His attitude with his friend not buying the magnet thing was funny. The real funny thing is that he's right though. So many things effect sustain. One of the last things I would bet on would be the weak magnetic pull from passive pickups. Sustain is over-rated though because the difference in sustain between guitars goes well into the 10 Second mark which is much longer than anybody would practically be holding a note. Not to mention that sustain can easily be lengthened with compressor pedals and amp settings and player/amp proximity. Anyhoo this guitar is such a weird mess I almost want one just because it's so weird.
I had no idea about that guitar. Cool guitar and cool video. However I have 5 words (names actually) for you. Steve Morse, music man. Frankenstein, telecaster. Still glad I saw your video.
Thanks for this video, Dane. I've wondered about the tones of this guitar for months. I was particularly concerned with the tone of the humbuckers. Regrettably, the tones seem to be numerous, but lacking. I don't think I'll be translating my curiosity into a purchase any time soon. As to the question of sustain, I feel that the apparent sustain difference MIGHT be because of the admittedly numerous pickups, but I also wonder about the setup. As I'm sure you know, Strat-style single coils with Alnico magnets use those magnets as pole pieces. This construction brings the magnets closer to the strings than bottom mounting the magnets would do, allowing the magnets' pull to distort string vibration -- which condition is known as "Strat-itis." For that reason, I wonder if the setup of that Sawtooth might have the single coils a smidge too high. Either way, what I heard often sounded muddy. I didn't like it much, so unless I can audition one of those puppies in person, I will probably leave it alone!
Actually, a week or two ago, Dylan Talks Tone proved that magnetic pickups do NOT affect sustain. He proved it mathematically and with a demo. Go find that video and watch. Now there are a lot of magnets here, but I would imagine his math would still hold true. Maybe Dylan should be contacted by Zimm’s to collab and make a video about this guitar where Dylan can perform the same test and mathematical computations he did in his other video. Btw, Zimm’s would need two identical guitars - one with single pickup and the other with this configuration. I studied research methods. There are too many variables between both the guitars compared in this video - they’re made of different wood, probably don’t have identical strings, different tuning pegs, the necks aren’t likely identical shapes, different bridges, etc.
@@MashaT22 Dylan proved no such thing. He wrote some math equations on a board. It shows the force falls off with the square of the distance. So what? Dylan brings up all these interesting ideas but often proves nothing.
I think is just WAY to much magnetic fields to close to each other. And I am sure to much pull on the strings also. But then again, sure all that also would give one a different tones from standard builds. Cool idea and guitar tho.
Exactly! The magnetic pull on the strings is why a single pickup guitar is preferred by some. That's a lot of magnets to affect string vibration in that thing.
You need a kill switch for each pickup to work properly for you if your truck has the right motor for your vehicle or your vehicle you should get one that is the same motor and it has an automatic steering and it will not take long if it’s the wrong engine it should not have to do the drive but you need the car for that car so I think it will take longer and it would probably cost a a couple hours for the car and you have the battery and you could get the motor off and it will just go in and it should last longer if it’s just take you more money and then if it’s the battery it won’t won’t cost a couple bucks and then it’s just gonna take longer but if it does it’s worth the it won’t cost more expensive to replace your vehicle has been in warranty so if it’s in good quality you have the battery and it’s worth a new motor you have the right to use your truck has to have it in good luck on that one of your vehicle has to pay it is a lot cheaper but it’s worth a price you need it will take time but it’s worth every penny so just keep your money you have the car you don’t want the other two and if it needs it will take time you have a car that has no issues getting the same mileage as as a new vehicle so if it’s something like an emergency it needs the extra time and money and it doesn’t take that time and it doesn’t have a car you can get the money but it will be more money so it’s a good money but it doesn’t take a bit less than. See what it needs for you have you need a lot less or a truck but it’s worth the so I think it will cost a bit cheaper and it’s just the money 😊. Kill Switch for Every Pickup and Reverse Phase is a Great Option for the Price of a New Car in my opinion. It’s about speed and durability and the power to make it more powerful and faster for you than the Switch for a New One and a lot more than you think it would need for the next car in your lifetime to make the same car for a long period in your lifetime and you will have a great time in your life as you are going through this year with your new cars that will you have the next car you. What am I hearing? Is it the amp interacting with the acoustic sound of the guitar? If so, the less acoustic sound we here, the more in the strings, and the more sustain, but you will not hear it very well. Sustain is probably influenced by the bridge, nut and frets - maybe the bridge is the issue. You would think the harder the bridge, the more sustain. Also, if you think the magnetic strength is too much, you could measure it with a gauss meter (or get the app that is so-so). I have done this. I have found the app magnetic power decreases a great deal after a sufficient amount from the pickup. It goes like 9 to 0 back to 9 as you go from pickup to pickup. You could always lower your pickups height. I think this guitar is a wonderful idea - but I would want a bunch of more single coils. The combination humbucker and single coil makes me think that it is full of 500 volume and tone pots which to me makes the single coils sound too bright.
How is the distortion sound i had a ET highbred ya to much pull on the strings from the pickup with a Floyd rose making you think metal can be played with it Michael angelo got good pickups in the one he used
@@JaniceLalla The quality of the gig bag is decent but the downside is it only unzips to the middle of the bottom of the bag. You have to be extra careful not to scratch the guitar taking it in and out of the bag. This guitar has an angled back headstock and a gig bag is not ideal for it ✌
Maybe it's me but that guitar sounds muddy. With all the pickup combinations it has, none of them seems to give good high end bite, just mushy muffled tone.
the quicker fading of that note may be why Batio has the Mid range max on his amp, and claims he only uses a compressor and overdrive (heavy amount of delay but he won't say that). that compressor pedal is probly his hopes of sustain. im not a huge fan of batio, literally everything he does is the same and he makes every guitar sound exactly the same....dead and only good for shredding. he's not the most musical guitar player i've listened to. and his "degrees" prove it
Ah yes, the SHSHS pickup configuration.
I want to add coil tapping capabilities.

Love that sawtooth guitar, tones for days Love MAB such an awesome guitarist
Thanks for showing that one and to your friend, looks great and fun!
From the viewer perspective, it seemed both guitars lost most of their volume at about 8 seconds.
The pickup on the Kramer is much higher output, it’s not resonance it’s volume

He was right, that did make a cool video 🤘🏽
Wow That’s A LOT of pickups! Nice video DANE. 👍
I agree, there is alot of magnetic field impacting the strings. There are several videos on single humbucker guitars and sustain.

Sawtooth are cute, the way they think they're in the Fender/Gibson league now, and they've raised their prices by 600%.
I’m surprised Josh from JHS doesn’t have one.
