It is not easy, definitely more difficult than ordinary circuits. But you would learn it. It takes some dozens of laps to memorize the exact order of turns and passages. These guys have hundreds and thousands laps, they know every curb, the surface, bumps, elevation and tilt to great detail.
flashpeter625 They come across as being new to racing, having played it in a videogame. I understand that there is a massive amount of training and effort, but surely not enough for thoudands of laps for what is a relatively large number of circuits?

They might not be running at full potential since it's a 24 hour race. It might be better for them to hang back and let other cars break down in the pack then speed up later in the race.
It's a 24 hour race, so the driver was probably been being conservative. especially after seeing the sister car in trouble after the first few corners. Mr Probz - "Slowly driftin, Driftin away! Wave after wave, wave after wave." :P

I cannot comprehend how a driver can memorise the entirety of what is essentially a 10 minute lap circuit.
You only need to play Gran Turismo

Took me at least a month on Forza/GT. Now I know the GP/Full circuit like the back of my palm.

The sound is from the drive gear in the transmission. You can hear the noise drop with the engine noise every time he shift.

he made it to the pits as i recall from a year ago
+gasixteenb11 yeah but he did the full course or in the transition from one track to the another he just cut it?
he did the entire lap just made it back with the remaining rubber finally leaving the rim on the final long straight.
i think he used the pit entry at the end of the grand prix lap
you lose a lap by doing so but he lost less than by going around the full 26km circuit
