I ended up watching this video after seeing the one for Road Not Taken which led to me downloading the Triple Town app on my iPhone and I regret everything. THIS GAME IS SO ADDICTING and fun to play on my downtime throughout the day. :)
This game actually requires a surprising amount of forethought.. or 'over-arching strategy'. Coming from someone who has played it quite a lot in the past day or two, you have to think ahead about how you're going to lay out your grass, bushes, trees, huts, and so on to keep lining up the larger and larger combinations to keep growing things into larger houses, mansions, castles, or bigger, without clogging up the game board.
It's free for the first 1,500 moves or "turns" in-game... but you can use in-game coinage that you earn to purchase more moves and prolong the trial version... or just buy the unlimited version for four bucks.
This is my Northernlion experience in a nutshell; aside from XCOM every series eventually gets boring but his voice enough to carry it; I even have a very deep voice myself just would rather listen to someone else talk than talk to myself.
I got this on my phone and I really enjoy it! I paid the 4 or 5 dollars for the unlimited version, and I don't regret it. The Facebook version is okay but I like it best as a phone game, something to pass the time with like Bejeweled. Sadly the Hub-building aspect is absent in the phone version, but they're apparently going to add it soon.
Or you can play it on facebook for free. You moves are limited but the 200 cap is enough for about 5-10 minutes every few hours. You can also send items to your friends.
It is in fact on iOS for free. I just checked after watching this. I don't think it's worth a "buy" but it's free, and looks fun enough to at least try.
Free on Android, but paying the five dollars for the full version is so worth it. I love this game, and ten dollars on steam, even if I have it on Android, is so worth it to me
The "Capital City" mechanics aren't in the mobile version of the game. It seems to me that they thought this was their chosen "Upgrade" for the PC version... though I'm not sure why they modeled it after a facebook game. It seems to me like it was just their way of trying to give you some sort of long term goal to mess around with while the "missions" as you put it is still the main game itself. The timer is probably just in there to get you to play every day.
This game is surprisingly addictive to play on your phone when you have nothin' else to do, but I'm not sure why anyone would want to pay double the price for the non-mobile PC version...
I think most complaints stem from the fact that it is ported from mobile devices. It is supposed to be a game where you get on, collect some stuff, do a few puzzles and stop for a few hours. on the PC this becomes much more tedious
Honestly, I think your gripe with the capital city waiting mechanic (although I don't really like waiting either) isn't justified. The main gameplay isn't about building your capital, it's about the match 3. You're meant to play the match 3 and gather the resources that way. The extra resources that you get by waiting x hours barely matter. If the waiting mechanic wasn't in the game, the ONLY way you could get resources would be by playing well in the match 3. It's just an extra, nothing more.
Wow... this looks a bit different than the phone version that I got yesterday... Same gameplay though... I guess it's just the higher resolution, and the facebook-style hub thing that they added.
Cool, I have this app on my phone, glad it came to Steam. It's great, but on Android it kinda sucks because you get limited turns and you blow through those in like, 5 minutes, so you have to pay or wait forever.
NL i could see my self playing this while im waiting for another game to download or nothing else seems good. Also the "farmville bullshit" could be because when u get good you will be playing 1 map for a hour or so and get more stuff to enable more match 3 in your capitol.
The game is okay, but at least on android and facebook you have a limited number of moves (their way of monetization) which kinda sucks... the randomness is a bit different also, on this gameplay I saw a lot of crystals and robots, but on Facebook they are really, really rare.
This game is great on iPod, I was going to buy the unlimited turns thing, but it was too expensive, and I think it's gone up even more since then. It's something like £3. Like I said, great game, I enjoyed it, but whoever does the marketing really has no idea what they're doing.
Downloaded this game onto android after saw the gameplay, android version is basically just maps and no social aspect what so ever free version comes only with 2 maps (normal and time attack) and full version costs 3euros.. so all in all its a better game for me.
yeah, i appreciate being able to see what this was about but 6 minutes into it i was more interested in reading the comments of the video. Not interesting.
well the facebook part of it i guess is there so you dont just harvest a resource over and over again and kill the game i guess, if the objective is to get a nice home town
Hm... I think they should have made the "Timers" based more on score, rather than real time. Like... get a certain amount of points collected before you can harvest each thing? It would all be cumulative, and you can basically play the game at your own pace, rather than the stupid timer mechanics the game is forcing you to endure.
OMG THE THUMBNAIL IS AWESOOOOOOOME
dem thumbnails getting better and better
This did start out as a Facebook game thats free...

God, triple town is SOOO ADDICTING!

This man speaks words of wisdom. It is a pretty good tower defense game that is relaxed, comical, and available on mobile.
comparing this game to X-COM?
NL, you are truly a genius :>

Play this on my I-Pod alllll the time.

Yeah, I believe he mentioned it on Twitter.
as you're gonna be playing this games, may i suggest the burrito bison saga?
Free on Android, but paying the five dollars for the full version is so worth it.

he has mentioned it has been a slow month in terms of releases a few times

Wasn't this a flash game at one point? I remember this game from a few years back, but I can`t remember from where exactly.
This game IS on facebook by the way

It has recently been released on Steam.

WHOA northernlion, I didn't know this was a religious commentary channel
You can fix the time problem by putting you pc clock froward as much as you need to.
This game is so fun to play on my phone
This game actually looks very fun :)
he said in a previous video, besides far cry 3, December will be a slow month.

the only reson you would want things to take hours to be harvested agian is usaly when its a free game and they buy something to speed it up

i loved playing this game on my droid
Let's play Triple Town!!!
Wow... this looks a bit different than the phone version that I got yesterday... Same gameplay though... I guess it's just the higher resolution, and the facebook-style hub thing that they added.
love this game
Does the iOS version simply not have that capitol city part of the game? I can't seem to get to it.
If I didn't already have the mobile version,I would buy the steam version to support them.
Great video NL :)
you know you can get it free on google+ or facebook
Cool, I have this app on my phone, glad it came to Steam. It's great, but on Android it kinda sucks because you get limited turns and you blow through those in like, 5 minutes, so you have to pay or wait forever.
This game is strangely addicting in small doses
I am sure somewhere located on a bay somewhere it might be free for PC.
been changed to points rather then time.
Is it bad the I do that very often with his videos?
NL i could see my self playing this while im waiting for another game to download or nothing else seems good. Also the "farmville bullshit" could be because when u get good you will be playing 1 map for a hour or so and get more stuff to enable more match 3 in your capitol.
Pay around 6$ for the THQ humble bundle, get 9 AAA titles. + It's for a charity.
GOD DAMN THIS GAME LOOKS GOOD... -_-
ive been playing this on my fone for alil whle now, pretty fun :D
Even on the steam version it is very difficult to get coins, unless you're really good.
The game is okay, but at least on android and facebook you have a limited number of moves (their way of monetization) which kinda sucks... the randomness is a bit different also, on this gameplay I saw a lot of crystals and robots, but on Facebook they are really, really rare.
I wouldn't send items to my worst enemy.
Just looked at the IOS version and that hub thing isn't there at all I suspect that this is a port of the facebook game.
At least the IOS app is free.
Oh sweet, it's free!
If You keep adding the rocks you get a lot of money
This game is great on iPod, I was going to buy the unlimited turns thing, but it was too expensive, and I think it's gone up even more since then. It's something like £3. Like I said, great game, I enjoyed it, but whoever does the marketing really has no idea what they're doing.
I enjoyed Flight Control on both iOS and PC :)
i guess it would be for offline mode.
While you're at it why don't you make a vid about Kingdom Rush?
(No, seriously, it's pretty good.)

Downloaded this game onto android after saw the gameplay, android version is basically just maps and no social aspect what so ever free version comes only with 2 maps (normal and time attack) and full version costs 3euros.. so all in all its a better game for me.
Did you do ANY research before playing this?

yeah, i appreciate being able to see what this was about but 6 minutes into it i was more interested in reading the comments of the video. Not interesting.
well the facebook part of it i guess is there so you dont just harvest a resource over and over again and kill the game i guess, if the objective is to get a nice home town
