imho donk vs Faze on nuke Katowice was one of the best. Dude in one moment dueling with 2 opponents: jumps on a box - kills first(second fires at donk at the same time), after donk's first kill, he jumped off the box than kills second Faze guy. It was cyber-acrobatics movement level Neo from cs 1.6
mezii's ace is beautiful, a clean one tap onto a jumping guy right before he gets out of mezii's sight followed by another one tap with the last bullet.
people were sayin how JL or niko got robbed of their highlight of the year becuz their clutch ended up winning them the match while donk clutch they still lost the map but there is huge difference between donk clutch and niko/JL the donk clutch was he was hunting the 5 people he was T side and going into the plant there was 5 CT he had to check every possible angle and he aced them while Niko/JL ace was just them sitting in one spot and waiting for enemies to come much easier to pull ace that way
All the plays are amazing, donk won because of several factors (including recency bias obviously), but mainly because it was a 1v5 and those clutches are always seen as something other-worldly. Also, my opinion, but the movement aspect of it is just beautiful, you can see how well he feels every strafe, while niko and jl highlights are more about pure aim, which is why some people perceive them as better ones, I guess.
Donk's ace was picked as the highlight of the year despite Spirit losing that map. I think it makes a highlight greater if they win the map but not winning doesn't diminish it either. I like the Skullz one 🙂
