Thank you for providing such clear instruction. I tried to save lettuce seed last year however I could never find a solution to separating the seed from the chaff. In had to save everything and then the next year I scattered the mess it on the garden bed. I did successfully grow lettuce, but it required much thinning and was wasteful. With this improved method I will be more successful. Now I just need to find a 2mm sieve.

I collected my lettuce seed today, but simple pulling on the white puffs to pull out the seeds into an envelope. Mine aren't ripening in such numbers as yours which has actually made it more manageable. Then just drying on the window sill on baking paper. I will try that bucket method if I get larger clusters though! Thank you!
