Very cool variation from other Streamlights, smart to compare to WMLx and WML as they have similar systems. I really like to mount a light like this at the 12 and run a prism scope, depending on my handguard. Thanks for the first look.

I bought the rm2 about a month ago mounted it on a new build and programmed it for the strobe function right away. I got the o light Valkyrie a while back along with a couple of the edc lights after watching one of your reviews it's great but I prefer streamlight. I've been using a protac 2aaa at work in an industrial setting for a little over a year and with what it's been through I just have more confidence in streamlight products.
I finally got me one of these on order. I prefer running my lights at 12 o’clock. That way you only get shadow where your peripheral vision is already blocked by the rifle. It gives you the largest view around the gun. A light at any other location increases shadowing which can lead to missed targets down low. Most of my other rifle lights are set at the 10-11 o’clock position which creates a blind spot from about 3 o’clock to 6 o’clock. Room clearing in the shoot house has shown it’s easy to miss targets hiding low and right of my position around a corner as I pie the door. I required me to drop the rifle low and leave myself vulnerable to check that location. I never have the problem with my rifle with a TLR1 at the 12 o’clock. I just hate the TLR1 switch. It gets turned on to easy. I’ve had problems with it getting turned on in my bag and during the day running drills.
I have both Of the lights and the quality is great. They mounted fine on MAGPUL picatinny rail sections. The only gripe I have is that if you don't use the tape switch and leave the cap on, the cap is not very snug and will easily fall off...
@@Teabagonyou I don't own a pistol caliber carbine but I would think that if there is a picatinny anywhere on the weapon, that you should be able to mount this lighting system. I have a Colt M4 Carbine and a Springfield Saint Edge pistol and I was able to mount the light on each. Of course, the one I mounted on the Pistol AR was the RM1 because it's shorter. The thing to keep in mind is that you'll want the light as far forward as possible on a pistol AR but not inadvertently come near the muzzle or you'll damage it when you discharge the weapon. Too far back and you'll have a large shadow when you turn the light on.
I'm thinking TLR9 may end up being more universal in general since the flex option is there for the switches and you can always throw it on a pistol as well. From what I understand it's the same light as the RM2 and it seems the height of it won't interfere at the 12 o'clock position.
I bought the Streamlight TLR 2 HL G for my Walther PPQ but can’t find holsters for it, so I put it on my rifle. It works pretty good so far and doesn’t take up much room.
Awesome lights, thanks for the review Mrgunsngear! I just bought the pro tac hl-x for my Recce 16. Streamlight makes a great product at an affordable price, much more cost effective than Surefire.
Mike you got be bro...I started typing “hey you didn’t answer the obvious, how does it compare to the Inforce WML/WMLx?”, but then I heard you call me out 2/3rds into the video. Great review!!
I've been teaching low-light courses for about 20 years. I've been looking forward to these products from Streamlight. However, It's a bit of a "definition of terms" problem when people get into the, "X amount of light will blind you" discussion. Blind is the incorrect term. It won't "blind" you. Will it have a drastic effect on your low-light vision and depth perception for a few moments after activation in a room that reflects/transmits light well? Yes, it will. That's why Surefire used to only produce personal lights below the 300-lumen range for their first decade or so. One hundred lumens is more than enough at room clearing distance for both good depth perception, color detail/clarity, and even causing sensory overload when directed into the eyes. You technically don't need more than that for average use distances. Having said that, and stating that technically the "more light the better" is not always correct, you also aren't going to be at too much of a deficit with proper technique using the higher-powered systems. Most of the time, you could actually use the side-bloom with the spot aimed at the floor and still be fine. I use low power nav lights for moving around and basic illumination. I don't turn on the sun-spot until I want to have a more distant throw or want to have someone slam their eyes shut for a bit. I like bright lights because of their versatility for moving between interior and exterior conditions, but you don't really need them.
So I bought one of these. The rubber cap is confirmed wonky on rail pieces. Hopefully they remake the designed and offer an after market cap. If you want to mount this at 12 it does show up in my 3.5 Acog.
I much prefer a very hot center for maximum throw, because indoors you just can use it indirectly to light whole rooms when carrying at the low ready and letting light spill off the floor.
