@@ABC_animal_kingdom thank you! Vince reminds me in actions and size of my Shiba inu Levi. I think a schipperke would make a good play mate for him.

With a fenced-in backyard and daily exercise to keep them tired and happy, they're sure to make a great duo.

      @@ABC_animal_kingdom hello
Yes we live in the country and I have a fenced in dog pen that my husband built.
It's approximately 30 feet wide by at least 60 or more feet long and it's fencing is buried about 10 inches down and is still 5 ft. high. And even at that we don't leave Levi out very long bc my hubby's afraid a hawk or cyotes will get him. Do you know of any schipperke rescue centers anywhere?

      Hi Sherri
      That is just PERFECT!
It is the best to be careful with coyotes and wild life in general that because there are many related accidents.
We have never contacted them, we hope it will be useful to you: schipperkerescue.net/adoptfoster.htm

what a great little dog & yes that's how we pronounce it in the USA. Not much grooming witch is nice. Another one of very smart 🐕 s for sure. They definitely need a family with kids. Great family 🐕.

DNA testing has shown that Schipperkes are closely related to Pomeranians and other Spitz breeds. They are a spitz, the debate is long over. Great video!

Schipperke is a Dutch/Flemish word derived from "Scheperke", meaning shepherd, although they were also used as guard dogs! The Dutch pronunciation of the "sch" combination cannot be reproduced in English because it doesn't exist. Usually it ends up getting pronounced as "sk", Skipperke. The same happens, as a for instance, to the name of the Dutch port city of Scheveningen, unpronouncable in English (or any other language, for that matter) and becoming "Skeveningen" or "Sheveningen". In WW2, the Dutch Resistance used "Scheveningen" as a password because even Germans can't pronounce it. Schipperkes are always black, and they look impossibly cute with their unmistakable shepherd heads. When you look closely, a Schipperke's head very much betrays its family relationship to the three main Western European shepherd breeds, Belgian, German and Dutch.

Had 2 in u.s. Only black allowed in u.s. Very active but in short burst. Aloof with others but love their home folks. Mine never chased my cats and did very well with invisible fencing when properly trained. Just a blast to have around and realy know how to beg for their wants! Train train train.
We lost the female from autoimmune diseases. We got her and her brother from a drug bust. No telling what she went through. If your willing to do positive feedback training you will find a perfect little captain.
