In the UK I remember these being sold as a 181, that is One - Eight - One which arose from the vehicle's VW model number. I can't recall the name Trekker being used in the UK officially. They came in bright colors like brilliant orange, I can't remember whether apple green was ever a stock color but it's an excellent choice. This car, like all the air cooled range, looks so much better in stock form. The color seen at the start of the programme, hearing aid blue, was awful and so many VW's have been sent to the scrap yard lowered, best place for them.
Funny the names for this car. In Germany it is called the Kübelwagen, the bucket car or simply "the bucket". Correctly the bucket is the original WW2 version, but it looked so familiar so it inherited the name.
Why do they keep calling it a "Trecker"? Everyone knows that these are always called "Thing's". This video is not nearly as long as it should be. Thanks.
it's called the trekker because it was sold in the UK as the Trekker, and... it was sold in Germany as the kourierwagen, and it was sold in indonesia as the Safari. Heres a tip, the US is not the centre of the universe.
What a transformation. That “thing” looks amazing 👍

Mmmm type 3. The treker or it's equivalent was used by news agents to deliver papers
Wonderful restoration
Reminisent of the WWII German staff car which in the states was the Volkswagen Thing.
Yep that's actually what it is
There was a mint restored one on Craigslist by me asking $20k ..wish I bought it
The trekkker looked presentable as it was why change it ??
why settle for good when you can go for Great.
This is NOT the VW Thing that we knew, it's quite different really.
Crappy rims on that Charger.
Yeah 🙂
and the person who buys it will probably slam it....
Drew love your show keep on smiling

😲😲😲😲
It looks like an invalid carriage to me. The Dodge would have been much better.
Should have left it blue what a waste of time changing colour
