    Good video thank you for sharing. Essex is good for beginners and large bikes. Most lanes are now covered with gravel so are good to use all year. Years ago Essex was a classic case of clay ruts that made off road travel hell. Essex as a county did all their homework too with regard to the CROW bill and very few lanes were downgraded to restricted byways. It is also a good county to cycle the lanes on due to the gravel.
    Excuse my profile pic I’m currently on my daughter’s phone. Have fun out there and be mindful of other users on the lanes.

    Great content Mike. We're currently trying out all the byways in Kent. I've finally sorted the camera and mic setup, so will begin uploading some vids soon. You've inspired us to get out there and share the rides with the biker community in the way that ABR should do it.. keep up the great work, hope to ride so e lanes with you soon..

    I know what you mean about the ABR mag - has nice ‘exotic’ rides or road rides in Wales. I did go to the festival and had a good time, but you cannot beat your own local green lanes. Great video.

    Great vid, I recognise most of those lanes... Come back in the winter if you want a slippery 'Essex Clay mud fest!'.👍

      @twowheeledadventuresuk2739  Год назад

      That’s when you break the 450, although like I said in the vid, it would still be pretty dull around there even in winter, more of a Thetford loop guy in winter 👍

      Still learning laneing on my KTM 390 ADV... Getting used to letting the bike shimmy around rather than trying to control it, and when to blast through a 'wet bit' rather than 'faff & wobble'!The first winter almost put me off TBH... Essex clay and ruts in winter was, perhaps, too much too soon! Loved my trip from Essex to Hunstanton (once I got out of Essex!). I have a road trip around Devon and Cornwall planned for next month, I'll see how that goes... I'm currently feeling the urge for a T7 World Raid... More road and off road ability than the KTM, a lot heavier though when I fall off and trap myself under it!?@@twowheeledadventuresuk2739

      I need to do a vid on gear, a few people have asked me to do one. I’m not a fan of adventure style suits if you’re doing a lot of off-road riding, they are heavy and just plain impractical. Personally I go with more the enduro/mx style gear. I’ve come from a motocross background so that style of clothing and kit seems obvious to me, but if you look what the Dakar guys do, and rally riders generally, they are in adventure suits, and they are blasting about the place, so it must be safe. Also RUclipsrs like ARiemann1 (Motology Films), probably the best bike RUclipsr going for me, he’s in that sort of gear, and there has to be a good reason for it, it’s not just fashion, it’s just that it is the best and safest thing to wear if off-road. Defo want full body armour, decent knee pads or full knee braces, and boots that you cannot bend over with nothing in them, so in other words they support them selves and can’t be twisted or misshaped, I swear by Sidi Crossfires, they are super comfy, but do take a bit of getting used to if never used that style of boot before

    Awesome. I'm that "Novice Rider" you mention (off road atleast) riding that big adventure bike and that route looks like an ideal place for me to get started with some gravel/light off road. Was planning to fit some 50/50 tyres for a trip next year, but reckon I'll get that done sooner rather than later and follow your GPX. QQ what is the mapping software you're using on your phone please? I heard you mention Ordnance Survey and obviously you have your GPX on top, looks very useful. (I'm in North Essex too btw, maybe one day I'll buy you that cuppa!)

    That was a great video. It’s a bit far for me travel to ride those trails but you know what I’m going to do it when the lanes re-open. (I noticed some were closed over the winter). I’m sure I can get some overnight accommodation locally at a sensible price?
    How did you get on with the Rabaconda changing the rear tyre, strangely I found the rear tyre easier than the front, I use Michelin Trackers.
    Coincidentally I also recently cancelled my ABR mag subscription, there was never anything in it which justified getting the publication. Thanks again for the video and the route. 👍

    • @twowheeledadventuresuk2739
      @twowheeledadventuresuk2739  10 месяцев назад +1

      Never really needed the Rab for the front tyre on my T7 but was a pig to break the seal on my rear. Dead easy to do tyres on my 450 but even easier with the Rab

    I subscribed and liked your video just for the comment about ABR street bike riders that do a little off road! I constantly disappointed with the routes they put out and in 2 videos you’ve put out you have far more relevant content for big bikes. BTW I have a GS1200 Ralley and just got myself a Gas Gas ES700

    • @twowheeledadventuresuk2739
      @twowheeledadventuresuk2739  Год назад +2

      Thanks for the comments, it's very much appreciated. I always felt ABR was falling short of the mark a little bit, it wasn't catering fo those that did want to stray off the beaten path. Most who have adventure bikes don't ride off road, perhaps they'll do the circuit at the ABR festival, but because they are worried what they might encounter when taking on a few lanes they give it a miss. Now every trip hasn't got to be epic, sometimes I just like to plod along, take my stove and make a brew along the way whilst sitting at a nice vantage point - They should be doing more I think to get people out there, certainly there youtube channel is pretty dull, and I found it more geared to road riding than adventure riding

  • @AndrewBarry65
    @AndrewBarry65 10 месяцев назад +2

    Agree entirely with your sentiments about ABR. I'm stopping my subscription, fed up with all the typos, pages of plugs for their massively overpriced "posh toilets😂" festival, reviews that seem to be based on who gives the biggest kick-back, 'discovering' biking celebs and european routes years after I've known them, and not responding to emails when you ask them why they didn't publish an article you spent time writing....(reason, not enough kick-back for them).😮
