Looks good! How do you prevent somebody from driving a drywall anchor in the shower niche from the opposing room? Seems like that could be a recipe for disaster if somebody were to try and hang a picture using a 1.5 inch or greater anchor or screw.
Cool.... Thanks for the video. This is giving me ideas. I'm working on a bathroom which a prefabbed niche isn't going to work. In short older house with actual 2x4 lumber so the spacing is off. I do have a question. Being you can't screw in the back piece (makes absolute sense), why didn't you put it in first? Basically that original piece you cut out from the wall with the razor knife would go right back in once you had your ledger boards in. That way when you put your sides, bottom and top in they would effectively lock the back piece in and hold it. If there is a reason please let me know. Thanks.
I assume that you're mitering your edges? If you were using a profile (i.e. Jolly), you would want your niche sill tile to sit above your "finish line", right?
Good video but It is hard to understand why you also subtract tile and grout from your finish line without seeing how you finished it. I am doing 12x24 and framing with jolly strip that covers the edge of the internal tile pieces so wouldn’t that mean I only subtract the backer board and 2x4?
Pretty sure it was 1/16 spacing but because the tile had imperfect edges some grout joints were wider than others. We also had to use wedges to accommodate for the irregularities in the tile
@@mgwitcher6 Yea I had to go back to double check as the first time I watched, I also wondered why no slope. But on rewatch I caught the shims. I do like this method of building out the box after waterproofing is up (if you are building between existing studs), and use 1/4 inch board to get as much space as possible.
So much for legitimate responses. I thought you had a valid question, considering I just now discovered her videos as well. Just on the surface, coming from an amateur, she seems pretty legit to me. But what do I know?
Don't know how or why this video came up in my recommended but I'd rather watch paint dry. Show us the back room, how many sammiches you got made up back there??
What a treat . I thought you gave up on the you tubes. Haven't seen many posts. Glad to see you still are sharing your wealth of knowledge.
Glad you are back on the channel!
You have the best instructional videos on RUclips. Great job!
Wow, thanks!
excellent. you have really evolved into a poised, competent installer/presenter!
Great job! well done and thanks for sharing!
Thanks Mike!
Thanks for the helpful video Schannon!
Hope all is well and look forward to future videos!
Well done! love it! Excellent job.
Nice work 👍
Thank you!
Great tutorial! I would use some gloves or caulking tools for the sealent, tho. Acetone absorbs right into your body.

Great point. Giant nail guard.
Not being a smart aleck, but I’d say it’s really up to the person hanging the picture to know what’s on the back side of the wall.
For sure. Issue is when the house is a rental, generally renters don’t have that kind of aptitude or forethought.

Is tile baseboard still in style for bathroom ?
Your amazing 😊

What type of tile is best for showers floors? Stone, porcelain, so many options.
I like a nice porcelain mosaic tile we tend to steer away from natural stone tiles due to moisture absorption and discoloring
Thanks for sharing. Does tile adhesive stick well to this sealant?
Yes it does! In fact I had to demo my own work one time due to an error and it was not an easy demo.
What is the spacing you used on those subway tiles next to the niche wall
Pretty sure it was 1/16 spacing but because the tile had imperfect edges some grout joints were wider than others. We also had to use wedges to accommodate for the irregularities in the tile
Saw you learning to weld please let me know how to contact your instructor, thank you
It was @weldtube
@@ThatTileChick thanks
You didn’t angle the bottom to allow for water runoff?
You can see the shims used to create the slope at 5:20.
@@JL-kc2ny thanks. I didn’t catch them before. Glad she did. Wish she would have mentioned it in the video.

More content please
Is there a reason the videos are so fast? Why not slow down a little so we can see a little better what you’re doing.
you b uilt a studio and now 6 months later no videos.. whats up with that?
you're pretty
I might be sexist but, only a woman would call a putty knife a spatula. JK. hope you can take a joke. love the vids

you need mental help
@@djderekrock You are no argument. When I see chestily-endowed women in a man's role, I will question, I will judge. Suck it up.
