This song might even change my life for the better as I am about to have another go at 'recovery' after a relapse from drug and alcohol abuse. And being a musician myself, one of artistic and self proclaimed "I have insight into life itself", as we all do under the influence of drugs and alcohol....weather that be true or not...it is what we see in the 'straight mind' that truly defines us. It can be bloody hard, I'll tell you that...but when achieved, tis a joy to sit on that mountain of "Recovery".
Wow Matty. I am very proud of you for coming forward with this statement, very well stated, too! I know you can do it :-)) Be well and stay the course. Wishing you all the best!! ~Jackie

This song for me tells a deep dark story. I used to be very broken inside as a child. But god was with me and still is, it's never to late to ask for mercy, peace, love and happiness!
It's crazy how polarised public opinion is of him. Have the people who criticise him in the tabloids ever actually listened to his music, as opposed to hear it whilst distracting themselves doing something else? If they did, they might just have some respect for the man!
I think it's simply about being able to separate the artist from the person. He's a homophobic prick, but he's an incredibly talented singer and songwriter. I can criticise his attitude and respect his work at the same time.
Nina R Listen Oh! clueless one. Lucy Spraggan, who's comments started all the hassle, after James made that comment to rapper Micky Worthless. in a rap. Came out publicly and defended James saying, no way is James homophobic. But felt his comments were out of place in todays society. Which is quite correct. Also during X-factor shows, James roomed with Ryland Clark for 10 weeks, and BTW, became best mates. Ryland also came out publicly, and also defended James, stating, James is not homophobic, he's just a silly boy doing what he did.
I guess I thought I knew more about this than I actually do. That *is* silly, but not unusual, and much less serious than I thought. At this point, the thing that saddens me the most is the fact that I was surprised not to find any insults in the comment of someone who disagrees with me. Cheers.
My name is brona and I am trying to highlight mental illness and how people are treated I am protesting in mallow outside Norwood it is a mental health facility love this song it shows how mental illness can effect someone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Mental health has damaged me I'm only 11 and I've already tried to commit suicide twice by taking 21 fluoxitine tablets and 2 ibuprofen tablets and a diazipam tablet
I feel very nice hearing that so many people dealing with severe illnesses are able to deal with them through this song!the fact that he has succeeded something so important makes him a true artist who touched our life
I get your points but I kinda disagree with that you think that this song transfers the acceptance of mental health, psychological diseases because I think that Get Down is the best song that captures these emotions of dealing with anxiety, depression and mental health. Just my opinion, what's your favorite one of IAMSITE ?

Pozdrawiam.

this song hits home for me. I too am a recovering addict. I allowed my addiction to literally take everything from me. I lost my children, my home, my belongings, my life. Here I am 165 days clean fighting to get it back. I went into inpatient treatment on my fathers birthday whom I lost to a drug overdose, my clean date holds a lot of importance and I am going to fight like hell to keep it and to stay out of the hell addiction put me in.
way to go! I to am a recovering drug addict. I am 45 days clean after a relapse. I just came across this song two days ago and am in love with his passion and talent. this song means a lot to me. To all the addicts who are suffering, you can do this, one hour at a time, one day at a time!
Leona no?! She outsings both of them! I`m not talking about the commercial succes, but the quality and the range of her voice, And the emotion she transmits. Have you heard her singing Snow Patrol`s Run LIVE at the X Factor? If that doesn`t give you the chills, then you might as well cut your ears cause you`re deaf.
***** I don't like DIVAS in general. so sorry. I don't like Leona... she makes me sleep I'm so sorry... it's about taste not about range. It's music !!!! Freddie Mercury was/is the best no question about it. Adele has personality, Leona is boring but only to me, no worries.

@@gracerogers3324 no one asked if you asked... you think all comments on RUclips are supposed to be personal answers to your questions? I sense a little narcissism 😂
The reason why we all adore his music so much is because you can FEEL the authenticity. I doubt that there's one human being on this planet that hasn't experienced something he sings about. We feel his pain, because every one of us has felt pain. We feel his enthusiasm, because every one of us has felt the feeling of falling in love, or doing something we love. We can relate to him because (for the longest time), we've not truly felt emotion from music. And he gives that to us. He's a TRUE artist.
OMG! An old song that means so much still and is so pertinent to this time 2020. We all need Recovery! This song and Train Wreck resonate with me so much. I used to listen to this song when I was 14 without knowing what it's actually about. Now I realize how great its message is. And James's voice is extraordinarily beautiful.
I’m coming up on 3 years sober. If y’all want any motivation to stay away from drugs, then know that I STILL feel tempted to relapse… sometimes for seemingly no reason. Addiction is dangerous as hell
I think that the reason why this song became so popular is because so many people feel identified with the story, including me It's so sad to know that more than one went through that situation 😔😔
+Maira I disagree. It's the very fact that others have gone through similar harrowing situations that makes us feel supported and gives us answers and a way through.

Paige Music those words can be very triggering for an alcoholic. They are not cured as well as can never be cured from alcoholism. Many relapses happen because they think now that they can “control it” because they have so far. They think they are cured when in reality, they cannot be. They have a gene that will never go away. So saying those words may trigger them to believe they are cured :/

why is he not popular like shawn mendes or those ridiculous rap artists that are suddenly in the top charts??!!! HE IS SO ORIGINAL!!
@Payton Boggess WHATTT? 🤣DO YOU KNOW ABOUT SHAWN, HOW ORIGINAL IS THIS ARTIST ........IF YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT HIM OR ABOUT HIS MUSIC(you don’t have taste but it’s ok....)DON’T JUDGE HIM AND DEFINITELY DON’T PUT WITH MENDES ARMY BECAUSE FOR US HE MEANS THE ENTIRE WORLD OK? James Arthur has such a rich and beautiful voice. I'm in my late 70's, and could listen to his soulfull voice forever.
💟
~Jackie

Since the first audition I have watched you grow and I am not disapointed
This song for me tells a deep dark story. I used to be very broken inside as a child. But god was with me and still is, it's never to late to ask for mercy, peace, love and happiness!
Same, I can visualize my whole life, starting from childhood, listening to this song

Well done, keep it up ❤
It's crazy how polarised public opinion is of him. Have the people who criticise him in the tabloids ever actually listened to his music, as opposed to hear it whilst distracting themselves doing something else? If they did, they might just have some respect for the man!
Couldnt have said that better myself!
Also during X-factor shows, James roomed
with Ryland Clark for 10 weeks, and BTW, became best mates.
Cheers.
Nina R Your welcome. The Press were quite quick to slate James but ignored LS comments, later defending James. Which is typical of the UK Gutter Press

Masz racje też śledzę postęp w karierze Jamesa ps. to też mój ulubiony artysta
;-)

***** Adele ok Leona... no.
Leona no?! She outsings both of them! I`m not talking about the commercial succes, but the quality and the range of her voice, And the emotion she transmits.

@@jeremyprater4556 you are no longer an alcoholic then. You used to be alcoholic but you aren't one. Good for you getting out of that
Paige Music those words can be very triggering for an alcoholic. They are not cured as well as can never be cured from alcoholism. Many relapses happen because they think now that they can “control it” because they have so far. They think they are cured when in reality, they cannot be. They have a gene that will never go away. So saying those words may trigger them to believe they are cured :/
