Cuántos días me acompañó esta melodía en Floreana, aquella isla amada entre “Las Encantadas”, al borde del promontorio, frente a ese Mar del Sur que con sus bramidos me devolvía a mis viejos temores. Temor y temblor frente a la inmensidad, temor y temblor ante lo insondable… Cuando la friura amenazaba mis huesos, a modo del sortilegio, encontré refugio en esta cadencia noche tras noche amansando la fiera, convirtiendo en sosiego la zozobra .
Escuche por ahí alguna discusión acerca de la ausencia de swing en Jarret. Toda esta grabación es una prueba palmaria del desatino de esa opinión, pero escuchen "Everything happens to me". Si eso no es swing ¿que lo es?.

Es como si te dicen que oscar Peterson no tiene swing, o que Charlie Parker no sabía tocar bebop, o que bill evans no sabía de armonía… vaya estupidez.. has escuchado a jarrett los bises de conciertos a piano solo tocando blues? That is him playing with his whole are heart and soul. . The spirit is what’s coming out and you’re hearing the outpouring of that. Listen to the incredible music coming thru him. We are blessed. Btw many jazz musicians make sounds similar it’s just 5he way it is. I hope this helps.
Here is Keith Jarret's explanation of why he makes sounds during his interview with Marian Mcpartland: "There's not enough space for the input and the output at the same time.. that's the only explanation I can come up with. There's stuff going through me and stuff coming out on the piano but it isn't everything there is, so it's only going on in my head and I'm following both trains at the same time. But it's also ecstatic because if - the perfect example is the first encore at the carnege hall... I sat at the piano and I remember saying to myself something like - not in these words but this was the feeling: "It's not yet time to lower my resistance and just drop some encores onto everyone, there's still something to do"... To me the body of the concert was still going on, so it's a completely improvised piece but there was so much longing in one part of it that I could never get the sound that I heard in my head out of a piano, and you'll hear me pause and you'll hear me make a sound, and that is one place I can precisely describe why that sound existed. It was [like] when you reach for something and you go "unhh". You know you're not going to necessarily get there - in all respects I was doing everything that I could do on the keyboard, but there was even more than I could have possibly presented on piano. And that's usually the reason that the sound is there."

Don’t focus on that, listen to what he plays, it is unnerving if you’re not used to it, but the rewards are endless
