A special request! The Zern Monstrous race (3.5 Monster Manual IV). They see themselves as the pinnacle of evolution due to being able to instantly adapt their biology to whatever the situation demands, and conduct experiments on any creature they can in pursuit of figuring out the ultimate evolution in hopes to transcend. There is a lot more to them, but I thought you might like to take a look at them!
I like the idea of all these dudes foreseeing something incredibly mundane. “In every possible timeline, this dude sneezes at exactly 4:37 pm, on the 5th day of the 4th month on the 716th year”
This is similar to Doctor Who, with its idea of "Fixed Points on the TImeline", though when they do it, it's about as consistent as all other rules for Doctor Who time travel.
Sounds a lot like Agnes Nutter from the "Good Omens" book. Her prophecies were incredibly accurate but difficult to understand (ask a 17th century Witch to explain the Stock Market crash of 1929) and very narrow in scope, focused mainly on her direct descendants.
@@MyAramil The solution is that one appears to that dude when he sneezes and makes sure he wipes his nose, gives him a tissue, and never show up or explain themselves ever again
@@CSPRING101 Imagine being a peasant with no experiences on magic or anything and one morning you look out of your window and sneeze from the sunlight hitting your eyes, then a group of half-paniced angels with floating runes all over pop out of nowhere to yell at you to wash your hands before just dissappearing again.
Maybe the reason you can't get past level 20 is that Sibyllic Guardians invite you to take part in this future war and store you away in another plane where time moves more slowly.
If it needs more abilities, it could have psychic attacks flavoured as sharing his visions with the enemies, showing them different versions of their incoming deaths over and over.
Golden Experience Requiem comes to mind in that regard. Invading a creature's mind, creating illusions, elaborate scenarios, and driving them mad with a countless number of quick and untimely deaths, wracking the target's mind with paranoia as to when and where the hammer will fall next.
Here's an idea for a plot hook: a group of Sibyllic Guardians see a particular battle in the Blood War that will happen but whose winner is not set in stone yet. Furthermore, if the Demons win, they will be able to spill into the Upper Planes in force, and the Last War's beginning will be hastened by several millennia. Knowing that the Devils would never trust them, the Sibyllic Guardians hire the Party to warn the forces of the Nine Hells and give them time to prepare against the Abyssal hordes. Perhaps if they're high enough level, the Party could even fight alongside the Devils against the Demons. The DM could even throw in enemies like the Klurichur, on account of Demogorgon being so invested in this battle.
I was about to add a City Corrupter to my campaign from your video 2 weeks ago, now I have the perfect npc to help the players. I swear to god your monsters are always so amazing for campaigns
And maybe add the moon rats as informants to the PCs? Only half of the time, they can gather and give information, so while not bad, they can't inform them of everything, but only pieces from here and there.

Trunks as a Sibyllic Guardian. "In 3 years, on the morning of May 12th at 10am, a horribly destructive duo will show up on an island 9 miles southwest of (insert city name here)."
The brief idea you mentioned about the Last War being the hallucination of an Elder God intrigues me. Imagine if the party has worked with a Sybillic Guardian for a while and then they have them investigate what they think is a dark power causing no one else to see the Last War in the future, but it leads to more twists; Maybe there isn't a dark power manipulating prophecy so the forces of evil have an advantage, but it's a group of worshippers of a different elder God that are trying to hide the fact that not only are the Sybillic Guardians, not just many of the most powerful forces of light, but many power factions throughout reality are all the mad creations of a single unknown entity that is puppeting the supreme battle between good and evil following some inconceivable plan. The Sybillic Guardians are being misled, and all their actions, no matter how clearly aligned with good, are somehow part of something outside even the ability of other transcendent beings to understand; All they would know is that whatever they do helps what is in effect a Cosmic Disease grow like they're a part of whatever it is, it's playing both sides, it seems to be working towards some kind of victory for evil until the cut-off makes it impossible to figure out more besides the fact that victory might not last against the entity itself, and some more creepy bits. Really being the cosmic horror; To tie it with some other ideas I've had, you can make it so that the players have already seen at least a part of the planning area or resting place the cosmic power resides in, behind the walls of the Bagman's bagspace.
The crazy-cool thing about this which you might not be aware of is that it actually fits so incredibly perfectly with an already-existing entity in the lore! _Drum roll, please…_ that creature is the one and only Luminous Being-the _only_ thing that Overgods and all entities of even the Far Realm are beholden to the ultimate will of, regardless of whether they know it exists or not-yes, the Luminous Being is the direct 4th-wall-breaking stand-in for the GM.
First time finding your channel talking about one of my favorite if not favorite book for dnd and one of my favorite monsters.... Algorithm is algorithming
If I remember right, these guys are also one of the ones that occasionally work alongside Devils to deal with Demonic issues and the Abyss due to their visions. Something that actually seems like it would be a major thing for if you wanted to deal with Sigil in a campaign because it's a workable place for them to be meeting their "counterparts" in dealing with their future war they see.
I would love to play a campaign where you're trying to protect some noble kid from a sibyllic guardian. Especially if the NPC you're tasked to protect is someone the party has quickly warmed up to.
Psionics have to be the one mechanical thing I miss from second edition. Reflavored spells will never be psionics to me. That said, I enjoyed the video and got some cool ideas on using this monster. Going to suggest the Tsochar from Lords of Madness every time I comment, as they’re an incredible concept that never got the attention they deserve.
I remember back when you were still in the 4k subscriber range. Nice to see how you've grown. I'd like to make a suggestion to push that just a bit further Presenting, the Darklight! Have you ever wanted to jumpscare your players with lasers & level drain at the same time? Well now you can, thanks to the Darklight! Warningwearenotresponsibleforanyprismaticspraybasedtraumaorsuddennegativereactionstospontaneouslight . . . Pft I'd like to recommend this for exposure as it's just the most interesting Undead I've yet to find, spirits that were "adopted" by the Plane of Radiance (both very strange given the usual effect on Undead & makes me feel there are very interesting implications there). The only in-depth description I found was from a difficult to work sight called Mojobob, so it seems a shame that there isn't more documentation on something as fascinating as this creature.
Love this video and the plot hooks session has given me a really cool idea for a game I want to run I'll just be doing it in pathfinder 1e cause that's the rules I'm most familiar with
21:01 an entire orcestra of bards so you have an entire town that has bardic inspsration and will not run in terror and instead fight like your plane of existence depends on it is a must
For the son of noble dilemma, my solution, imperfect as it is would be to work scenarios with the archon, and propose what if he got a memory wipe and then trained by the guardian? Becoming a clean slate to be fostered toward becoming a good ruler. The tricky part would explaining to the parents.
Show up on their doorstep with the Guardian and tell them that whatever is going on with their kid is bad and if there aren't serious changes they'll become a tyrant so despicable that Celestial beings with the support of the heavens would consider killing them before they even get to that point.
I now have a new Character idea, I remember when that book came out and the Soul knife came out and this has given me new idea to renew a Old character . i have now join the discord as i was having some Problems with my Discord so i guess i c u there.
I like the idea of someone learning about the Guadian's vision and decide to take the matter into their own hand. By going to war with hell in an attempt to wipe out all fiends. The guardians are actively trying to stop this because they're pretty sure it carries the risk of setting some dominoes that will lead to the final war coming sooner than expected, so you have this order actively laying siege to hell while also dealing with the guardians at their back. I think it's a fun idea l, but raises the question that surely the guardians wouldnt tell this powerful person this if they knew what it would lead to. Maybe the guardians foresaw that, but thought they could provide guidance and change their mind?
Anyone else get massive Anakin Skywalker / Jedi Council vibes, or Dr Strange looking into the future VIBES from the plot hooks? I've been struggling to figure out my endgame plans (if we ever get there) on the game I'm currently running, but now I think I have it. Thanks!!!
if Mythra, and Alvis Xenoblade were creatures in D&D, they'd definitely be Sibyllic Guardians. Heck, Alvis already has the "silver hair" and "greatsword" locked in.
The vast majority of the music I use is either from the RUclips royalty free pick library, old video games, or is music that I’ve written. Is there a specific song you were wondering about?
Just a headsup (love the channel) I didn't see a paid sponsorship notice in the video which I believe youtube forces you to do now. Don't want your video to be taken down!
I’m sorry, *only these guys* forsee that the forces of Hades, the Hells, Archeron, Mechanus, Arcadia, Celestia, Bytopia, Elysium, the Beastlands, Arcadia, Ysgard, AND Limbo are all gonna team up (maybe even with Carceri and Pandemonium) to fight the ENTIRE ABYSS?! That’s horrifying!
I have a random question, do you take monsters from video games and convert them as well? I don't think I've seen a video where you do this but I think you talked about it maybe in one of them but I don't remember
Rewatching randomly and had another brainwave (after the one from 3 months ago about a character using them): these guys can basically be used to recreate the plot of the Tomorrowland movie from 2015: Athena's a Warforged Cleric of some sort that's rebelling against a cynical Sybillic Guardian plan of creating an Ark of sorts to abandon the Wheel and try again somewhere else, Frank could be a particularly gifted Psion (using the UA rules preferably) or Divination Wizard that got kicked for protesting how harsh their "ends justify the means" / triage mentality had gone, that kind of thing; too bad Casey wasn't written better or I'd have a suggestion for adapting her too.
Unsurprisingly, This is actually very similar to the 3/3.5 Eladrin; which was a Celestial creature of Chaotic Good, and considered to be "Knight-Errents" of the Celestials. No God truely had dominion over them, and they served only at their own whim. They also possessed 20ft debuff aura's against enemies, didnt wear armour, and liked to brandish a big, honking melee weapon. I believe where the Eladrin got their "Fey"-ness from was Eberron; where they are the Fey Lords of Thelanis... This then became their racial type in 4E... until they were diminished into what they are in 5E... ...because...yeah... The Fey of Thelanis aren't like those tree-huggers of Realmspace; The Eladrin (or Gnomes) who become "Ghaele" are the Archfey, and become God-like in their domains; shaping it to their "Story". And their story is a big part of who the Archfey of Siberspace are...
Oh good idea for an encounter where they are slaying a town to avoid a future massacre that starts from said town through a type of disease so it appears they are evil and the players attack
Question for anyone! I have a Kalashtar (psionic) player in my campaign who is the Celestial warlock of this campaign, I wanna try and see what kind of mentoring this Guardian Archon would give my PC. He's definitely leaning into being more spell support for the party and the Duct Tape warlock healer of the group. Perhaps he should have more stuff going for him?
ok but imagine a sibyllic guardian as the party's patron, sending them on seemingly random and disconnected quests that the guardian foresees nudging variables ever so slightly, trying to use the party and fantasy chaos theory to make the best possible future(from its point of view at least if you want later patron party conflict). bonus if the guardian sends the party on a quest it knows they will fail because it actually wants the fail state. this fail can go anywhere from they won't bring themselves to complete the mission, to they are unable to complete it, all the way to straight up a suicide mission. bonus bonus if somehow, the party actually succeeds and the guardian's plans get messed up by this
It was supposed to come later in the week because YT was up to some nonsense and not letting him upload. He finally got it to work and stop fighting him.
Mmaann, if she met one, I could see things going poorly for my current character. Or if they came to her. She has a plan that really isn't something she *should* be doing, but if she manages to make it work, well. Magic will end up irrevocably changed, and there may or may not be a new goddess of magic who's an archfey.
Thanks for watching guys! What monster should I do next week?

You have opened up my mind and a way for one of players
Thanks for hard work
First time finding your channel talking about one of my favorite if not favorite book for dnd and one of my favorite monsters.... Algorithm is algorithming
6:55 I sense inspiration from Discworld's Reader in Invisible Writings
if you want spiderman 2099 in your D&D game, here it is.
The monster's gist is legit stopping people from interfering with cannon events.
I was looking for a celestial being to be my players celestial patron and this sounds perfect!
I love the donkey kong theme song in the background
HHAAAAYYAAAAA
So, they're basically dnd jedi. Nice.
They aren't he made a good portion of this up.
You're thinking about justicars.
Now that I think about it, I think he made the lore 5e friendly rather than follow the 3.5 lore.
ooh another for my D&D magic shool!
Neogi from same book are also awesome psionic creatures
I remember back when you were still in the 4k subscriber range. Nice to see how you've grown. I'd like to make a suggestion to push that just a bit further
Presenting, the Darklight!
Have you ever wanted to jumpscare your players with lasers & level drain at the same time? Well now you can, thanks to the Darklight!
Warningwearenotresponsibleforanyprismaticspraybasedtraumaorsuddennegativereactionstospontaneouslight
. . . Pft
I'd like to recommend this for exposure as it's just the most interesting Undead I've yet to find, spirits that were "adopted" by the Plane of Radiance (both very strange given the usual effect on Undead & makes me feel there are very interesting implications there).
The only in-depth description I found was from a difficult to work sight called Mojobob, so it seems a shame that there isn't more documentation on something as fascinating as this creature.
Added it to the list.
@@KevinVideo Haven't seen you before, so I don't know what list you're referring to
@@TheIdealofGreed I’ve been around for years. Talking about the main suggestion list linked on the discord.
@@KevinVideo Huh, cool
@@KevinVideo You added the thing about Mojobob too, right?
Here is an obscure monster, the ogre slug which featured prominently in eye of the beholder 3 and dungeon hack video games.
8:00. Fixed point in time! Dr Who-ness!
Love this video and the plot hooks session has given me a really cool idea for a game I want to run I'll just be doing it in pathfinder 1e cause that's the rules I'm most familiar with
Another monster that easily fits into my campaign
21:01 an entire orcestra of bards so you have an entire town that has bardic inspsration and will not run in terror and instead fight like your plane of existence depends on it is a must
we cant keep letting him get away with these puns guys
Try and stop me
Unfortunately, that's his Modus Operandi (M.O.).
I very much want that Angel emoji from the beginning.
Angels can take any form as necessary. This is just another form.
This is perfect for Out of the Abyss
Let's goooo an upload!
I’m building a psionic bard for my current campaign!!
Just from watching this I want to homebrew a type of aasimar for these guys
Concordant Killer
“I cAn sEe ThE fUtUrE!”
“Useless ass psychic powers.”
This is a great thing to have confront the warlock when they are setting up cataclysmic events lmao
Anyone else get massive Anakin Skywalker / Jedi Council vibes, or Dr Strange looking into the future VIBES from the plot hooks? I've been struggling to figure out my endgame plans (if we ever get there) on the game I'm currently running, but now I think I have it. Thanks!!!
It's psychic, and an angel.
And there are not nearly enough eyeballs for either.
Add at least one to the forehead and have it change wildly.
Lmao
i love this channel
if Mythra, and Alvis Xenoblade were creatures in D&D, they'd definitely be Sibyllic Guardians. Heck, Alvis already has the "silver hair" and "greatsword" locked in.
Great video! Please cite the artists of the music you use
The vast majority of the music I use is either from the RUclips royalty free pick library, old video games, or is music that I’ve written. Is there a specific song you were wondering about?
@@DungeonDad The background track in the first half of War For The Worlds, from the beginning up to about 10:28, sounded familiar.
Just a headsup (love the channel) I didn't see a paid sponsorship notice in the video which I believe youtube forces you to do now. Don't want your video to be taken down!
HELL YES. Fun fact, one of my characters is a biblically-accurate angel from the far realms. No I'm not kidding. It's fucking great.
A mere shadow of Orcus killed Primus once, and modron army can solo everyone on the Material Plane. Abyss is just so awful and powerful.
I feel sorry for these guys, they sound like they're living lives of constant anxiety.
I was going to comment that I liked your shirt, and then I got to the sponsor.
Hmm sounds like an Eldar Farseer for some odd reason. Wonder which came first.
Holy shit I can’t wait to unleash one of these on my level 7 party of 7….. hehehehhe
I have a random question, do you take monsters from video games and convert them as well? I don't think I've seen a video where you do this but I think you talked about it maybe in one of them but I don't remember
He doesn't really do that. He converts monsters from past editions of D&D, and sometimes from Pathfinder 1e.
Oh look a new thing to jam into my custom world 🙂
Basically angel Jedi. Neat.
Dungeon Dad "what if they decide to train the child with the agreement that they will destroy them....
Me: Darth Vader....
New subrace idea: sibyylic asimar
so basically, fuse professor x with archangel.
Unsurprisingly,
This is actually very similar to the 3/3.5 Eladrin; which was a Celestial creature of Chaotic Good, and considered to be "Knight-Errents" of the Celestials.
Perhaps he should have more stuff going for him?
ok but imagine a sibyllic guardian as the party's patron, sending them on seemingly random and disconnected quests that the guardian foresees nudging variables ever so slightly, trying to use the party and fantasy chaos theory to make the best possible future(from its point of view at least if you want later patron party conflict).
bonus if the guardian sends the party on a quest it knows they will fail because it actually wants the fail state. this fail can go anywhere from they won't bring themselves to complete the mission, to they are unable to complete it, all the way to straight up a suicide mission. bonus bonus if somehow, the party actually succeeds and the guardian's plans get messed up by this
Sibyllic Guardians = Jedi, mentoring potentially dangerous apprentices, seeing attacks before they happen so they don’t need armor, telekinesis. Lol
Already a new Monster of the Week? I thought we had one only a few days ago. It's already been a week?
I’ll wager he has a few lined up from his month off. All good though looking forward to it.
2:42 - I will not.
Understandable, have a great day
Wait in the last batttle all of the forces go againts the deamons. That means that sworn enemies like devils and angels/gods would team up.
Sibyllic?
So that's what it's called..
