I bought an old 1980's dump truck that has a cat engine in it, without all the computerized crap and def BS. You are a smart guy Tim. Your positive attitude is the reason you know so much and learned how to do your own mechanic work.
Big Tim. I've been going through some miserable times with my business lately and its consuming my world in a negative way. But watching your videos, gives me a boost of positivity even when it looks hopeless. Thanks buddy...
Man I like how you have a positive attitude all the time. You are one of the few that tries to help the little man out. Keep up the great videos me and my daughter enjoy watching them👍
Tim, I miss this content man, you were what inspired me to get my rig and I continue to come back and watch these videos for inspiration. Buying an old Cab Over or rig and working your way up to being a successful person. I know you have had a lot going on but this is the content here bud! Hope y’all have a happy Thanksgiving bud
We have a 02 long nose pete with a cat in it, she's got about 1.3, she still makes a dedicated run from SW Louisiana to NW Nebraska once or twice a week.
My 92 N14 smokes just like yours does on start-up. I have owned it for 21 years. It has given me very few problems. I like your channel. You are the working-mans trucker.
I'm Sorry that You have HATERS saying BULLSHIIT to You I'm really Happy for You and Everything You said in this Video is Very TRUE Don't Let these Jealous People crying get to You You just continue doing what You are doing and Always Walk with your Head standing Tall Take Care Brother Enjoy your Trip and Becareful Driving on the Roads GOD BLESS YOU Although I do Hope that You Clean Her Up Polish the Rust off the Chrome and Polish the Aluminum Rim's and Fuel Tanks Just spending little money But More Time in to making Her Look Sooooooo Amazing
Love your videos. Love the cab over. And I love the way you are showing us it can be done with an older truck. I’m learning a bunch. I guess I am officially the proud owner of some junk. I bought an old 1982 Pete 362. My dad drove a 1981 international cab over. It’s the greatest feeling to be driving it. Feels like I’m in an airplane. Love it. I am not as handy as you so repairs do come with a price. I am learning everyday. Hope to be on the road soon. Thanks so much for all you vids. 🙂
You buy what you want if it’s something you enjoy doing saving old trucks that’s up to you. The old trucks will out last all the new ones I think it’s great what you. It’s called working your butt off for what you want don’t let these jealous people get you down bud. Stay safe
THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE WHEN IT COMES TO THROWING ALL YOUR CARDS ON THE TABLE TELLING IT LIKE IT IS .. BROTHER YOU ARE AWESOME WE NEED MORE GUYS LIKE YOU BECAUSE THERE'S SO MANY OF THEM OUT THERE TELLING THEM DON'T DO IT MAN YOU WON'T MAKE IT BLAH BLAH BLAH YOU TELL PEOPLE HOW YOU CAN MAKE MONEY AND HOW TO START OUT IT DON'T GET NO BETTER THAN THAT AND THAT'S WHAT I'M GOING TO TELL PEOPLE WHEN I PUT THIS ON MY FACEBOOK YOU NEED TO CHECK THIS VIDEO OUT IF YOU WANT TO BE AN OWNER OPERATOR BIG THUMBS UP BROTHER YOU ARE A TRUE TRUCKER MAN💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💯😎👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾💙
This has to be one of the best videos to date. Your explanation of owner/operator do's and don'ts is outstanding. I've been around trucks all my life, but never had the guts to go on my own. My Dad just retired, and he's trying to get his Dot # and paperwork for a dump truck he bought. I'm eyeing a 82 cabover cl 9000. Thinking about pulling logs. I appreciate your words of encouragement. Love the channel, and God bless.
Watch Andrew Camerata. He only buys used, sometimes obsolete equipment. And runs them hard and does quite well. If you can do the maintenance yourself, you'll make a profit.
Thanks for the words of encouragement! I drove over the road for 12 years, but always someone else's truck. I've been working on them for the last 18. I got hurt pretty bad in an accident about a year ago. I'm just getting over it. I have issues that will limit me on turning wrenches full time. So going back to driving seemed like a good option, but was thinking that this time it would be for me. Not someone else.
You need to make sure that you have a little savings before you start, Try to get a decent truck to start with, Know who’s gonna do your repairs, Have a support team for when you need a tow, Have your contacts/brokers you can trust, Know your bottom dollar (I thought your $4 per mile was good), Do you lease/buy a trailer, etc. You made some good points! Money can be made in trucking. It helps if you have an inside person...like your dad to help with contacts. Oh, it really helps if you can do a lot of your work! I’m not a Cummins lover, it I know some truckers that love the old BC Cummins! I do love the Freightliner though! Hope to get an update when you get back home. Why do you run the trucks 1 gallon low? I’ve never heard that one before. Good stuff!
Brother I like you a lot man you’re the real deal when it comes to being a good truck driver a good honest person and you attract them kind of people in your life and that’s a wonderful thing when I start my new RUclips channel you are definitely going to be showcased on there man you deserve it as a few other channels I watch nothing but love and respect for you brother always keep that shiny up in that dirty down Pimp💪🏾💪🏾💚😎🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Just because you know how to Work for a living Great Man!! We have to have some cry babies jealous of what you Have!! You Worked hard for it and you Deserve it!! Be safe out there Brother Peace
Don't listen to the peanut gallery. You do you and what makes you and your family a living. And good things happen to good people, God bless my brother.
So many in this industry just go with the flow. They are told they need a brand new truck. Told they need to take what they are offered for money on loads or worse running on a per mile basis as opposed to percentage of the gross. They often let others dictate their business only to be the only one suffering for the decisions of others. Your advice is correct. I always thought that was common sense. However some still think it's best to buy multiple brand new trucks and run hard for little money for success.....🤦♂️
really enjoy this straight talking no messin trucking. Over here in Scotland we don’t have any proper trucks and who doesn’t love a proper cabover ? Keep doing what you do.
Don't listen to any of those people. That stuff is far from junk. Those people that say that are just jealous of you. Keep doing what your doing. Il keep watching.
You know Tim Gentry and you can quote me on this in a RUclips video if you want But they're not junk these people that are saying this to you are jealous of what you have now part of my family isnt nothing but truckers and a small bit of my siblings have 2 or more trucks of their own now it maybe used but as long as it gets the work done that's all that matters as long as it puts a home over you and your family as long as it puts grub on your family's table and luxury items Thats what they are jealous about cause they cant find a way to afford to feed their families thats not your fault or problem so just remember this keep on rolling them old generation semi cab overs all you want and forget the haters of the world do what makes Gentry and son happy
Hey man don't let the negative comments ruffle you. There are people who will get negative simply because somebody is positive. You absolutely have the right vision on how to do what you do and you know what you're doing. Love the Channel! Noice!
Hey buddy just wanted to let you know I love your channel love your content love your family value putting family first take care of your family. Do not let, and I can't understand why people get on somebody else's Channel and say all must be nice you're rich and this that and the other it's none of their business if you are rich if you are poor the fact is you work your butt off your for your family. Don't ever think that you need to explain yourself to anybody other than your wife. Love your channe budl keep it up
Good job brother,God I miss those old Cab overs.Used to run a K W to Seattle couple times a month, and LA,the rest of the time.We didn't run them that stretch ed,so you have a better ride than we did.Nice truck man.Keep the dirty side down bro,be safe.I'm gone.
You are right on the numbers 4 bucks is what I had figured. 2 on a back haul. Finding a specialized freight helps, like the boats you haul. Regular freight usually does not pay that much. I use to haul show horses which paid well, but hauling water bottles won't pay.
That’s a bad a~~ ride i Love Cabovers i got a 86 Pete 362 that I had since 2012 and never put it on the road as yet but stupid me stay behind the wheel of a company truck So I’m getting motivated watching your videos 👍
One thing about you Gentry, U talk it and walk it. These new generation of drivers don't even use cb's. They come up on wrecks then trying to figure out what's going on. I took my CDL test in a GMC Astro 318 detriot
Trashing a isx after I watched 2 videos of his detroit puking antifreeze. I run isx Cummins engines and they are good. You got to do proper maintenance
I’ve seen you smile when the day gave you lemons all day it was awesome you just can’t give up if you spent more money don’t let it get to you take it as a lesson learned 👍🇺🇸♥️
I would love to find a truck like yours. But up here in the great white north the trucks are usually run until there done. Keep up the good work, stay safe and 💪🏻.....

I’ve been around trucks since I was honestly born. My entire family did and does it. My pap and uncles and dad as well as cousins and extended family. My pap at one time had about 6-10 trucks leased onto mcquaid. He was getting paid to have trucks available for Bethlehem steel in Johnstown pa in its heyday. He was getting huge money all the time. If I could take back time and build or buy a cabover it would be a 10/13/18 speed transmission. My dad always raved over a 13 speed. I can relay and agree to him. U definitely don't buy junk sir love the trucks.
That is a sweet lookin' cabover in the thumbnail photo.
May not be money rich but if you got a roof over your head food on the table and bills paid and your family by your side your rich.
Nailed it!
Wish I would have realized that 20 years ago. But so true.

Big cam Cummins... 60 series Detroit,, 3406 cat.. All great engines.. Imho.. Sentiment favourite will always be the Jimmy two strokes.. The turbo ones performed ok as well.. The 'na' ones mostly made music imho 😊
Great video Tim👍
Awesome
KT3406E builds some impeccable Cat engines. His attention to detail and cleanliness are second to none. His dry humor is a riot as well 🤣. Great mindset btw, the industry needs to come tgether and stick to the $2/mile or more. And kick out the lousy brokers
I agree with you one hundred percent regarding your thoughts in this video. My prayers go up for you and your family and the efforts you are making. Stay safe and keep the Lord Jesus with you as you and your family travel and work. Congratulations on your success!!!! God bless you!!!
you may not have money but you are rich because people like you and you are good to people and yes you are rich buddy boy at least i think so
Would love that truck love the cabovers keep it up from Utah
Accounting 101. Tell them Tim because it's the truth
There is something about a cabover tractor. European manufacturers have worked the bugs out and there will be further improvements. With battery tech l see them coming back. Chevrolet had an experimental wedge shaped truck called Turbo Titan III and Ford had a design that was tall as the trailer way back in the day, late 1960's I believe. They both were testing gas turbine engines. Those trucks fully loaded would accelerate like a car at a red light.
It’s like being a technician. Tools are an investment if it makes the job easier you’ll make the money back you spent on the tool and more.
Times have changed so much. I grew up in cabover trucks. I literally learned to drive a big truck in a cabover international. It was a 10 speed at at the time. If I could take back time and build or buy a cabover it would be a 10/13/18 speed transmission. My dad always raved over a 13 speed. I can relay and agree to him. In my opinion a 18 speed is pointless, however I know there very popular. I’ve never ever met a person that splits the lower end of the transmission. No one ever splits the low side but maybe I’m crazy. I would absolutely love to drive one of your trucks. I grew up around them all and love them all. I could drive anything you have without a doubt and I’m not trying to be rude or sarcastic in any way. I love your trucks
I’m no mechanic, however I can drive anything you have and I would prefer a cabover any day over any other truck you have.
I’d rather have the older trucks. My cousin and her husband run older Pete’s. They are extremely well off now. Both their sons drive for them now along with a few paid drivers. They do all their own maintenance and all the trucks are paid for. Great videos and a great business practice in my opinion. 👍
Fact on isx. They are a great boat anchor
