Go to properties of your shapefile or project canvas, go to coordinate system, projected coordinate system, UTM, WGS 1984, Northern Hemisphere, WGS 1984 UTM Zone 44 N

Yes, You can draw shoreline on MNDWI Layer
sir can you please tell how you have extracted the puri shapefile?
Go to Survey of India website & download Indian District Shapefile (ADM_2) then select puri district and extract your particular district shapefile

Yes, always work with UTM projection
sir, why are we using MNDWI instead of ndwi? what is the formula for the MNDWI for landsat 7 and landsat 5?
MNDWI is the modified formula for NDWI. you can use NDWI for this work but MNDWI will be more precise.
For Landsat 5 & 7 the formula is
(Band 2 - Band 5) / (Band 2 + Band 5)
(Green - SWIR1) / (Green + SWIR1)
