This is officially canon now as Kadakawa films officially had the story published in Japan and added to the official Heisei Gamera timeline including the Dark Horse Gamera comics.

I wish Frank would do a similar spinoff on the Heisei Godzilla series. The possibilities are many. There could be a prequel about the Cosmos civilisation, a midquel on the Godzillasaurus's transformation into 84 Godzilla in the Bering sea, or a sequel set in the Futurian timeline explaining if Godzilla Junior survived in a world where nuclear energy is banned.
One can hope.
