for the people who ask about "smoke in herald": i have some friends in herald. most of them watch tournament and understand the game mechanics decently (also how to rotate with sod). the one thing that keeps them in herald is: stubbornness. they do the things they want, winning is just a bonus for them i guess
both yes and no for this take. understanding the game mechanic and executing them well are two different thing. if we are talking about understanding, and know how to execute, but being stubborn, that is the archon - legend level. Herald players half of the time don't even know where to walk to on the map in a certain time of the game.
I'm in herald We are not stubborn It's just We got 5 win in a row, me being bottom feeder in the team, one more win and we rank up. But next match we lose with me being the best player in our team. It's like god doesn't let up rank up
Tbf, even high rank player and pros often die to blademail as well. There is a reason why blademail is actually a popular items for some heroes like Earth Spirit and Primal Beast. Blademail can still caught skilled-player off guard (and heroes like Gyro and Leshrac sometimes forced to buy bkb earlier in mid game because of this)
I just lost a game, where in the minute 23 the only building left in their base was their ancient, and we had all of our towers. At minute 87 they won. Its not herald, but I want to show it to you so bad, its 1250 mmr

Jenkins, I'm having an identity crisis. I've noticed BSJ copied your video idea of what personality describes your role and I noticed he has a hero grid video but you don't. Personally I've been struggling with mine and would like a nail in the coffin with confidence of what heros I have on my grid and why. My previous criteria was "I should have a hero grid for all roles up to 4 heros per role that do different things." For the offlane, I have a Jump hero in CK, an area control in Sand king and a big team fight ultimate, one man fighter in LC and Axe as a second jump hero. Respectively in the carry role, I have PA as a jump hero, Luna as a big team fight ultimate, Troll as a man fight hero and Jug as a hero that has a big spell but is also useful outside of it's CD. Then my criteria changed to match my team's pace of the game because I seemed to be consistently off pace compared to my teammates even in solo que. If I found that they had big ultimates and I'm playing offlane, I'd pick Sand king just so our team fight pace matches up. Respectively, if they are fast paced heros like Huskar, Tiny, Bristle back, Orge and Drow, I could play PA and if we were already winning I would go Deso into BKB because we'll my ultimate doesn't have a cool down and thus I could fight as often as the enemy respawns. Now I'm getting enough game knowledge that the next step is understand at what point a critical mass is on a certain hero. Phantom Lancer is a lvl 25 hero needing many items and levels before hard committing to fights, where as Troll only needs level 20 with a battle fury/mjolnir, BKB, and one DPS item because at level 15 with both he still hits like wet paper regardless if you BKB+R at the beginning of a fight. PA can be as fast as a level 10 hero only needing the Dagger CD if their allies provide a silence and they have no dispell, but is usually a level 15 hero needing the extra evasion and BKB to pair it with. I would really appreciate it if you humor me by either commenting if this isn't something you'd pursue just so y'know, I feel a bit heard. Thanks again for the amazing content and reminding me from how far I've come since herald!
Kez is like what PA wishes she could be. Massive AOE damage, silences, lifesteal, mobility, consistent damage, and doesn't even need to pray to RNJesus for a crit... hero literally has it all.
