Very humble genius, MK is. He is clearly the leader up on the stage, but he definitely gives the other musicians their due, and it is never all about him. He seems to enjoy the whole package - the fun and enjoyment of sharing great music, enjoying the fans, taking and giving cues to his friends/bandmates, etc. He is so true to his music and versatility in his style, you always know you are going to be treated to a really great musical experience. I love his playful little smiles when he makes eye contact with the guys, and the crowd. Pure musical nirvana.
Yes, especially considering he is the songwriter and regarded as "the genious" behind Dire Straits and because of that the "main man". He truly is awesome
If this concert was a one-off it would be spectacular: DS at their spell-binding best. But they were putting in gigs in one location after another, worldwide, each one demonstrating an unsurpassable level of musicianship. DS, there will never be a group like you. Thanks for the memories.

This was during La Feria des Vendages in the incredible Les Arenes. I arrived in Nîmes for my Erasmus year a day or two before they played. We hung out in a nearby bar to try and hear what we could.
I heard Sultans of Swing for the first time at 36 years old... and it instantly became my favorite song of all time. I dunno how it took me 36 years to discover this band. I've heard their songs before, like Money For Nothing, but never knew who it was and never took a big interest... but now I can't stop listening to them. Just an absolutely amazing band and Mark is an absolute beast on the guitar.

I was lucky enough to catch this tour at the Garden in NYC. It was a fabulous show. One of the local deejays was there as well and was talking the next day about how blown away she was.
For some reason I get absolute chills everytime I see Mark play Wild Theme, especially on the On Every Street Tour. I don't know why, it might be because it closed off one of their final concerts as a band, or it might just be amazingly written. Honestly, I think it's a mix of both
this albums has been etched in my soul during my childhood .. it must be no 1 on my list, next to some Metallica albums, it is SO beautifull .. those guitars sound like made in heaven.. best sounding guitars I've ever heard so pure, so warm, so precise. They are forever in my heart! ❤❤❤

Everything comes out terrific in Nimes amphitheater ! The best place for concerts, especially for Mark Knopfler , he did it with his own band, many years later ! He's the best guitarist of that generation !!
Their best show with Alchemy....The versions of all the songs were phenomenal, the sounds, the production, the atmosphere, in the 2000 years old roman amphitheater, in France, everything was perfect, and epic....Magic....I'm just sad they didn't played "tunnel of love"😢😂Nothing is perfect.....But, that was almost perfect (and they were all happy)❤Bravo DIRE STRAITS, ce jour là vous avez tous déchiré😂

J'ai dû l'écouter et le regarder des dizaines de fois dans les années 1990, peut-être des centaines de fois. La meilleure musique. Les meilleures interprétations. Télégraph road est exceptionnelle. Télégraph road, interprétée ce soir-là, est la meilleure musique de l'histoire humaine. 👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻
J'y étais !!! Concert mémorable . J'en ai encore la chair de poule, d'une part par leur interprétation, d'autre par parce que nous sommes tombés sur le jour où le concert s'est déroulé en grande partie sous la pluie !!! = beaucoup se sont réfugiées sous les tribunes et nous avons terminé gelé mais le cœur chaud
Mon concert préféré, je l'avais enregistré sur Canal + à l'époque, la VHS n'en pouvait plus à force mdr . Je rêve d'une tablature de ce Calling Elvis, Sultan of Swing et Telegraph Road ! (je sais, d'autres versions sont disponibles ^^).
MY LORD!!!! Calling Elvis was an incredible opening. It’s Dire Straits at the very peak of their career with uncanny guitar riffs and explosive percussion & drums. I’m completely blown away. Is that Terry Williams on drums. It’s hard to see. He’s easily my favourite DS drummer and never got the praise he deserved.
I recently listened to an interview with dure straits manager Ed bicknell, he said the on every street tour was extremely difficult because of personal reasons , Mark in particular was not too happy at the time , no signs of it here

Ce concert est pour moi le meilleur concert de l'histoire musicale. Mark Knopfler est à son apogée.
À l'époque, en 92, j'ai vu le concert en direct sur Canal+. Je l'avais enregistré sur cassette V.H.S. (bande magnétique). J'ai dû l'écouter et le regarder des dizaines de fois dans les années 1990, peut-être des centaines de fois. La meilleure musique. Les meilleures interprétations. Télégraph road est exceptionnelle. Télégraph road, interprétée ce soir-là, est la meilleure musique de l'histoire humaine.

Concert mémorable . J'en ai encore la chair de poule, d'une part par leur interprétation, d'autre par parce que nous sommes tombés sur le jour où le concert s'est déroulé en grande partie sous la pluie !!! = beaucoup se sont réfugiées sous les tribunes et nous avons terminé gelé mais le cœur chaud

Mon concert préféré, je l'avais enregistré sur Canal + à l'époque, la VHS n'en pouvait plus à force mdr . Je rêve d'une tablature de ce Calling Elvis, Sultan of Swing et Telegraph Road ! (je sais, d'autres versions sont disponibles ^^).

MY LORD!!!! Calling Elvis was an incredible opening. It’s Dire Straits at the very peak of their career with uncanny guitar riffs and explosive percussion & drums. I’m completely blown away. Is that Terry Williams on drums. It’s hard to see. He’s easily my favourite DS drummer and never got the praise he deserved.

I recently listened to an interview with dure straits manager Ed bicknell, he said the on every street tour was extremely difficult because of personal reasons , Mark in particular was not too happy at the time , no signs of it here
