What a coincidence. I was at a car park today and noticed one of these, the first time I have seen one or even knew of its existence. I really liked its style and had to look at the badge at the back to know what the model is called. Not many cars get my attention these days. This did and does, so I agree with you 100%. Then surprise surprise, what should appear on my RUclips feed tonight but this presentation. Thanks for this. Most interesting.

Well after watching this review my wife and I went and had a test drive of the DS7 . I was surprised how good the car was as I have never had a French car. WE like it so much that we bought one DS7 300 4x4 Opera . I have to admit it is a year old but considering I saved £25,000 pound I am not complaining. Thanks for the great review if it was not for your review I would not have consider it.😉👍👍

The DS7 Crossback (with the dancing lights) had LED matrix headlights. They didn't lose them through safety, it's more likely due to cost saving. The dancing lights are very much a gimmick, but you still smile when you see a crossback started up at night. My MOT tester when testing ours was even surprised by it when testing the light pattern - and on collecting the car at the end of the test told me it has "dancing lights ...and it's like a Bentley inside". The car does genuinely does surprise some folks, even folks who test hundreds of Audis and Mercs all day it seems

Thanks for your high quality car reviews. Can I recommend the Nissan X-Trail e-POWER e-4ORCE 4WD Tekna+. But don’t say it’s using a petrol engine to charge the battery. It’s generating electricity straight into the electro motor.

I’ve got one of the first Ds7 Crossback’s registered in the UK back in 2018 and it has the Opera trim the same as in your video. Back then it was called the Ultra Prestige, but still had the word ‘Opera’ on the front lower section of the doors. I love the car, although like most vehicles, there are one or two gripes. I’ve found that upon start up, it takes over a minute for all the various systems to load and if you drive off before everything has finished, it’s difficult to move at slow speeds smoothly. The infotainment screen can be a bit slow in changing and where my vehicle is petrol only, the turbo has lag when the drive mode isn’t in sport mode. The main dislike I had with the car after having driven the vehicle for about 3 months, was that I found the ride quite ‘choppy’, even in ‘comfort’ mode. After discussing this issue with my local DS agent, I solved the problem by changing the 20 inch rims which are standard on this trim, to the 19 inch rims which are an optional extra. What a transformation……well worth investigating if you’re considering buying one of these cars although it should be said, that the newer E-Tense model may ride differently to the older all diesel and petrol models.

I was about to get one. But in my country the alcandara was the only choice. so, I moved on ... Your comment about that was 1000% on spot.

Thanks. I Like your review. As a DS3 Crossback 155 Opera owner, of which I love in terms of comfort, performance and tech, but hate in terms of space, or rather the lack of, and looking to 'upgrade' to a DS7, I appreciate your comments. As far as what I may consider as an alternative, Skoda Kodiaq, Pug 3008/5008, Porsche Macan, Audi SQ5/Q5, and the Toyota and Lexus options, I'm torn. I would like if you would included insurance groups and running costs, eg Skoda Kodiaq up to group 23 insurance, DS7 26 - 42, Macan.. 45!

I like that you are reviewing cars that are different and/or less visible on the roads. Any more hidden gems would be welcome. What about if you have £XX,000 to spend what would you get new or second hand?

Currently driving a car that I’ve taken to Le Mans that I will be reviewing, and this is a car that I have fallen completely in love with. And it’s the less obvious choice in a small class, but in my opinion one of the most accomplished cars I’ve ever driven. Stick with the channel and it’ll be on here soon!!!

If I was in the market for this type of car at that budget, I'd have a look at a DS7.
    Because its different
And its just Citroen enough to keep it quirky and interesting.
I'd probably go for a Tonale, truth be known

The big question you beg to pose is whether the suspension of either BMW or Mercedes rivals is any more comfortable? My guess is not and they will probably have noisier engines and tyres.

About the hydrolic suspension… it looks like Peugeot, which owns Citroën and DS, gave up on the Citroën's famous suspension, as too expensive, too unreliable, too difficult to maintain, and too hard to export. Other vendors, e.g., Jeep, moved on with air springs. These cause problems too. Apparently 10% of Jeep owners have problems with it.

To me this car looks… frumpy. It has none of the elegance and panache of DS21 or even the Traction Avant. It just looks like any other bulky SUV. Its interior is just as disappointing. There's too little legroom in the back, in front the driver controls and the tech seem awkward. We actually get better luxury, ergonomics, and engineering from Koreans (Kia, Hyundai) and from Toyota for far less money. And now, the Chinese are coming! No wonder Stellantis is doing poorly.
