A diploma in Kenya means nothing in the US. My dad moved here with a green card in his 40s and couldn't handle it. He went right back to kenya. I on the other hand, I'm still here- i work as a nurse in an assisted living(most people in assisted livings can take care of themselves). Nursing is not for the faint at heart- there's a lot of $ in it but it's not by force you can always go back to school and do another course. 18yrs later i still love the US, i travel to Kenya yearly I get best of both worlds i guess. My advice to anyone looking to relocate, if you are doing good in Kenya- stay there, if you are struggling and get a chance to leave- do so knowing that you will have to work HARD!
Your guest, Lilly Richards, was practical, realistic, and down-to-earth. Her advice should help those hoping to make the journey to prepare properly, be ready to work hard, and NOT to expect streets paved with gold or free money for all new arrivals. Her multiple entrepreneurial initiatives are highly commendable. Her advice to plan and implement far in advance of need to invest in land and real estate back home is very, very, very wise (Of course everyone needs to do their own due diligence in matters of investments, particularly in land and real estate). Very astute lady! Thanks Mr, Chamwada
That's exactly where I started when I came to America. I didn't like my job at first but eventually loved it so much that I ended up becoming a manager and running the group home myself. I left 10 years later but I still miss the guys I worked with.
I am a so called African American and I am absolutely leaving the United States of America before the end of this decade. I am looking at both countries in West and East Africa.... I will be visiting a country in West Africa in 2022... and then a country in East Africa in 2023... I gave up on the United States of America a long time ago.
America humbles you.. 😂😂😂 these days I’m very patient and organized in pursuing my dreams. All u need here is FOCUS. Create ur goals, then keep moving, no matter what happens, keep moving.
Sadly. Just look at all the homrless in their streets. it isnt for the faint hearted. Takes a hell of a lot of work and perserverance to make it there.
Exactly. Continentals wanting to go there, diasporans want to leave and start anew and build up Afrika. Not the SnaKKKes(States). Sincerely, A Black Ameleekan with Kenyan connex
That’s the main reason why most immigrants mostly get into nursing because then you can work overtime with good pay. Imagine someone going to school 4 years for finance, and coming again to work in direct care cleaning old men and women?
When people say they don't take credits from Kenya, they are just telling half the truth They do take the credits you just have to know how to maneuver in the system. They might not take all of them but they take credits. But it's a land where one has to hustle.
Tamaa ya ujinga. Older generation kenyans are quite primitive. They are still driven by those 90s images of the usa. Youll meet with former bank managers in kenya driving ubers in the usa

@@bellaolum9515 the more we inform people about it the better. The US really is for the type of people the statue of liberty mentions. Ni kwa yule hana chochote kabisa. The hustle there is 24/7. You get sick for one month and the next you'll be living under a bridge.
Your bcom degree in America is as good as your Highschool education. You will have to start over. I mean go do the Nursing pre-requisites for Nursing then get admitted to a Nursing school. Good thing anybody can do it so long as you put in some work.
If you have a passion for nursing them do it but if you are passionate about business then stick with that. Many people do nursing for money and they are the worst nurses ever.
Nowadays American health ministry, they refer to your country's accreditation body. In this case, Nursing Council of Kenya plays a very big role. they cross check your license back at home with your qualifications.

I guess US is not the same as UK. UK is totally different. Join me and see the difference between the two
There are plenty opportunities in the U.S. but you must work hard to genuinely earn success.
Mindset has to change otherwise you will have difficulty in transition... anywhere away from home..
If you gave me a free house and a job for life I wouldn't live in that country for love nor money.
Thanks for the Show Alex. What are the hotel room rates for the Sarova Woodlands? Do they have any special promotions for the diaspora? Asante ndugu!
