- We look deep into the revenge game from this year's Elite Eight where Iowa faced LSU in a heated rematch. Caitlin Clark dropped 41 in a masterful preformance. Former college player turned trainer breaks down the entire game.
Former college basketball player turned trainer reacts to workout videos and tips from the pros, along with a few tips of her own. Balanced Basketball Academy aims to create a complete basketball player by addressing offense, defense, weight room, and mental work that is required to make it to the collegiate level.
Success isn't lucky, it just looks that way. ; )
Came for the algorithm, stayed for the analysis.
Caitlin can legit shoot from anywhere. Her range off the catch and shoot is crazy
13:35 - Interestingly, CC made two floaters in the past 2-3 Fever games; seems like she's starting to incorporate it into her game.
17:15 - CC also doesn't like to drive to the left (in relation to the basket).
20:36 - The Iowa post player should've drilled her left shoulder into the LSU center's body and/or used an up/under move.
23:14 - I thought I saw a similar hostage dribble move in the last Fever game; CC passed it to Aliyah Boston (center) for the score.
25:20 - Another one of CC's tells is when she guides the ball to her non-dominant hand (left) before launching a deep three.
32:15 - Surprised to see CC drive left (she normally goes to the right). Credit the LSU player (and coaches) for making it difficult for CC.
33:15 - CC should've baited and/or waited until the center committed, before dumping it off (or shooting).
Maybe a breakdown of a few top draft prospects for the 2025 WNBA? What do you think their ceiling is? Why? Will WNBA teams see an immediate impact from their contributions year 1?
I was watching a few Fever games and noticed the added floater game too. The break was helpful for her. The other observations are really good and I agree. As far as more WNBA content goes, we will see. I mostly watch CC right now.
At 9:01 idk if the LSU defender was nervous or what but it's like her balance was taken from her like why you stumblin' around like that 😂. Awesome analysis 💯
That looks like my old Telecaster back in the corner. I often wondered why Sides delayed employing this running attack offence. Clark attacks making defense collapse giving open looks for elite passing.
Huh... thanks for bringing this game back to my mind. Its really funny watching Indiana games right now and then get this throwback breakdown. Cause a lot of the same actions Iowa ran are now run by the Fever. And I mean the exact same plays.
5:15 is a double whammy for example. The Snake under over cut to get CC open is a stable in the playbook, as well as the Shooter cutting from the empty strong side, cause the entire rest of the team loads up the weak side. The Fever run both plays basically every game several times with either Mitchell or Hull as the cutter. Or 24:10 Thats basically a stable in the Boston/Clark 2 man game. Boston for example made the exact same FT line jumper in the last Fever game agaist the Wings. 26:51 of course... I mean you see hard runs like that from Mitchell/Hull/Fagbenle at least 4-5 times every game.
There are a lot more, but those 3 came to mind directly, cause the Fever run them basically every game several times.
Since you asked, a breakdown of the Penn State game when Caitlin assisted Hannah Stuelke (45) to a 47 point game, breaking the Iowa scoring record!
FYI number 44 who featured in a few of the plays you chose is 6'4" Addy O'Grady, who is a senior this year at Iowa.
True. 45 pts before CC broke that and had 49 pts.
She's incredible.
@@mikem.s.1183 47 points.
New to basketball strategy. This was really eye opening and informative. Thank you for the video!
Thanks Jordan. Feel like my basketball IQ has been doubled 🙂👍. Never played/watched before CC so having someone knowledgeable break it down so clearly has raised my appreciation for the game, the players and CC in particular.
I’ll enjoy watching the Fever even more now I have a better understanding of how they’re doing what they’re doing.
I would be interested to see an analysis of how the Fever have changed since the start of the season. They look like a different (much better) team since the break.
Thanks again.
Be well.
Great commentary. I love the knowledge about the game you show.
Reese was a much better player before the rebounding craze started. I blame her coach for not getting her back on track.
Good analysis from a colleague of these players. It's not often we get insights from someone who played at college level. Well done.
Steph Curry agreed CC's release of the ball is as short as his own. That I find very, very impressive - hence the comparisons.
On a side note:
4 of the most analyzed (not only stats but also under the microscope, ie, specific situations during gameplay ) are Tom Brady, Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi and Steph Curry. Conclusions by scientists is that these players are in fact unique, they can process many more bits of information than the average player. I see the same kind of "situational awareness" in CC. May be related to IQ (specifically, Fluid Reasoning, Visual Spatial, Working Memory, Processing Speed). These athletes are fascinating.
I wonder: with the seniors graduating, CC and Kate gone, Gabby as well, Bluder as well, Jan Jensen has a tremendous challenge in front of her. Looking at the newcomers and what's left of the team, what are your thoughts on the short to mid term future of Iowa?
Subbed, btw.
This was excellent analysis. I enjoyed it even with the phone in my pocket while walking my dog so I didn’t see all the video. 😆 Great stuff!
You did this very clearly and you saw the plays well. I'm anxious to see this kind of video from Caitlin in the W where they make somewhat better adjustments that have already caused Caitlin to adjust. I bet Haley V wishes a whole lot of people would have seen this and known that her coach and bigs set her up to fail miserably. Her fancy coach was much more at fault than Haley, I can now see.
Yeah, I didn't state clearly enough that the coaching moves from LSU were...confusing. Not even trying a blitz until the fourth is absurd.
nice work, I like the channel new sub added.. keep em coming.. Here after caitlin added a floater and mid range game while in indi... you were right shes even more dangerous now. Do caitlin clark indiana fever breakdown.. dont give up the channel will grow.
Very good breakdown.
great analysis - thank you!
Glad you liked it!
On the three at 38 points, let's hear a shout out for Gabbie Marshall on the assist!
As VenomReacts says, "When Caitlin attacks, defenses collapse." But that pretty funny to see ALL FIVE LSU players standing in a circle looking at C22.
She is simply polarizing.
I wonder if there's any connection between her thumb push-off mechanic, and her ability to hit midrange shots at the same rate as 3 point shots, in terms of getting less arc on the shot, and having less margin of error on a midrange shot that doesn't have arc. As opposed to a 3point shot, where you can still technically line drive it, even if not ideal. Just wonder if her thumb use is actively impacting her midrange game besides floaters/layups.
You should start breaking down Caitlin Clark's WNBA games.
I agree with you that it's not an ideal way to shoot the ball. However, when someone has there shot down like she clearly does, you don't try and change it.
Good video
I think they didn't want to put Johnson on Clark because she could have ended up in foul trouble and they couldn't afford that. I think also Hailey was badly under the weather for this game to start with, so she was sort of doubly screwed.
That Iowa team sometimes almost needed to have a down cycle and get into trouble in order to get them ramped up. Then, once they got into a positive cycle, it was hard to slow them down.
Poor Clark poster. Hope it finds a home somewhere on your wall.
Maybe you can break down Fever games? Btw, any story behind the Spider-Man poster?
I got a poster for the re-release of Homecoming this last May. I liked the poster and it’s up. That’s the story lol. Fever games are definitely on the radar.
Did you intend to talk softly or sound like that in your videos? I swear I could listen to you talking ball all day just because of your attractive voice lol almost ASMRish on some of your videos too. New fan
Please make more. Do NBA, WNBA and women’s college basketball
Don’t think it’s a bad shot when the by product of it is putting fear in the defense and forcing them to respect her range which opens up everything else
caitlin is ncaa leading scorer for women and men!
Good analysis! Like millions of CC fans who recognize her greatness as a passer (who, btw, has now developed that floater that you suggested 🫣), I would love to see a breakdown of some of CC’s remarkable passes that few, if any, could replicate, and I suspect that your following will increase exponentially bc there are millions like me who just want to enjoy her talent and exciting play.
you shoudl react and breakdown the highlights of her WNBA games but dont watch it before if you watch the later games from july til now you will see a very much improved player in her and she also mastered the mid range and floater shots like you said she really didnt have in college please let me know what you think
3:18 😂😂😂
Nice video. I suggest watching 'CAITLIN CLARK is making an absolute mockery of the WNBA' by Awful Coaching. It's a breakdown of her latest games in the WNBA.
Fever needs to sign Kate Martin. She can be a good back up for Hull or Mitchell. Sad to see her wasted in LVA
Nah, she's not wasted over there. Going from being unexpectedly drafted to starting for one of the best teams in the league is pretty darn good.
But I do want her on the Fever. That I am totally for.

Good analysis but thumbs down 👎for improper poster hanging. Sorry, the rules are the rules. 😜
That's fair honestly.
You are beautiful and smart. New sub here.
👍👍🙌
A player that shoots 90% from the line and 35% from three can easily make a mid range shot. She would rather get 3. Stop with the no mid bs please.
Beautiful. Just beautiful analysis. You go girl. And my number is easy. Just ask 😂
