  • This might be the best RUSH up to this point in their careers. The Necromancer has all the best elements of what RUSH is known for. Songwriting, story telling, musicianship...and to a degree that's off the charts. I am blown away by this song. Intense and amazing.

Hi everyone. As you can see, it's been a couple of weeks since OLR has posted any Rush reactions. It is my sad duty to inform you that after listening to the Fountain of Lamneth, he lost all power of speech and rational thought. The sheer awesomeness of this 20 minute masterwork was too much for his brain to process. He is recuperating and hopes to be able to post something coherent soon.

Just one of the many reasons RUSH was, is, and will always be the greatest band ever. Not to mention, besides their mind blowing talent, these are some of the nicest guys out there. Not your typical once we got rich we got screwed up bands. Always the consummate professionals.

It's always utterly amazed me how just 3 guys could make this sound! Mike Oldfield is the same - crazily talented! But RUSH could play this live, on stage, and still be mind blowing and actually better than the recorded versions!

This is easily one of the most perfect Rush songs out there. It has a little bit of everything, all done to an amazing level. It has the slower riffs that build tension and excitement that are just beautiful. It has the headbanger hard solos, it has amazing lyrics, tells an amazing story, the composition is top notch, just perfection. Shame that this album didn’t do too well when one of their best songs is on it.

I remember when this album came out. Running to the record store, then tucked away in my bedroom with the head phones turned up. This was music that went to another level because I grew up listening to Ma and Dads Country Albums which were a stepping stone (maybe a Gateway) to music that really moved me, including the lyrics. I really like this album as well as all the early ones, maybe because I was there in the beginning and each new album was an adventure.

Dude! You finally summed up what all of us Alex Lifeson fans have known all along, it’s his imagination and style that moves him to the forefront of so many other guitarist without having to be an Yngve Malmsteen virtuoso. He’s an Absolute Killer Guitar Master, bar none. I love Jimmy Page’s riffs and guitar work, but I adore Lifeson’s Uniqueness and mastery of the music itself. It’s plain and simply, Music To The Ears. The lyrics in this song fill me with dread every time I hear them. Full of despair.

So great, love Geddy’s vocals. Saw 2112 tour first, ran out and bought the first four Rush albums. Always loved the “underrated” Caress of Steel album. Wore that vinyl out replaying guitar leads on 2112 and CoS!

For decades I've frustratingly failed to accurately communicate to others how I felt when I brought this new album home from the record store in 1975 and listened to it for the first time. FInally, somebody gets it.👍🤗

Just FYI "Willowdale" is the name of the suburb in which Alex and Geddy grew up and where they might still live.

It's really sad that this beautiful album - from start to finish - was at the time so underrated and so depressed by the band's own musicians. Caress Of Steel: a masterpiece that deserved to be performed in full in a concert at the end of the trio's brilliant career. It would be dazzling. Sadly, we'll never see that. I love you Rush for all my life. From Brazil. 🙏🏻✨🌟 🇧🇷

Willowdale is in Ontario, Canada and near Toronto, where Geddy and Alex are from, Neil was born in Hamilton and grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario.

The mood and setting they establish at the beginning never fails to enthrall me! Gosh dang this song and album are so fantastic! PS - I guess prior By-Tor's butt-whupping by Snow Dog turned his heart to gold! ;-)

To think that the record company didn’t get this album, Paul Stanley didn’t understand this album when they played it for him while on tour and the album was not well received by all. Then there ultimatum was there next album. Needless to say the rest is history. Thank you for your wonderful reaction! I have been a fan since day one.
