Ren is currently in Canada, getting treatment for Lyme disease. For years, doctors said that all the pain he was experiencing was in his head and they gave him drugs for "mental" illness. The Lyme disease caused a lot of real damage as it went untreated and he's got a long road of recovery ahead of him. His community section on his youtube page is how he is keeping people aware of what he's up to. He's an incredible young man that basically can do anything musically that he puts his mind to. He was also in a band, "The Big Push", that has a youtube channel as well. They've got a bunch of videos on their page as well, especially of them Busking (street performing) in/around Brighton.
The usual story of Lyme.
Doctors are actually punished for diagnosing the disease because if insurance recognizes it as a real disease, they have to pay a lot of money to a lot of people.
So there is a lot of pressure to pretend it's not real.

You wife was worried she wouldn't understand, but I think she understood better than most. It took me several listens to really appreciate everything that was going on, so I was impressed. I think if you listen again you'll find even more meaning and appreciation.
I have heard this song 100s of times and watched a ton of reactions. Every time it gets to the end where he sings (after the loosen the noose line), I tear up.

Ive listened to him for years now. I would say that all of his songs are amaaazing.
I specially like Ren and Sam´s "What went wrong" part 1 and 2.
Children of the moon is also good. Kinda where he found his style i would say.
I don't know if you'll see this comment, but wanted to say that though I understand the sentiment of wishing you'd not reacted to this and had watched it privately, I cannot understate the value that reactions such as this have for many people.
Ren is an absolute genius musician and storyteller, and this song hits deep with a LOT of people. There is so much to connect with, between his personal struggles, the intensity of the performance, and the message at the end, and many viewers are left raw with emotion by the end.
Even though we've never met, and I'm watching this at a later time, to me it still feels like a shared experience, and that someone else understands the feelings evoked by this work of art. That's what makes your reaction special, it hits harder but somehow also feels safer.

I'm 63 and I cried the first time I heard it and every reaction video I watch of it. Crying is a natural emotion. I think Ren is genius.

I have been impatiently anticipating your reaction to this amazing artist, and of course your reaction did not disappoint. “Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered more than 5 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are often recorded live in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of his songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day.
Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern bard. His trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" is haunting and has an unforeseen conclusion. It needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline. It is another example of Ren’s genius and a master’s class in storytelling. It has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy.
Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world.
Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” and his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake).”
His performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the Moon), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”) are all great.
Ren's performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up), their busking (street performances), concerts, and their live recordings, are awesome and well worth checking out. Ren's covers of "I Shot the Sheriff," "Wade in the Water," "An Englishman in New York," “War Pigs,” the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” "War Pigs," "Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," "Watch Out," and so many others are equally impressive.
Ren recently released his single, “Sick Boi.” In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. As mentioned above, his latest release, “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” is another masterful work.
I have no idea why, but when you said "I hope he's alright" I just felt so overpowered with emotion i dont quiet know why but i just felt that. Trust me i have seen ALL the reactions ever done to this music and yours was by far my favourite, good luck to both of you in life!

For me Ren is a genius. I have never listened to any hip hop and now after discovering him I find myself listening to him every day, although his music is not hip hop, you cannot put it inside of any genre. He creates his own genre. And this song as well as "Sick Boi" I feel very personal because I am dealing with chronic illness and I feel like Ren is the voice for all of us dealing with similar illnesses. And I cannot express my gratitude enough to him for that.
But if you want to hear more of his music I recommend you "Tale of Jenny and Screech" (full version) which is a triology. I really think you will love it. And I assure you, you haven't heard anything like that.

totally agree! i am a 56 year old man. i have watched this song so many times and i cry every single time. i feel no shame in saying that. Ren is a rare talent and a beautiful human being and he touches my soul. it is what it is.
Ren is one in a lifetime artist that will always be in the hearts and minds of everyone that gets chance to hear his music.
I've listened/watched this song so many times, it chokes me each time. apparently it took a few takes to get through the song due to his pent up emotion, the song is a release for him, but it resonates with us all. How she reacts at the end is how I feel every time I listen to this song.I've gone through so much similar to ren with auto immunity and mental health problems.I feel so emotional every time I listen to it. It's a hard one, but it's so so good.

Apart from the brilliance of the song, The lighting really got my attention. Every time the "Shadow" of his mind was talking, the lights were flashing. But they were steady in his natural guise. But also at the end with his Medieval singing & dancing. Loved the Medieval intro & outro. So cool.

OMG! I love you guys. I discovered Ren at the end of December ‘22. I have been watching reaction videos for hours every day since. I’m homebound with autoimmune issues plus other preexisting conditions. When I say hours I mean 5-12 hours a day. A lot of hours. You two have never shown up on my radar. Not my homepage, not in suggestions section; nowhere. I have a lot of catching up to do. Amazing reaction. I subbed. What a lovely reaction..😉❤️✌️

--- --- I wrote the previous lines in the middle of the song, but after finishing the video I have to say more. You guys are the first to not focus on how you can relate to the song directly, and instead saw it as Ren's struggle, and you felt so much sympathy for Ren, instead of for yourselves, as most reactors have.
I am somewhere in the middle, able to relate to Ren, but also wanting the best for Ren as well. The look on Good Ren's face as he's confronting his demon and trying to stand up for himself in the beginning is so heartbreaking. I've seen this video and reactions to it enough that I get a little bit upset when I see people bobbing their heads and smiling as the dark side tears Good Ren apart in the opening verses. I really felt for him, and it was very nice to see your wife feel so much for him as well.
