- On this occasion of Ratha Saptami 2022, I am pleased to present my rendition of Sri Maha Sauram.
Maha Souram is a collection of mantras from Rig Veda that exalt the praise of Lord Surya Narayana, the Sun God. Lord Surya Narayana is the benefactor and provider of health and longevity. Regular chanting, listening and reflection of these mantras will surely bestow vibrant health and fulfilled life.
The English translation of the verses have been taken from the book ‘Maha Soura Mantra Patanam’ by Sri Eshwara Satyanarayana Sarma Garu that was first published in 1959. The translation provide a literal meaning of the verses to give the listener a general idea. But the experience of the Rishis who perceived these mantras is something that cannot be described but only realized upon intense sadhana.
The benediction that is called out on some verses is taken from a very informative and lucid talk by Dr. Sistla Purushotham Garu on the same subject.
This has been a product of my personal ongoing sadhana. Any shortcomings and mistakes in the text or the recitation is wholly the responsibility of the creator of this video.

@@raviom Good morning, many thanks for releasing the pdf version as well. In fact, the slides along with pdf version fulfill an important need for serious students of Maha Souram. There are very few versions available with a verse by verse English translation. Also, the slides are self contained and beautifully formatted. Truly, it cannot get better than this.
