum 3776 blew my mind. It has bounce, great flow, and a joy every time I use it. Steel f nib, the sailor on the Taccia Spotlight--this is has become one of my top 5 pens as it super comfortable and is a joy to write with. A hint of feed back but yet still smooth. I agree with Drew about the Lamy 2000 m nib. It is soooooooooo smooth, althought I think it is broader than most mediums. For those who worry about the fabled "sweet spot", it is mythical. I've noticed that with all hooded nibs, it usually takes a bit to figure out the proper way to hold it--with a regular nib you can see the rotation easily. But the Lamy 2000 is definitely worth it, although for my personal writing style, I wish I had gotten a fine, but it even so, the medium on the Lamy 2000 is my favorite medium (gold or steel).
I’m a hiring manager and my organization recently started doing videos and anonymous webinars to introduce positions and answer questions. The thing that ties a lot of what you guys mentioned and what I think people can look out for is evidence that the employer is honestly showing you who they are, and the same goes for candidates. I have tons to say about this and can go down some Brian-esque rabbit hole on this subject but I’ll try to keep it short. I think interview processes are a two way street and should be treated as such. I want candidates to be vetting me as much as I’m getting them because not every job or work culture is for everyone. I think hiring managers should do their best to be empathetic with the people who already work for them and the people who may potentially work for them. Your hiring processes reflect the humanity in your approach to both of these things. I also think setting culture begins with the hiring process. But I say aaaaall of this because I work in an organization that cares about the culture it’s building. One might argue all organizations should, but they don’t. I think though you can tell when organizations are making you jump through hoops for the sake of it and when they’re honestly just trying to ge to know you. The video thing is a great example. Brian share why he did it, and I like doing it because I want to set every candidate up to show me their best self. I’m not asking gotcha questions because that has no bearing on whether someone is a good fit. In any case-I do love how much care goes into the Goulet team and it’s one of the reasons I’m a customer.
I have nib creep in two of my vintage pens, no matter what ink I use. (I didn't know it was called that--- I was calling it "nib weeping," and I assumed it was because of wear/age.) It bothers me a little bit, but the pens still write perfectly. Congrats on your website rating! You totally deserve it!
Just ordered the Traveler’s Notebook from you guys. I saw a couple of (really) old videos on the Goulet site about the notebook. Would be great to see an updated one that focuses on ways to use the notebook and the TN and 3d party accessories. Also, the TN pen loop (M) seems way too small for some of my pens (like the Homo Sapien). Any recommendations for an alternative? Can’t wait to get the new notebook and all the accessories.
Howdy! I really found your nib discussion interesting and informative, However, I do have to chip in with my 2 cents. I recently purchased a Delta Duna with a fine nib. I inked it with Robert Oster Dragon's Night, held my breath, and put pen to copier paper. My first thought? "What magic is this????" This pen is an absolute glider, better than any other fine nib I own and does what I want any great pen to do: It makes me want to write more.
Hi Guys!: Another enjoyable pencast! I feel you Drew, as I myself have fallen into the Delta in Atlanta trap! Twice, in fact! Both times had to go to the opposite end of the Atlanta airport to get one of their planes, the second time our flight had already left and they don't hold planes apparently! Myself and my elderly mother had to rush completely to the other side of the terminal and barely made the second flight!! ARRRGH! It's not like we were flying the plane that was late or anything! Anyway, rant over! Glad you had a good time once you finally got to the show! Looked like a lot of fun! Also really enjoyed the belated interview also! As an end to this LONG comment. Would it not be cool if little trees started popping up on top of Brian's Log Graveyard! Kind of a form of recycling!
I forgot that was my username 🤣 Thanks, me from middle school. Anyway, sorry for the difficult question, but thank you both very much for the answer! I learned a lot and really appreciate it! One nib on one pen that everyone should try: Gotta agree with Pilot VP fine. Spectacular pen.
"When I reach for a writing utensil, I don't reach for anything but a fountain pen" - meanwhile... holding the Pirate Party rollerball pen the entire time....
WAIT a piece of lore that absolutely makes sense was unlocked!! I think this may be the first time youve mentioned that youve both had Pontiac Aztecs. How did I know that you both lived the Water White-core life 😂❤
Two things for Brian. About your lawn mower battery. Be sure the alternator on the mower is actually working and is trying to recharge the battery. If the battery is only 2 years old, it shouldn't be dying like that. Of gcourse it just could be a dud. About your wasps. Get one of those bug zapper lights. I had one for years and they work a treat. Just be sure to hang it a good distance from any frequented areas. Also get one of those zappers that look like a tennis racket and carry it for personal protection. I think these are better options than chemicals. About nib creep. My Custom 823 has nib creep but I've only ever use Noodler's Whaleman's Sepia (my fav ink) in it which is a very wet ink. I'll try an ink with a bit more viscosity next time I need to refill it.
Music nib: Platinum. The Sailor and Pilot and Taccia (and Franklin-Christoph) are OK, but the Platinum is best. Steel nibs: Jowo is great, but I really like the super wet Schmidt nibs on Benu. And the Bock titainium nibs are interesting. One of the most interesting easily obtainable steel grind is the Franklin-Christoph S.I.G. (in EF, F, M or B). And Lamy and TWSBI are great. Company culture: I was in academia for 40 years or so. An interesting culture that not many survive. You always have to be on your toes, and invent and re-invent yourself, but in authentic ways. Wow! I really liked timbuk2 back before they were taken over. Not as interesting today. Rickshaw is great!
Question, can you prefill a spare cartridge converter and plug it with the balls that plug the disposable cartridges or will that damage the connection to the pen? Mostly for when you cannot carry a bottle to refill or don't have time but don't want to use the disposable cartridges.
Thanks for another wonderful pencast. It's like my weekly visit with dear friends. @Brian, I also have a "wasp adventure." It's not as epic as Brian's, but definitely on the more ... ahem ... personal side. 😉 When I was much younger, a wasp managed to make its way into our house. Unbeknownst to anyone, it decided to hang out in the bathroom, specifically on the toilet in that gap between the seat and the bowl. When I sat down to do some business, it vindictively decided to sting me on the back of the thigh. (It coulda been SO much worse!) Needless to say, it's a good thing I'd finished because I jumped straight up - while uttering a few choice words. 🤣It's funny now, but at the time it hurt like a son of a biscuit!
Damn, this Sailor Sale was NOT expected. Finally get to have a Pro Gear at a good price. Can't wait to see Storm Over the Ocean. Also, great interview with Mr. Dwight! Once I heard about Rickshaw's pen products (Great Wave 6-pen roll was my first), I thought there was more than a striking resemblance to Timbuk2's material choices, offerings, etc. Been a huge fan of Timbuk2 since the mid-2000s, and have seen the same quality in Rickshaw, which isn't a surprise as to why!
Question for you - What would you recommend for pens to use with a Traveler's notebook + traveler's pen holder? I currently have a Lamy Studio clipped to mine, but am finding the pen finish to be getting damaged when I unclip, I've tried screw top cap pens as well but with poor results.
Drew, if you enjoy tea at all, you owe it to yourself to try Biscoff dunked in tea next. I'm a coffee fan much like you, hot all year around and all day long, but Biscoff in tea for whatever reason just works so much better.
I remember seeing the Goulet littles in old videos, and I have thought before that I would love for them to make a guest appearance. But I get it. I miss seeing them, but it totally makes sense why they do not make appearances.
Confession Time: I've actually gone one step better (or worse?) than Brian's "log graves". After taking down trees, I've been known to then dig up the stumps only to turn around and dig a different hole and bury them elsewhere. Literally, spending HOURS to take something that is already underground, dig it UP, and then move it to a different hole. (This one is really hard to explain to my wife when she asks what I was doing outside on the tractor all day)
Loved your nib list. I do love my steel Lamy 1.1stub. I'm more with Drew and tend to EF F and the occasional MF. But never M and Broads. Found the stubs suit my writing style. So I've been considering getting another Vanishing Point with a stub. Any comments on the Pilot stub on that pen? Love your discussion on company culture. I've experienced in both good and awful, so doing home work on the company is very important. When on an interview, if they offer to show you the work environment and they talk work culture, it shows they at least take it into consideration. Look around and see how it feels. If their web site is only about them and nothing about their employees and culture it is a good clue that it isn't one of the companies concerns. All your comments about interviewing are very good points. Anyone looking for a job take note!
Gentlemen, I have a question. What is the significance of the number 88 in fountain pen? I’ve searched around a bit and didn’t come up with a conclusive answer. Any help would be appreciated.
Nibs I love - XF - Lamy 2000 (with a dark ink - perfection), F (don't have a lot of these but enjoy the TWSBI ECO) , MF - Sailor PG 21K, M - Pilot 15 nib (on 743), B - Pilot 15 nib (on 823), specialty - Pilot FA 10 nib (on 912). In general, my fave size is a Japanese medium/EU fine nib and my favorite brand for nibs is definitely Pilot (with Sailor 21K PG as a close second). And that hornet story was terrifying!
Thanks to Drew, yes I'm blaming him for this, I find that I just love the M TWSBI (mine is on an Eco). Never have to struggle to start, smooth as glass, and very budget friendly. I also have a TWSBI stub on a Go, now this one I really have to think about when I'm using it as I can outrun the flow, but when it writes it's beautiful. I want more TWSBIs now. For extra fine, I like the Lamy Al-Star.
Wearing puce cargo shorts as I listen to this. Now, they are also about ten years old so does that make me ahead of some super-cool cargo shorts trend? 😂😂😂
Following on from the favorite nib of each size question, what situations do you find yourself using each nib size? Personally I've found myself only using Stub Nibs for general use or XF nibs for tight spaces, to the exclusion of other sizes. Would like to know why you keep one of each size rather than just stocking all Mediums for Brian and all XFs for Drew.
Brain gave some of the very best job interview advice I've heard in years. Great point about asking questions. I think most young people in particular are a little intimated at the thought of asking questions and that's why they don't ask them. Great advice Brian.
Excellent interview with Mark! I've been a Rickshaw fan for several years now. So fun to hear his origin story. Thanks for the great interview!
Wise man, Mr. Mark Dwight says a lot about success is not necessarily just growth. Thank you for showing us the interview.

Congratulations Goulet Pen Co for your recognition as a online retailer!!! Well deserved. Keep up the fantastic work.

It’s hilarious that Drew talked about what he ate as much as (more?) he talked about what was at the Pen Show 😂
It was the easiest part to remember! The actual show was kind of a blur! - Drew
I would like to attend a pen show, it's on my list. Enjoyed the interview with Mr. Dwight so much I ordered one of their pen rolls. From Goulet of course. Thanks guys hope you have a great week, and bring on the Fall weather! Congratulations on the online rankings.

Late to the party, but WOW. Mark's story and career is incredible. What a wonderful interview, thanks!

I'm surprised Brian doesn't have a woodchipper. You could make so much mulch!
Pirate Party looks awesome, Drew! You did a great job helping to design it. I would totally get one except I have no need for a rollerball pen. 🏴☠
Brian: "Do you have any questions for me?"
Applicant: *literally anything*
Brian: "Well... it depends..." *30 minutes later* "Does that answer your question?"

I always take paper notes then use them for minutes, action items etc.
The pineapple shirt is giving me Psych vibes 🍍🍍🍍
Now I need a video about pineapple pens and inks
The pirate pen is epic, Drew, congrats!!
Thank you!!! - Drew
I'm glad that Drew allowed the Rickshaw CEO to fully talk, and not interrupt him.
Listening to the feedback comments about peuce cargo shorts. 😂 Can’t help thinking this could’ve the next Goulet sticker: Turkey wearing peuce shorts standing by his hammock.
I have a jewelry background but would love to work at Goulet some day. I took a lot of notes during this pen cast.
The sultry sounds of pen talk and banter are just the right amount of whelming. :P
Thank you for answering my question about nib creep Drew!
Wow! #3 of all "arts and crafts" websites. Well earned, and I'm not really surprised but seriously, that is cool!
For the buried logs, I suggest planting flowers and putting up a headstone that reads: "Here lies Log an' Wood." 🤣🤣🤣
The moment when Drew was crying laughing about the buried logs.... which then made me cry laughing too!
Pirate Party here, too. #030 😊 love the black ink it lays down on my Leuchtturm a5, arrg!! ☠️ ☠️ 🏴☠️ 🥳 🎉
It was so cool to meet you, Drew! It was in line to get into the show on Friday, and I asked my mom to take a picture! Thank you for pausing to pose even though you were carrying like 3 drinks in one hand. It really made my day!
So glad you said hello! Thanks! - Drew
Bryan was right about the pronunciation of Rotring. Drew was pronouncing Ratring. O sounds "oh" and A sounds "ah" in Deutsch.
Such a great show!! Affagatos & Jibun Techos!!!!
LOL yesss! - Drew
Cats are agents of chaos. They survive on cuteness and soft fur. Our tuxedo girl has yet to cause a pentastrophy. 7:02
Jeez, you can really tell how much Drew likes his coffee from the interview.
The interview was amazing
So awesome meeting Drew this weekend! I was there when you got your vending machine ramen! Thanks again for making me feel so welcome!
It was so super awesome meeting YOU, Karyna! - Drew
Congrats on making 3rd in Best of Online (Craft) Shops!
The favorite nibs in particular pens was a crazy fun question. It is a toughie, too. However, after much thought, for whatever it’s worth, I’d go like this:
EF - Montblanc 220
F - Visconti HS Bronze Age
F-M : Pilot Justus 95
SM - Pilot Falcon
M : Pilot Custom Urushi
B : Sailor KoP, Sheaffer Legacy I
BB - Lamy 2k
Stub : Stipula Florentia Opera (Stiflex nib)
Italic : Aurora Talentum (Aurora’s is the best italic I’ve used, so far).
Music: Platinum 3776
Choosing the Medium nib was the hardest one.
There are a few other special nibs that I enjoy a lot: Pilot’s Waverly, Sailor’s Zoom and Naganata Togi, Aurora’s Goccia.
Omigosh I'm now so tempted to plan a trip to SF pen show for 2024...
PLEASE! - Drew
Bees are my biggest irrational fear in life and I'm now physically sweating after listening to Brian's part of the 'What's Happening?' segment.
One nib that everyone should try, is Pilot’s Waverly nib like on the 912. It’s one of my favorites.
I forgot that was my username 🤣
Thanks, me from middle school.
Anyway, sorry for the difficult question, but thank you both very much for the answer! I learned a lot and really appreciate it!
One nib on one pen that everyone should try:
Gotta agree with Pilot VP fine. Spectacular pen.
Also didn’t hear y’all mention the Music nib… for me Sailor. Non gold… Noodler’s Triple Tail.
"When I reach for a writing utensil, I don't reach for anything but a fountain pen" - meanwhile... holding the Pirate Party rollerball pen the entire time....
came here to say this. scrolled first to see if anyone else already had. thank you.
😂😂😂
You got me there! - Drew
😀😜😁@@Gouletpens
I bought 2 rotring cores after you guys mentioned it for the first time. Im an engineer at a power plant and it fits the vibe to carry around lol.
Question, can you prefill a spare cartridge converter and plug it with the balls that plug the disposable cartridges or will that damage the connection to the pen? Mostly for when you cannot carry a bottle to refill or don't have time but don't want to use the disposable cartridges.
Are the SF nibs the exact same on the Pilot Falcon and the metal version of the Pilot Falcon?
OH NOOOOOOO!!!! - Drew
I started playing this episode, carefully put my pens in a safe place, and started to feed the cat....
"You weren't there Brian". Ha Ha Ha!!!
Oh wow! Drew, Peter's Cafe has been a regular meeting place for Pen Posse for at least a dozen years now!
I heard about that! It's got a gravitational pull, apparently! I'd love to go back! - Drew
I remember seeing the Goulet littles in old videos, and I have thought before that I would love for them to make a guest appearance. But I get it. I miss seeing them, but it totally makes sense why they do not make appearances.
Spoiler... they ain't little anymore! Haha! - Drew
So I've
been considering getting another Vanishing Point with a stub.
As to the accumulation of pen boxes might I suggest selling them as you do with empty ink bottles. I would love to have some of them myself!!!
Brian, you must try the Lamy 2000 BB nib... its amazing!
Favorite steel stub… Pilot .9 on metropolitan…. Visconti Rembrandt 1.9 for wide steel stub.
I wonder if there's a market for Pilot Frixion ink for fountain pen. what do you guys think?
Stupid question, just got me some Robert Oster Caffe Crema......love it....its like writing with coffee, so.....could you?
Bring on the superfluousness! ✒️
You got it! - Drew
Favorite gold stub 14k Aurora Talentum.
I think that everyone's secret dream is to get a job at the Goulet Pen Company.
Yes! I live 1 hr. 45 minutes away😔
"I mean, you HAVE a Bee Suit" - ha ha
