How to make your own Skirting Board out of MDF

- Here is a video of me turning a 2.4mx1.2m sheet of Moisture resistant 18mm MDF.
This was part of my Garden Room build, I decided to make the MDF as I had all the tools needed to make it.
To buy the skirting board primed it would of cost around £120 or I could buy the material for £50 and see how long it would take. This method could be scaled up to an entire house or just make matching skirting boards. These skirting boards match the main house and 1 sheet did the entire room perfectly. if you were to do this method on an entire house it would save around £70 a room provided you have the tools and the time.

I made my own skirting during lockdown as everything was sold out apart from MDF! I made mine super custom and we are now looking at the game room having recessed LED Strips.

Thanks 🙏 , the underlay used is called Sonic Gold and it’s the 5mm

Mdf = the biggest “dust” mess I’ve ever seen 😂
I cut all my trim from sheets’
By the time you prime them (must use oil primer) as water based will make them swell at $60 a gallon honestly
If I did it again I would just buy them’ I wasted days cutting sanding priming etc and the Mess….

😅 even with moisture resistant MDF it’s not worth it! No swelling as of yet.
Lots of the UK’s skirtingboards are MDF and door linings especially in new builds!
Only reason I’d do something similar would be to match an unsourcable pattern or for a very small amount. I’d say it’s about a 1/3rd of the cost in the UK to make your own but still not worth it.
Presumably you want people to watch your video, but please, no music. Remember that your choice of music is not my choice. If I want to hear music I put my own on to listen to. If I want to watch a how-to video, I don't need music.
