At this show it was the finale, but as your thought, if they play it at a show it is now more likely to be used as the final song before an encore and they will usually sing the full English version (even at shows in Japan). This was the half English, half Japanese version that was on the domestic release of metal Resistance, we got the full English version on the international release.
At live shows now, if they play 'The One' they will play the 'unfinished' version (ie Su accompanied by piano) and the band will join in to make it the full version from about half way through.
'The One' was originally written as part of another song, but the two were split ... they do have a very nice piano bridge between the two which follows a theme they share. 'The other song is 'Tales of the Destinies' and, as Mike Portnoy once tweeted saying he was very impressed and that it was "full on prog metal". That song is indeed prog metal and could be considered an homage to Dream Theater.
'TotD' has been played live only once when it and 'The One' were used to end the first of their two nights at Tokyo Dome where they ended their 2016 world tour. They sold out both nights (55,000 people each night) and played a completely different set list on each night covering every song from the first two albums.
Here are 'Tales of the Destinies' and 'The One' live at Tokyo Dome vk.com/video408956197_456239019
On their travels around the world they had realised a lot of the foreign fans were learning Japanese to sing along with them. They challenged themselves to learn a song completely in English in return and as a way of saying Thank you to the fans (who they also call 'The One') and this was that song.

Last year on the American tour, they played it about 2/3 through the set before they go into the big songs at the end of the set.

Usually played at the end of the show as a thank you to the fans. This was the Japanese version there is a full English version that they seem to do most of the time. Su Metal said she was amazed at how foreign fans learned the Japanese lyrics to their songs so they could sing along with them so she decided that she should learn English. Also pretty cool how they were dangled over the crowd, they always seem to come up with interesting ways to get closer to the audience so more fans get to feel they are included in the show, Moametal commented during an interview that she always feels bad for the fans at the back so she goes out of her way to make eye contact with as many as possible.

Thank you, it was an older reaction, based on what people gave me feedback on. Have moved away from reactions nowadays but good to know you enjoyed the context

A concert ending hymn to ackowledge the fans (they call their fans The One) Suu sang in English for THE ONE international version, while a Japanese version also exist for domestic audience.

BABYMETAL played two back-to-back shows at Yokohama Arena, the final dates of the 2015 BABYMETAL World Tour.
The first night they debuted this song, and this was filmed on the second night.
The music video has the audio from the domestic (Japanese) release of the Metal Resistance album.
The international release of the album has an entirely English version.
Moa admitted in one interview that it was really hard to stick to the choreography, and not wave to all the people below. : )
This song goes on quite a bit longer in the concert footage. The pyramid has to travel back and get lowered to the stage.
Oddly enough, since even this version has a lot of English, this is the only Official Video with English captions.
Even in Japan, they usually perform this song entirely in English.
Recently they have been starting off with the softer "Unfinished version" before going into the full on heavy version.

I like the atmosphere that this video creates a lot. The slow motion scenes from the girls' view give an interesting perspective and a hint at what a challenge they are taking every time. And them floating above a sea of loving fans shows the reward they get for it. Makes me very emotional every time.

The One was orginally part of a longer track along with Tales of the Destinies, which eventually were split into separate songs. Some of the guitar parts are shared as a result.
Back in 2014 in an interview on UK TV, the girls said they called the fans The One, and that's the origin of the nickname.

@@DaveDoesmoviesandmusic you are still missing the video

@@Dennis-DK2 I understand that, it depends on whether I'm reacting to a song request, a video request or a combination of both. This was a song request. If the request is to check out the performance or the context of the video then I wouldn't write but I would have to like alot of reactors have to pause the video to go over points, which I hate doing. If you don't make notes you get to the end of the song and have nothing to say as you've forgotten lots of points, well you do if you have my memory lol

    • @MacTaipan
      @MacTaipan 3 года назад

@@DaveDoesmoviesandmusic Personally, I would prefer pausing as well. Especially with a band like BABYMETAL that gains so much from watching the choreographies etc., missing parts of it does hamper the experience a bit. And pausing might also help with keeping the videos from getting blocked. But it's your channel, your rules.

    • @DaveDoesmoviesandmusic

@@MacTaipan blocking happens all the time, basically if you use more than around 10 seconds they can block it... I know from experience. I started my old channel and most people hated it as it destroyed the flow of the song etc. With the new channel coming up IL be doing research on each song prior to watching so I think I should be able to do it with making notes etc. The new channel will be less videos but more detailed
