hi, amazing video! one question- since you submitted your med school application at the beginning of your third year, did you graduate early or is that the traditional timeline for med school applications?
it was manageable in the first month. i had a tough time in my first midterm season but you’ll get through it. my advice is to chip away at your studying each week instead of leaving them until midterms are right around the corner. good luck!!
Hi, Shanna. I really love your videos! Thank you sharing your experiences. I want to know that's all courses you took within three years?? Anything else courses you took in three years? I really confused about UBC courses register. Do you have WeChat or email could contact?
Hi Amy, Yes, these are all of the courses that I took during my years. This is a better place to reach me than those two so feel free to leave more questions about courses here. :)
You totally can! Though not required, I do recommend trying to fit in science courses around your commerce courses if you feel like you can manage to keep your grades up doing this.
I was accepted by Bachelor of Science (applied biology) does this matter when it comes to choosing a course? (Do i have to take certain courses to make it to 2nd year or med school in the future?)
So I’m doing OSSD 12th grade rn and I’m also doing A-levels for college credit. Do you think that I can skip the first year by taking Bio, Chem, Pure Maths and Physics for the A-levels?
Hey thankeww for the wonderful video but as an international student can I opt for 2year diploma in associate of science and then further complete my undergrad degree in UBC so am I eligible for MCAT ?! And being an international student is it quite difficult to be doc in CANADA?!
From what I understand, you need to be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident to apply to med school. I don’t think there are any restrictions on who is allowed to write the MCAT though! I personally recommend doing your whole four year of your undergraduate degree at UBC if you are able to (acknowledging finances and other factors are limiting factors for many people).
If you don’t need physics to apply or for DAT, then you wouldn’t necessarily need to do it. Physics was easier for me to get higher grades in than faculty of arts classes were, so if that is the same for you, it’s worth considerin
Just curious if these subjects are the required subjects for medical schools because I'm planning to major in Behavioral Neuroscience and some of these subjects are not part of it.
each school has different course requirements so it is recommended to look at specific schools. for ubc at the time applied, only english was required.
Thank you so much for very detailed information. Really appreciated it 😊
Thank you for this video!
Thank you! :) Best of luck!
Good luck on finishing your medical degree!
hi, amazing video! one question- since you submitted your med school application at the beginning of your third year, did you graduate early or is that the traditional timeline for med school applications?
I applied a year early so never finished my undergraduate degree. The traditional timeline would be to apply in the beginning of your fourth yer
Are we able to be a premed as an arts major? How would we take the required courses if they aren’t available for an arts degree?
Yes. You'd take the sciences courses you need as electives
Did you find your workload overwhelming during your first year? I’ll be attending my first UBC lecture tomorrow and I am sooooo nervous😬😢!

Hey Shanna how much time would you say you had outside of school (i.e. time for research, volunteering etc.) as an Integrated Science major?
I can't put an exact number but I had plenty of time for extracurriculars
Finally a godsend

Can I apply to ubc med school with a bachelor of commerce in accounting?
You totally can! Though not required, I do recommend trying to fit in science courses around your commerce courses if you feel like you can manage to keep your grades up doing this.
Hey dear can you please let me know that does UBC provide master courses for medical thing ?
I was accepted by Bachelor of Science (applied biology) does this matter when it comes to choosing a course? (Do i have to take certain courses to make it to 2nd year or med school in the future?)
Your major is good :) You have choose courses in addition to the ones required for your major to meet some med school requirements.
So I’m doing OSSD 12th grade rn and I’m also doing A-levels for college credit. Do you think that I can skip the first year by taking Bio, Chem, Pure Maths and Physics for the A-levels?
Unfortunately I don’t know the answer to that. I did not go through the A levels school system

Hi! Would you say that physics is a recommended course to take for students who would like to pursue dentistry?
If you don’t need physics to apply or for DAT, then you wouldn’t necessarily need to do it. Physics was easier for me to get higher grades in than faculty of arts classes were, so if that is the same for you, it’s worth considerin
hi! are there any specific requirement classes for first years to get into integrated sciences?
I don't believe so!
Just curious if these subjects are the required subjects for medical schools because I'm planning to major in Behavioral Neuroscience and some of these subjects are not part of it.

@@ShannaYeung thank you so much for answering! Will definitely take note on that
The life of a medical student at UBC. 🙂
So did you submit your application after your 2nd year? Beginning of 3rd year?
Correct!
would you recommend taking isci 300 second year?
I enjoyed it in third year. I’m not sure I recommend taking it in second year that there are so many courses already in second year
Hi ! Is it mandatory to take 2 English courses in ur first year ?
I believe it was in when I was in first year, but I would recommend verifying this with the UBC Faculty of Science advising office
which ap subjects did you take in high school?
AP Calc, Chem, Biology
Hi is there a nursing in ubc? Thank you
Yes there is a nursing program at UBC
How many courses do you have to take per semester?
I took around 5 courses each term
Hi Shanna! May I know what you majored in? And what year did you take the MCAT?
I majored in Integrated Sciences. and I took the MCAT the summer after my second year.
Is it hard to maintain a high GPA at UBC?
Depends on what you mean by hard! It definitely takes many late nights studying, and some sacrificed free time, but is doable with lots of hard work
hey Shanna what bachelor/program did you apply to?
I applied to Bachelors of Science. My backup was the Business-computer science dual degreee
Wait you finished bachelors in 3 years?!
My med school allowed us to apply without finishing our bachelor’s degree so I never finished mine.
@@ShannaYeung what medical school did you apply to? I’m first year pre-med 😊
