Highlight vids don't even do it justice.
I been watching NBA & a die hard knicks fan for 38 years, so I hated MJ until like just 5 years ago when this anyone but MJ goat nonsense started, and my hate turned into respect (I always respected him, It was just buried under my hate lol)...
Seeing him pull out big wins game in, game out, actively rooting against him vs my Knicks and in the rest of the playoffs, deluding myself into thinking "the sonics/jazz/knicks/pacers could have a good shot at sending these damn bulls home,".... Big Pun said it best with the 1st line of his song DREAM SHATTERER on his 1st album, "ay yo I SHATTER DREAMS LIKE JORDAN," cuz that's all he did to the knicks every damn season
And his team knew, the opposing team knew, the opposing coaching staff knew, every fan in the arena, everyone watching on TV, we ALL KNEW Jordan was getting the ball for the last shot, the last 2-5 min, the entire 4th quarter.. teams spent DAYS worth of scheming and practicing for those EXACT MOMENTS... and there was nothing anyone can do to stop him..
And worse yet, a more conservative, realistic amount of the time, say 80%, of those times the Bulls needed it and the world knew he was taking over, they'd win...
That still meant 20% of the time, he'd LOSE----- but 8 times outta 10 is an ABSURDLY high amount of time... THAT'S why he's the GOAT, cuz he refused to lose and he continually shined brighter than anyone when it counted, never being the man BEHIND the man
He was BY FAR the best player on the best team that was still the best with the least amount of help on offense, when it mattered the most... if he didn't step away for baseball, there is an actual BELIEVABLE chance this guy led his team to a FRIGGIN EIGHT-PEAT... just let that sink in...
      8
      Chips
      In
      A
      Row
Cuz he won 3 more in a row AFTER that i.e. he was 3 and 4 years younger than he was for that 2nd 3peat... the dude lost 2 seasons of his prime, comes back, and wins another 3... I'm happy we'll never know, cuz F a Michael Jordan 😂
      GD friggin Knick Killin prickBastard

@Cpski4 I feel you but he definitely overrated. He's the only player whose failures get ignored and excused. This is the main reason he's overrated. His game has so many flaws and he has only won by forming super teams. I seen his career from A to Z. The rule changes in 2004 saved him. He's allowed to travel, carry, and offensive foul his way to the basket with no repercussions. I can go on but I'll leave it here

Jordan's dominance in the playoffs is the main reason why he is the GOAT to me. The 40ppg playoff stat epitomizes this. Consider how difficult
it is to average over 40ppg in a playoff series, even when you have offensive help. Jordan never played with another offensive player who could
command a double team. Scottie was nice, but he was never an elite scorer. All teams opponents knew that to stop the Bulls they had to stop
Jordan. And none of them could do it.
Wilt Chamberlain was also known for his prolifice scoring. But most of his scoring exploits were in the regular season, not in the playoffs.

I'm a huge fan of LeBron, Kobe, Bird and many others and have watched basketball a long time. Jordan just had something different compared to everyone else. Imagine if he took real care of his body through all the technology that is available now. The guy golfs 18 to 36 holes (so between 3 and 8 hours outdoors in the heat) drinkings and then still went and did what he did on a basketball court. There's a similar story Charles Barkley tells about when he, Jordan, Karl Malone, and coach Chuck Daley played golf in the morning of an olympic game and Jordan asked to guard the point guard for the other team in the evening. People were afraid of Jordan so much that they would go out of their way not to say anything he could remotely use as motivation. That is a different breed of person right there. Kobe is probably the closest we have seen and likely will see. Jordan is kind of the guy that invented retiring on the top of your game, now it is the norm with everyone thinking it was Tom Brady that started that trend.

Gary was slightly better than MJ on the defensive side MJ played in an era where there was a lot of 2-way players like Hakeem Alonzo Ewing Robinson Scottie Gary Joe Dumars Shaq to some degree Bron era has AD Giannis Embiid Bam Kawhi

I debate with people all the time about who is the NBA GOAT. But I don't waste my time debating who is the greatest scorer of all time.
It's MJ. And it's not particularly close.

I don't have any issue with young people thinking LeBron is the GOAT. Because he is the guy they grew up watching.
It's just like Dr J having the same guys he grew up watching as his top 5 players of all time. It makes sense. Imagine
if Dr J had Jordan as his GOAT. That would be kinda weird. It would be like if Jordan had Tim Duncan as his GOAT.

82 games MJ played at age 35, as scoring champ, mvp, def 1st, nba 1st, then won FMVP, 3x consecutive FMVP, for the 2nd time. Lebron isn’t doing that.

oldhead here. I watched pretty much the entire career arcs of both MJ and the Glove. Gary was an elite defender for the position and can give problems to some 2 guards, but MJ was the best defensive guard for the most part of his career. MJ can guard 1 thru 3 easily and did switch on to some smaller PFs in his latter half of career too.

and oh yeah, about those kids who say things like the KD's Warriors would kill the 90's bulls, hmmmm not if they play under the 90s rules and referees. Harper-MJ-Scottie-Worm were all each the best defensive guys of each position in the league when they played for the Bulls. Ron was a phenomenal 2 guard for the Cavs and the Clips until he blew his knees out. Ron reinvented himself as a great 3 and D big guard next to MJ, but once upon a time he competed, and often beating MJ. Scottie and Rodman were both incredible, generational defenders too. From Bill Cartwright, Stacy LIvington, Luc Longley, and others I am too old to remember, were all big dudes that took up massive space. C's back in the day were giants.
