I love how the Toyota Hilux is banned in the US because of too high CO2 emission. I bet the guy who came up with this idea drove home happily in his 12.4L V8 RAM thinking about what positive changes he did to humanity
I really don't think it's due to CO2 emissions but it's because NOx (nitrogen oxides) emissions, which is actually stricter in the US than a lot of other countries, including the entire EU. US standards require some form of emissions control (like in the Ford Powerstroke or Cummins that are used in the F-series and Ram pickups, respectively) or keeping the engine small enough for it to be exempt from requirements (that's part of the reason VW was one of the few that had been able to sell diesel cars in the US prior to Dieselgate). This is a provision from the Clean Air Act , so the video is actually wrong in this case.
Two things people should understand; 1. Banned doesn’t actually mean illegal to drive. It just means the manufacturer can’t sel it themselves. If that wasn’t the case, you wouldn’t be seeing tuner gangs with Skylines, Supras etc. 2. American cars have a lot of horsepower, that’s one thing. But they really aren’t faster than some Of these other cars as they’re top speeds are very much limited.
it lacked passenger-side air bags and Nissan just didn't see a huge market for the Skyline model in America(later V35 and V36 Skylines were sold in America as the Infiniti G35/G37). Of course after the popularity of the skyline blew up due to 2F2F and racing video games, the R35 GTR was brought to the American market.
^^^ for real, like it must be incredibly difficult to make a quick google search. thats the problem with these quantity over quality videos. trying to crank them out so fast you dont have time to make them remotely accurate.
Funny that the M3 was considered too powerful for everyday driving, and one year later the Viper, a car with double the HP and even more dangerous to drive would be made. But that one is legal👍
USA be like: Manufactures: "Damn bro, they're making better cars across seas, should we improve ours?" Government: "Nah bro, we'll just ban all the good ones, that way people have no choice but to buy ours." Manufactures: "Good plan bro."
I’d assume most of these are false. The R34 GTR is banned due to the emissions not being fit for the USA, I don’t think it has to do with it being dangerous to drive or anything like that.
It has nothing to do with emissions either, if they wanted to make a US version R34 they very well could've, but they didn't. It's just the arbitrary 25 year rule.
1:09 Since when can an engine be "Too powerful for everyday city driving"? That's the worst excuse I've ever heard for banning cars and there's a lot of bad excuses by the American's in this list. Like do Americans ignore the fact that their own brands fall into these categories? Mustangs are known as crowd killers for a reason, they're both "Too powerful for city driving" and "dangerous on the road".
The list would be huge if we consider old cars until 1970 or so like the Alfa 33 Stradale, also none of those companies could even provide 4 models to crash test since they probably costs million of $ 😂
Mmm these “bans” were due to safety regulations set for manufacturers during a rough age for enthusiasts. Others are just for rather importing laws, so not really banned more like.. delayed for arrival? I guess.
So the Hummer H2 is safer for pedestrians than a Volkswagen Amarok? Ford, A american company banning a Ford? SSC Ultimate Aero gets a free pass even though it can go over 100mph faster than the RS2? Nissan GTR (WHICH HAS FOUR WHEEL DRIVE) is apparently more dangerous than a TWO WHEEL DRIVE Koeniggsegg CCX which didn;t had traction control ?
@@5eliazer and you gotta love how some are "dangerous on the road" yet if you have the money you can go right out and buy some overpowered car that will easily get you killed at a rapid pace, I've seen it too much in person, Chargers, Chalengers, Mustangs, AMG Mercedes just some examples of cars I've seen where the driver has a higher number in their bank account than their brain cell count XD
If I remember from reading online Nissan never intended to sell the skyline in the US and thus they never sent any for road safety testing and certification of approval of said road safety making it technically illegal. Now that it’s considered and antique it doesn’t require the same safety testing and standards
Well, it's because it doesn't fit into the US standards for crash testing. And US highway regulations require a certain degree of standardization. Even many of today's non-US cars, while safe, won't pass American standards due to lack of certain equipment--all US cars require traction control, stability control, and ABS in order to be legally sold (many of which came in 1996). There are also standards for bumper heights, lights, and other safety features. This is why it is so easy to homologate cars built to US standards elsewhere in the world. Oh, and US gun laws have plenty of regulations around it. The Gun Control Act of 1968 requires a lot of safety testing (drop testing, mechanical reliability testing, etc.) before a firearm can be sold on the market. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosive (the ATF) has a lot of power over what gun can be allowed to be sold on the US market (for example, they can ban firearms deemed to be "destructive devices" and those deemed to be "easily convertible into machineguns.") Also, the US also has a ban on the importation of "assault weapons" from outside the United States after 1986, so any foreign military-style rifle in the US that are made after the import ban are either made in the USA from scratch or from parts kits, or come into the US lacking the features that makes it an "assault weapon" (this one is the most relevant to the discussion on cars). Not to mention that there is federal legislation and state level legislation on the requirements for acquiring firearms such as background checks and limits on what can be legally owned; the right to bear arms just means somebody who is not prohibited by law or status cannot be denied acquisition and thus ownership of firearms without proper due process. Meanwhile, cars like the Dodge Demon is built to US safety standards and therefore isn't just a barebones car with lots of power. Keep in mind that most of these "bans" are about whether they can be sold in the US. Many of the "banned" cars can still be privately imported and registered to be used on the road.

It was banned because the trunk was in the front. That has to be the most nitpicky and bullshit reason a car was banned. Having a trunk in the front never hurt anybody, in fact, it might’ve saved people from getting robbed!
Plus EVS have frunks, so its even dumber that they banned it. Im also gonna name all the car brands that i remember that have a frunk. I will start with cars that actually have a frunk, down to cars where the definition of frunk is not, clear. We have Tesla, Ford with the Mach - E (which is not a real Mustang and it really makes me mad that they EVEN THOUGHT of making the Mustang into an SUV, like we need MORE of them) and F150 lightning, all Rivians i think, all Porsches that are not front engined, Bugatti Chiron and Veyron, all mid engined Lamborghinis, Ferraris to some extent, idk how many models have a frunk. And those are all the ones i can name
@@biru4531 almost all Cars with a middlenor Back engine have a frunk. This also includes: c8 Corvette, Most modern mclarens, i think the Audi r8 has a frunk aswell and im probably also forgetting a losdbof companies and specific Cars
So is the Saleen S7. Even though it doesn't have ABS or airbags, the only reason it wasn't banned was because it was made in the years just before that rule was implemented.

Two things people should understand;
I loved the "too powerful for everyday city driving" then they let dodge made the hellcat and the others
The r34 is actually banned because the crash-test were not made
it lacked passenger-side air bags and Nissan just didn't see a huge market for the Skyline model in America(later V35 and V36 Skylines were sold in America as the Infiniti G35/G37).
Of course after the popularity of the skyline blew up due to 2F2F and racing video games, the R35 GTR was brought to the American market.

If I remember from reading online Nissan never intended to sell the skyline in the US and thus they never sent any for road safety testing and certification of approval of said road safety making it technically illegal. Now that it’s considered and antique it doesn’t require the same safety testing and standards
i love how "high level of insecurity" is a banable reason for 50hp cars, then again... gunlaws. dodge demons. idk. America is just a joke to me
Well, it's because it doesn't fit into the US standards for crash testing.
