Coming from a lifetime of playing clarinet, where fingers were always held up and away from the instrument as much as possible, the hardest thing for me is keeping my fingers over the fingerboard. It's maddening! I like the fireplace. How's the new house?
thank you! ive been workin my hand piggies out for a couple of weeks now. and im so surprised how much my hands are learning and how quickly! the streetches are great. also, do you teach jazz guitar/ you're a great teacher.
Heed his warning on stopping when you have tension in your left hand. I managed to injure both of my hands but especially my left hand by ignoring tension over practicing repertoire. Now I haven’t been able to play for over 2 weeks and it’s probably going to be a lot longer.
Stop! Make sure to recover first. Then, slowly ease into it more carefully than before. Also check out this lesson: www.thisisclassicalguitar.com/lesson-left-hand-tension-relaxation-exercises-guitar/
@@Thisisclassicalguitar Thank you so much! Your lesson was incredibly helpful, and reminded me to use my thumb less and simply relax. I started with your muting exercise, and slowly increased the pressure with my arm instead of the fingers, and everything was resonating without the amount of pressure I was using before.
Just what I need.

Thanks so much!
Stretching fingers 2 and 3 has been the most difficult for me too. Practicing everyday does make things better though.
True, although up the neck it's much easier so we can pick how much stretch we want.
that's exactly what I needed, since my left hand injury I struggle so much with stretching
Good, just take it slow and easy and if you feel any strain stop for a few days.

I don't really teach jazz, I know quite a bit but I'm mainly a classical player.

Try redlight therapy.
Do you have any tips for if I'm starting to get slight pain on the top of my left index finger?

Stretching between 2 and 3 is nearly impossible for me at this point. I hope this can help.

What is your favourite work/piece?
Good question. There might be too many! For guitar/lute I sure do like the sonatas of Weiss!
