  • I tried troubleshooting as to why my Yaesu G2800 speed control to the Left wasn't working as it should. I opened up the rotor to take a look inside. Additionally, I show you how to align the rotator. Thank you for watching!

i know when i did mind, I had the wrong marks on the rotor when alignment. And the 270 was really 450. Finally found a you tube video and used the right marks and it worked.

Hi Darren, you have a BK brake problem, the BK Butterfly is loose on the motor shaft & it now drops down allowing BK spring to get jammed between the Pinion gear & the BK Butterfly when rotating CCW, hence why it is slow in that direction. Regarding the switches in the rotator, the lower set are for limit end of rotation & the top set is to reduce speed before limit end stop, they have nothing to do with normal rotation. You have not aligned it properly you made it worse & the POT's in the rotator & controller are not aligned. The POT in the controller has run out of POT movement (hence why it is pulsing near West) & since these POT's have limit stoppers in them, you may cause damage to the POT drive gear.

Thanks capt. It’s still not aligned even though you did use tape. These can be a pita

Will be handy to know (when you get it back), what is the cure for that problem . 73

Good morning, I have exactly the same problem with a Yaesu G1000DXC. Please tell us the solution when you have it repaired.

Well, Yaesu told me nothing was wrong with my G2800 and said it could be my Controller. Next time I get back home for a few days to troubleshoot it, I'll also make a video on what I did to troubleshoot. 73 de N4VFR

@@DarrenN4VFR A few days ago I took the external rotor unit down from the tower. I have tested it at home with a new cable and it works perfectly. So my problem is the control cable, it must have some bad contact.

@@JuanjoGameroLopez Thank you. I might have to do that too. But first, I will check the voltages on the controller to make sure it's 24vdc. I talked to the Yaesu Tech during Hamvention. Watch that video if you havent yet. 73

The problem is in the controller. Start by check the voltage between pins four and five. The polarity will reverse as you change directions.

Yup, I will when I get a few days off.
